Cannot install Office XP on Windows 7 compatibility pack

I downloaded the compatibility pack Office XP and that you try to install it, but after clicking 'Yes' in the user account control dialog asking if I allow the program to make changes to my computer nothing happens. I tried to run in compatibility mode for Win XP and Vista, but the same thing happens.

Grateful for any help on how to install what I need to be able to open new Office file formats.

Thanks, but I didn't ask if she did not appear in the installed updates , or if you had hidden it.

  • cannot install update security for Windows XP (KB2686509)

cannot install update security for Windows XP (KB2686509)

    Hello, gsfl Jg,

Open Windows Update and check if KB2686509 and KB2676562 are or are not installed.

When you tried to install the update, you would have received an error code.  Please return this zip code which lies in Windows Update.

Why this update is offered again several times?

Windows updates are revived until the update is installed on your computer. If this update is already, perhaps an installation failure has occurred. Check log files to install KB for the error codes. For example, the log file of installation KB for this security update would probably "C:\Windows\ KB2686509.log"
For more information about how to resolve these problems, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

958051 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958051/) you receive a "0x8007F0F4" error code when you try to install the updates on the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site

What should I do if the installation of this update fails with the error "0x8007F0F4"?

If you receive the "0x8007F0F4" error when you try to install this security update, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Faultykeyboard.log file that is located in the folder %windir%. This log file contains information about the registered keyboard layout files that are not in the folder % Windir%\System32. The log file will resemble the following:

      Keyboard1.dll.\Layoutfiles\keyboard2.dll C:\Windows\System\Kbda1.dll

Note In this example, the first entry is just a file name. The second entry includes a relative path with the name of the file. The third category includes a full path of the file.

    2. Copy the files that are listed in the Faultykeyboard.log log file in the System32 folder.

Note Contact Microsoft technical support if you can't find the Faultykeyboard.log file.

Cannot install network printer on Windows 7.  Detects the printer then it says cannot locate the driver.  All my vista and XP machines have no problem finding drivers. It is a 32-bit 64-bit vs questions?  How can I fix it?
Windows Server 2008 network.  Printers have ip addresses. Install the drivers from the Print Manager.  /Terminal Server Workgroup installation.

It's the same situation with XP.  The print driver names must match.  If you notice the name of the printer driver that uses XP is a name different from the one that is installed when you plug in the device on the Windows 7 computer.  This is just my assumption, please correct me if this isn't the case.

The real solution is to install a 32-bit driver on the XP machine that uses the same name that the 64-bit driver and share a printer using this driver or find a 64-bit driver that uses the same name as the 32-bit driver installed on XP and install the driver on XP.

    Hello

On Windows 8, you can ride. ISO directly files. It is a new feature of Windows 8.

However, on Windows 7, you need to burn the ISO to a disc.  If a CD or a third-party DVD burning program is installed on your computer, this program could open when you double-click on the disk image file.

  • Impossible to install Office 2003 on Windows 7 Starter netbook

Hi - I'm looking for help in setting up my office 2003 DVD on my netbook.  I tried to connect a DVD player to my netbook (not good) and followed with a copy of the contents of entires of the DVD to my netbook via a flash drive (also not good).

In both scenarios, I get the following error:
Installation of Microsoft Office 2003: error 1723.  There is a problem with the Windows Installer package.  A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. »

Cords or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi Steve Heff,.

You receive this error Windows Installer error 1723 when installing a program. Installation can be terminated prematurely, or there may be a fatal error during installation. Windows Installer error 1723 occurs because Windows Installer cannot start the source files for the configuration of the software application you are trying to install. These files may be missing or damaged. In general, the original MSI installation files will be cached in the ' C: winntInstaller directory before installation begins. Inappropriate caching of a file MSI is main causes of errors, too.

First of all, check if the Windows Installer service is started in the Services.

    1. click on start.
2 type Service to start the search.
    3. Locate the Windows Installer Service in the Services window.
    4. make sure that the service is started, if it is to restart the service and check.

Now try to install Microsoft Office and check.

If you are unable to install, then I suggest that you uninstall all files related to Microsoft Office 2003 by using Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.

See link: use the utility Windows Install CleanUp to remove Office 2000, Office XP or Office 2003: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Now try to install Office and check.

  • Cannot install weekly timer in Windows 7, error: the program is incopmpatible.

    Former program - Day Timer - dtab.exe

BDTA program runs under xp service pac (3) d on the old computer.  New computer has windows 7.  Transfer program from the old computer to new computer via flash drive (do not have the original installation CD probably diskette).

Windows 7 flags program as incompatible, but all the various solutions do not work.  Cannot find an original manufacturer - probably out of business.

Any ideas on the realization of compatibility or compatible location new program that replaces the BDTA will be appreciated.

    Hello waynebennet,

You can not simply to transfer program files that they need to write to the registry. You will need the executable of the program file to install the program under Windows 7. It is perhaps not compatible but as Azam said, you might be able to run in Compatibility Mode.

If you have an older application for Windows XP or Vista, which does not work in Windows 7, you can make it work properly by running the program in compatibility mode.
    1. to start, find the application or the shortcut which is the cause of the problem, and then right-click on it and select Properties.
    2. then, select compatibility in the menu tabs at the top of the properties page:
    3. now check the box run this program in compatibility mode "dethrone" and select the operating system you want to emulate. For most applications, this will be Windows XP SP2. Once you are finished, click OK.
    4. When you then run the application, it must run under compatibility using the OS mode you have selected. If it runs properly, try another selection of OS in step 3, and then try again.

Run the installer in compatibility mode:

1 right click on the file icon installation.
    2. click on properties > compatibility.
    3. Select the compatibility mode for Windows XP.
    4. click on OK.
    5. run the installation program.

After installation, run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode by doing the same thing with the installed program.

    I hope this helps.

    Sincerely,

    Marilyn

  • Cannot install Quake 4 on Windows 7?

I get an error library not registered message when trying to install Quake 4 on Windows 7?  The error message is autorun.exe.  How can I solve this problem?

    Hello Keith,

I install Quake 4 on my Windows 7 system, but the steps that I took for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SOC to run under Windows 7 can help.

    1. make sure that all of the artifacts of the installation fails are deleted. (files and registry entries).
    2. go to the website of ID and make sure you have the latest available patches.
    3. ensure that your viseo and DirectX drivers are the latest version - VERY important.
    4. install Quake 4 in administrator mode, see below.
    5. apply the fixes in administrator mode.
    6. When you run Quake 4 use the compatibility checker - a selection from the context menu. I checked the video problems and that the program needed more privileges. I was using XP SP3.
    7. after running the game, we hope successfully, and then click 'next' in the compatibility checker, and save the changes to the program, so it does not work the next time... ;-)

    Good luck
