Cannot extend a partition

I did a system dual boot on my PC, they have windows 7 and windows 10, then I deleted the partition include win10. so it became an unallocated partition. When I try to add this storage to my partition (D) {expanding partition (D)}, I can't. but I can create a partition in the storage and it becomes main by default and I can't change it. so, how can I use this storage to add it to my (D) score

Note: I used (partition mini tool) and did not work

As in C: HD has 2 partitions with the operating system on C:

To add the D: partition as storage, opn cmd, type: diskmgt.msc in msc, R.click on the empty partition, select

extend partition, once done, L.click on the partition, go to actions/all/select 'make active '. Read more

I'm looking to extend a hard disk partition which has the Xp os on it and I don't know how to extend, I can't upgrade the disk to dynamic disk.

    need help please.

Why do you want to upgrade the disk to dynamic disk? In this case, you cannot extend a partition on a dynamic disk. But you can extend a partition on a basic disk.
Depending on your XP operating system, I suggest you use the free partition manager - Partition Wizard which can resize/move partition without losing data and extend NTFS system partition without reboot.

  • Cannot resize the partition to the desired size?

I'm trying to resize a partition in the C drive of 15 GB and another one to 15 GB. However it gives me a value of maximum shrinkage of 8160 MB. I started to have only a maximum reduction of 79 MB value, but after disabling the system restore, run the Disk Cleanup Wizard, and the deactivation of page files I was able to get to 8160 MB. I have a 289 GB HDD with 137 GB free. I don't understand why it's only allowing me to reduce approximately 8 GB since I was 137 GB free. Any ideas?

  • How to extend the partition that has free space on the left with diskpart

I bought an SSD and made a second partition on my HARD drive to transfer my data. I had planned to clone and move the light to my SSD partition, but read that I was better to do a new install. I made a new installation on the SSD drive, deleted the old partition of Windows 7 and went to add to the data partition unallocated space (unallocated space is to the left of the partition). I know that you can not do this with disk management, but I've done it before on my laptop Windows 7 by using diskpart. I found an article earlier about how use diskpart to do what disk management may not, but I don't know how or where I found it.

I know I can do it with applications 3rd party like GParted, but knowing that it is possible, but don't remember how to do it with diskpart is driving me crazy. Can someone help me?

    Hi Schwaka,

As a general rule, it is very easy to extend the partition when the free space is right behind, but what can you do with the space left? Most people will feel that it is really a great difficulty.

Do not worry! Here I recommend you an easy to use, software AOMEI Partition Wizard Server Edition. It is so common among computer users and most of the people speak highly.

Your problem, there are two choices for you. We have to move the space unallocated behind, and the other is to merge the free space on the data partition. Both functions may not be permitted in Windows 7 disk management. In addition to the two features, more functions are supported to manage your drive.

    Have fun with it!

    Best wishes!

    Thank you

The data store where the VM have enough space? If not, you must change the swap file in a store of different data, here's how: Configure a Machine virtual Swapfile location for a Cluster in the vSphere Client Web

A workaround is on the memory reserve the same RAM size, this way that VMware will not create a pagefile for the virtual machine.

  • Best way to extend the partition?

Do you have a Server 2003 P2V to new hardware.  I used Acronis to clone the server cold, created a new virtual machine, restored to the virtual machine with Acronis, configured with VMWare Converter and then add the VMWare tools, etc.  Everything seems to be fine, except the food not extend the partition.

I put a partition of 100 GB for the virtual machine, but restoring recreated the original score of 68 GB and another 'unallocated' 31 GB.

What is the best way to extend the partition, so we can use all of the 100 GB?

    Thank you for your time.

If a C: partition, you can use extpart, but a c partition: no, you can use the construction in the diskpart tool and extend. With one exception: If you have multiple partitions on a single HARD disk, you will need to use VMware Converter.

  • Cannot extend vmdk (drive C, win2k3) through VC

    Hi team,

I have ESX 3.5, I tried the option of the VC to expand the hard disk (drive c), and clicked on ok, it is said the reconfig finished, but when I change the settings of the machine virtual and verified that it did not the new size, it shows just the old size. I am aware about the other option via the command, but want to know why the VC does not change the size of the disk.

    Thank you

    Amit

Are there snapshots of this VM? You cannot extend vmdk if stereotypes are present.

  • Extend VMFS partition alignment vs. partition

I have a (openfiler) iSCSI storage and a host ESXi (running on its local disk) for testing.

I tried to create VM customers and together start iSCSI. The problem I have is the alignment of partition and extend VMFS partition.

    What happens:

If I want to align parititon, I need to go up and format the LUN with the VMFS. Therefore, the VMFS partition size is fixed. I'm able to increase the size of the LUN, but I can't do anything with regard to the size of the partition resizing VMFS.

Another way is to report the storage for the VM client on raw storage. But this way, I can't align the partition because I can't use fdisk on raw storage on CLI.

My question is: if I want to run SQL server, for example, and want to align the disk for the storage of data and able to rescale the size, how can I do?

    Thank you.

I don't know exactly what you're asking, but "growing" a VMFS volume does not resize the partition, it is done by adding one "scope" (another partition) and then ESX (i) of the volume manager puts the two partitions together to make a large volume.

  • Impossible to extend a partition in vpshere 5

    Hi guys,.

I have two virtual drives assigned to a virtual machine, the second 300 GB drive has two partitions G:200 GB 99% used and H:100 GB 84% used as you can see I'm running out of space on disk G: so I increased the size of the disk of 400GO.

I use dell extpart to extend partition I get an error "Failed to extend the disk space c drive check sufficient etc." even if I see the 100 GB unallocated space on disk 2.

I tried to develop: it worked fine all by car fell on this problem in the past, if yes, how have solved thanks in advance.

I am running MS server 2003

A partition on a disk (virtual or physical) can be divided into different parts. In this case, that means after increasing the disk free space on adjacent disk is at the end of the drive (behind the last partition - H: in your case) and this is the reason why you cannot increase g: what you need to do is to use a partitioning tool to move the partition h: at the end of the drive to free up the space adjacent to the G : partition. Then, you can increase the size of this partition.

To do this, you can use the tools mentioned in http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1004071

  • Tecra M10 - 11U - DVD + cannot read & disk partitions

    Hi all

I just got my new Tecra M10 - 11U and noticed 2 things troubling
    (1) my DVD cannot read DVD + R - Vista recognized the DVD and its type, but cannot open it. Ideas?
    (2) my drive letters are C and E, where is my D drive, is the hidden recovery drive?
Is it safe to change the E to D drive

    Nirko

    Hello

    1. it is not easy to provide a response to this. The question is rather general and who knows what kind of things is on this DVD + R media.
2 D drive probably doesn t exist. You can check if the D drive letter is available for free. If so this means that this player is not available. You can check in computer management > disk management. Choose the second partition and click with the right mouse button > choose the option change the drive letter or path. You will see that D is available here.

Recovery disk doesn t exist and it is not hidden. Toshiba recovery image is saved in the folder called HDDRecovery on the second partition.
    * You can change the drive letters, but before you do anything whatsoever, please create recovery DVD.*
