Cannot get online Tecra 8200

Hi, I'm a big user of PC, but don't really know anything about them, my husband bought me a Tecra, which I tried to connect using the new Netgear router cable to my second hand pc, (I am a user of NTL) all systems are looking good and it says its connected, but all that appears is can not find the server! IM obviously something wrong. Is it everything I need for my Tecra? I have a wireless adapter as well - do I need a card slot wireless network? I'm really confused! To be on the safe side, I had to get someone to help tomorrow, that Im not happy not best subject - I don't really like strangers looking at my! So I need to make sure I have everything ready for when it comes along. Thanks for all tips greatly appreciated

Hello Sarah

First of all it will be interesting to know if you have the same problem with other PC connected to your router or simply with your laptop Tecra. I guess you use LAN connectivity and want sign Tecra Netgear router.

I hope that your router is just configured, then set it to PPPoE (dynamic connection type) and you don't have fixed IP address. Check please LAN properties and do not forget that in the properties TCP/IP IP address should be set to obtain an IP address automatically.

Please also check the State of LAN card in Device Manager and do not forget the network card is installed correctly, listed and also allowed. Please go to control panel > network connections, click with the right button of the mouse by connecting to the Local network and check the STATUS. What is shown here?

If you have the wireless network card you can also establish WIFI connection but this is another theme.

  • Cannot get online after installing windows XP Edition family on my laptop which was origally XP PRO

I have a laptop HP Compaq 6830 s that had xp professional did not get a disc of bone with it when buying. The system crashed 0x0000007B error code. I installed OS XP Home version Pro Version and now I't does not recognize my modem or ethernet. Cannot get online. I'll tho the HP site and they don't have that driver for XP Pro Downloads Home Version. I go to the Device Manager and have question marks on the following - ethernet controller (PCI bus 134, device 0, function 0), network controller (bus PCI 3, device 0, function 0), PCI Device (device function 27 of the PCI bus 0 0), Universal serial bus (PCI bus 0, device 29, function 7) (USB) Universal Serial Bus controller (bus PCI 0) (, 26, function 7 device), unknown device (on PCI bus) properties, the properties of the unknown device (on system compatible ACPI Microsoft) and the properties of video controller (VGA Compatible) (bus PCI 1, device 0, function 0) all the points mark have (Code 28). Is there any wat I can fix this or should I install OS XP PRO?

    Go here-->

Enter the model of your computer.  If you just enter 'Compaq 6830 s' you get 3 choices.

For example, I clicked on the link below and select the link for "XP Professional" coming to this page-->

You're right; There are a large number of items on this page.  You may be able to refine things if you enter your full product number, but if not, here are some general indications:

"" For each of the downloads, click each tab on the download page and read the information on 'Description' improvements,' 'Instructions of Installation","System requirements"," Release Notes, "and"Revision history" before you install the downloaded driver.

    • Start by "Driver - Chipset" and use " a (January 16, 2009).»
    • Then go to "driver - storage.»  Install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver.  Optional, but probably very desirable, install the new version of HP 3D DriveGuard.  You probably don't need (at least for now), the driver of chip card reader (unless you have an external drive of smart card).
    • Then go to "- Audio driver." Install the driver Microsoft UAA and the most recent drivers SoundMax ADI.
    • Then go to 'Pilot - graphics.' Install the new ATI video driver.
    • Then go to "driver - network."  It's a little more complicated.  Install the Marvel Yukon Gigabit Ethernet controller driver.  This will allow you to connect to your cable or DSL or your router by Ethernet cable.  You must determine if your particular laptop has an Intel or Broadcom wireless adapter.  Looking in the Device Manager in the "Network adapter" section, you should be able to make this identification.  Install the driver for the appropriate device.  If you believe that your laptop is Bluetooth compatible, install this driver as well.  The HP "wireless Wizard" is optional.  I would delay installing this at this stage.
    • Then go to "Driver - keyboard, mouse and input devices."  Install the Synaptics Touchpad driver and one for the HP Quick Launch buttons.

At this point, most of your hardware should work correctly.  If there is always warning icons in Device Manager, you should be able to understand... or ask again here.  Read the 'Description' for other downloads to see if this is something you want or need.  Be aware, however, that many "Software" downloads are only updates or patches and not the complete package (which probably would have been preinstalled on a new computer.

If you still have problems with the flash player and this file, the only other suggestion I can offer would be to burn the file to a CD and run the executable file I've first validated from the CD or transfer the 2nd file I posted from the CD to the hard drive, or find the driver on the CD folder.

  • 1 cannot get online in live mail

My operating system is Windows 7.  My e-mail program is Windows Live.  I have an email account with Comcast.  E-mail address of the primary in this account is * address email is removed from the privacy *.  Today, my husband wanted to access the emails to the address secondary e-mail to my account.  This secondary address is [email protected].   To do this, he clicked on "Accounts" at the top of the page on Windows Live; then clicked on 'email '; then type the secondary e-mail address in the box "add your e-mail address.   Best he can remember, he has sent or received messages.  When I had my list of messages on screen again, in what I thought was * address email is removed from the privacy *, and has attempted to send a message, he went to the Outbox because I was offline.  The computer screen then read "work online" in the lower right corner.  When a box appears saying that I was offline and asking if I wanted to go online, I clicked 'YES' every time that at least five times.  I'm still offline.  Curiously, when I all stopped and turned off the computer, waited a minute, then restarts the computer and went to Windows Live, message who had gone to the Outbox had been sent and then appeared in the sent box.  But I was and am, still off line for e-mail, even though I am online for you sent this message.

Please help me get online for e-mail.

You have a third-party program, probably Google Chrome, which interferes with the Windows Internet connection.

When you see the message in offline mode , open Internet Explorer and then press Alt + F to open the file menu. If work offline is selected, deselect it. If it is not selected, select it, wait a few moments and then deselect. Now check if Windows Live Mail is still offline. If this is the case, repeat the cycle to select/deselect in IE until WLMail Gets the message.

How to track what bad connection is?

Sometimes, when I open my IE8 browser, it will automatically make a connection to the internet, but sometimes it cannot, and the browser displays a blank page. I already check the internet option for the connection and check that you select the option of middel - whenever there is no link, make a dial connection for something like that.  If the display of a blank page, when I check the connection setting, I get no idea why the first - ever the dial for the connection is selected.

Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site and search for the Windows XP drivers for your specific model number.

If there are Windows XP drivers, then download to a folder on your hard drive and install them all, starting with the card mother/chipset drivers, LAN, Audio, USB, SATA, etc, and so on.

I am running windows vista and installed updates and now cannot get online.  I tried to run the system restore, but that did not help.  This happened once before when the only web sites that I could access were secure web sites, I have changed the security settings and that fixes the problem.  Nothing works for now.

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

Error message after you install an update of Windows Internet Explorer from Windows Update or from Microsoft Update: "cannot display the webpage".

If not help to tweak the parameters of your third-party firewall, try the following:

    1. disable your antivirus, all modules of Norton (as applicable), a real-time protection provided by an anti-spyware application (with the exception of Windows Defender; includes the Tea Timer of Spybot, AVG AS guard.exe, SpySweeper guards, etc.), disable the third-party firewall AND THEN select Windows Firewall.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) except #4 below until your antivirus application has been reactivated!  If you use a free ZA firewall, you may need to uninstall instead of disable.

2 uninstall 'update Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 7 (or 8) for Vista (KB976325)' or "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB976325)" via start | Control Panel | The Maintenance and the system (if you use Classic view, skip this step). Windows Update | Installed updates day & reboot.

    3 d - c #1 above.

4 manually run Windows Update and install important updates available (i.e. KB976325).

5 reboot & make sure everything in #1 above is on again and, if necessary, disable the Windows Firewall and enable (or reinstalling) your third-party firewall.
