Cannot install KB2360131 on locked system XP SP3

It takes a bit of history.

I work for a software company that writes software for ATMS (ATM cash) by a Microsoft approved locking method that prevents access to Microsoft Windows Desktop for running our application. These ATMs are under WIndows XP SP3 and the base of IE6 installation. IE7 and IE8 have not been installed on the test computer.

Due to this locking and these ATMs do not connect to the Internet, but wrap each executable Windows Update in a msi file. This method has worked for more than three years until now. Only the Microsoft cumulative updates for Internet Explorer do not settle by using this method. All other install correctly.

The msi (created using Installshield 2008) performs a custom action to run the executable file of Cumulative Update.

The command line is:

msiexec /i MS10 - 071.msi / quiet/norestart/log MS10 - 071.log.

Due to the inability to install we update the command line for the Cumulative Update to include logging for the update as well. This paper has the following:

[KB2360131.log]

6.234: ================================================================================

6.234: 2010-11-01 16:59:37.828 (local)

6.234: c:\fe8c21567ae3d8b6fbe20b17092d10\update\update.exe (version 6.3.13.0)

6.297: hotfix started with following command line: / quiet /norestart /log:X:\SMARTATM\Activity

6.297: in function GetReleaseSet, line 1240, RegQueryValueEx failed with error 0x2

6.328: an unexpected error during execution of condition sine qua non of the line 1 (Test.IE7InstallBlock.Section)

6.328: installation KB2360131 cancelled.

6.328: Update.exe extended error code = 0xf00d

6.328: Update.exe return code was masked to 0 x 643 for MSI custom action compliance.

When we execute the msi file on the desktop (after termination of our application), the package seems to install. The user under which runs our application has administrator privileges, but it is not the default XP administrator account.

Why this update does not install so that all others succeed?

Thank you.

Just as an info - none of these are not yet installed.

I now work with Microsoft Partner representative assigned to solve this problem.

Thank you for your help.

  • Cannot install the fax in windows xp sp3

When I try to install the fax component, the installation is complete. However, I don't see the fax software installed in the start menu > all programs > Accessories > communications... what could be the problem? Please help me. I use windows xp pro service pack 3.

I'm afraid that I don't have a solution proven to this situation.  The following might work, but I do know for sure that he will do so.

Log in as a user with "Computer administrator" privileges

Create a Restore Point or back up the registry with C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT , or for protection full and create and save a disc image, use something like Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost, Casper or similar.

In order to decompress the files you downloaded, you must use the EXPAND command from a command prompt window.  Let me suggest the following method:

    • Create a new folder in the same directory as the file containing the compressed files. For example, suppose you have extracted the files in a folder on your desktop named XPFax (C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop\XPFax). Create a new folder on your desktop named XPFaxOut (C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop\XPFaxout)
    • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
    • Type the following line in the window command prompt black, substituting your correct username and you have used the folder names and press Enter (the text will wrap below, but only press enter at the end of the line)

      EXPAND C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop\XPFax\*.* C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop\XPFaxout\ r

At this point, your XPFaxout should have all of the 35 files with the correct file extensions (DLL, EXE, etc.).

    Copy the files as follows:

Copy 19 DLL files and 4 EXE files in C:\Windows\system32

Copy the same files DLL 19 and 4 EXE files in C:\Windows\system32\dllcache

Copy the 3 files in CHM and HLP on C:\Windows\Help 1 file
Copying 1 file to C:\Windows\addins ECF
Copy 1 INF file in C:\Windows\inf
Copy 1 file INI to C:\Windows\system32
    Copy the 1 H file in C:\Windows\system32
    Copy the 4 VOC files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\Common Coverpages

You have now all the files where they are supposed to be.

  • Cannot install new programs as "system administrator has set policies to prevent Installation.

It comes to my computer at home, not on any network.  More and more, I get this error message.  There must be an easy fix.  Hope someone can show me the way... Thank you... Marv

    Hi MarvReinke

    1. you are the administrator of the computer?
2 do you have standard user permissions to install programs?

It seems that this administrator has blocked installation of programs on the computer. (UAC) user account controls have been set accordingly. If you are the computer administrator, you can try to connect as an administrator and see if you can install the programs correctly. You can also try to change UAC settings to solve the problem.

You can check the links below for more information-

  • HyperBowl will not start in XP SP3 / cannot install Windows update KB924867 (service pack is newer than the update...)

original title: hyperbowl will not start in XP SP3 / cannot install KB924867

    Hello

I just reinstalled windows XP and done all the updates. I then reinstalled hyperbowl 3d and it will not open up. Now it used to be that if you ran the update:

Update for Windows XP (KB924867) http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?DisplayLang=en&id=6446

It would solve this problem (see http://hyperbowl3d.com/oldsupport.html).

I downloaded the update, and it says:

"Setup has detected that the version of Service Pack for this system is newer than the update you are applying"

So I can't install the update. Is it possible to reinstall this hotfix without remove SP3 or is there another work around, I can use?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Satellite M30 - cannot install Power Saver on XP SP3

I got my Satellite M30 to the computer store where they have reinstalled XP pro SP3 without my Toshiba restore CD

They have installed the drivers from Toshiba for some things, but not "Toshiba Power Saver'.
I downloaded and extracted the exe 'Toshiba power saver' for the M30 and it will not be implemented.

Then, I downloaded "Toshiba common modules" and "Toshiba Utilities" and have the same problem with those.

All extracted, but nothing happens when I click on setup.exe.

    What I am doing wrong?
    Any help much appreciated

In my opinion it s for a problem with your system and not with the Toshiba tools and utilities the fact is that the other might install.

So the problem could be your SP3.
It is only a hypothesis, but you should check this.
Install only the operating system Win XP, SP2 and then try to install the drivers of Toshiba, tools and utilities in the right order!

Check if the latter won't work.

  • DisplayLink Core Software cannot be installed on this operating system - Dynadock

I have an other laptop manufacturers, and I want to use it in my home office, I bought a Toshiba Dynadock. I installed the software and, during this process, a message is displayed as follows:

"DisplayLink Core Software cannot be installed on this operating system"

I have Windows XP Professional, version 2002, service pack 1

I checked my Services and DisplayLink is NOT present. All other elements of the Dynadock work very well (keyboard, mouse, camera, network etc.), but the screen is blank and I have to use scren laptop which goes against the whole object to have the Dynadock first!

What can I do to load this software? Are there settings that I can change to allow the DisplayLink load?

    Any help welcome!

    Hello

I'm not expert Dynadock but one thing is very interesting. According to your assignment, you use Windows XP Home SP1 edition. I wonder what will happen if you have installed SP2 with all latest updates.

I don't know about you, but maybe you really need to install SP2. I don't see any other reason why this software cannot be installed.
