Cannot download updates

Using XP SP3 and IE7.

In order to download the updates, I have to go to another computer, download the update and copy it on this computer.

When I go to the section download/updates Microsoft and try to download anything, I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

So far, I have:
(1) IE reset to manufacturer settings.
(2) purged of all temporary files, history of the browser, etc.
(3) disabled all firewall applications
(4) enabled pop ups

What should I try?

You are welcome, but don't bother do something in my previous answer, if "the computer has been blocked on XP SP1 forever" and that your McAfee application did not work. See...

Backup of personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then do a format and clean install of Windows.  Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) will NOT fix it!

HOW to do a clean install of Windows XP: see method 1 and http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html#steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978307

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or a network otherwise and before using a USB key that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:

NB: No matter what Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free and download/run the deletion appropriate before installing any Windows Service Packs or IE updates and before installing your new anti-virus application (which will require WinXP SP3 must be installed).

    Hello

You are unable to download the updates?

Try the following steps to resolve the problem:

Method 1: Temporarily disable any security (including firewalls) software and check if the problem persists.

    Check out these links:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

If disabling the security software solves the problem, then contact the manufacturer of the specific security software to fix the problem.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable
your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are
connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2:
See the article mentioned below and run the Fixit diagnostic tool to fix the error 643.

You receive error code 80070643 0 x or 0 x 643, code error when you use the Windows Update or Microsoft Update Web sites to install updates:

  • Weird problems returned - cannot download/update apps

About 8 months ago, there was a problem that a handful of us were affected by weird issues after update to 9.1 where we:

-Cannot download or update applications (circle just spins and spins)

-could not stream from Apple music

-could not access our account iTunes devices

(referenced in the discussion: iOS 9.1 causing app store issues or Apple music works do not on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1)

After lengthy discussions with Apple engineers, it seemed something on the necessary backend correction and all of a sudden everything was still... until last Friday.

The problem is back on my phone (so oddly once my iPad and other devices of family seem to be affected so far). All of a sudden my updates to the app store will show that everything has to be downloaded, or disappear all my previous purchases. If I try to download anything, I get a circle of rotation without end. music streaming stops.

A reboot of the phone to fix it, but the problem will return, sometimes an hour, sometimes several hours, but it always returns. I also tried to reset my settings if network wherever it touched. Did not help.

    Anyone?

Try to reset the App Store:

Close the App Store completely from the window of the selector app by double clicking the Home button and slide up the App Store preview pane until it disappears from the display. Then sign out of the iTunes Store (in the settings).

Then perform a forced reboot. Hold down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Then reconnect to the iTunes Store.

This is the proper way to change an email associated with an Apple ID.

Change the email address that you use for your Apple-ID

    http://support.Apple.com/kb/HT5621

If you did not do that, but instead made a new Apple ID, you are out of luck, content is forever linked to the Apple ID, with which it was purchased. Apple does not content to an Apple ID to avantureux transfer and Apple does not combine Apple ID.

  • Cannot download updates in Windows 7 on dial-up connection.

I need to use a computer * running is not Windows 7 * to download from Windows Update, paste them on removable media and install on Win7 box.

The question...  Last fall, I bought my mother a new machine with Windows 7.  It does not and is not interested, a connection high flow - it has remote access.

The last time I was visiting there, she mentioned that its Internet connection did not work.  Turns on it worked, but it was unusably slow.  It is in the process of downloading 165 MB of Windows updates.  According to my estimates, it would take about a day to download 165 MB more than 56 k modem... She is not willing to tie up his telephone line for so long.

Original title: download updates on a PC (no-Win7), install it on another?

A disable updates of Windows, so that he can stop tying up of its connection.  Of course, now he nags him with a warning of security because Windows Update is disabled...

I need to be able to download the updates appropriate removable media at work & then send him the CD & a few instructions (simple!) for their installation.

Otherwise, I need a way to tell Windows Update do not use bandwidth connection - use maybe 5 KB of its 56KO connection & leave the rest so the computer is not useless for a few weeks, then download updates.

Is this possible?  Or she'll just have to ignore security warnings?
