Cannot install programs after redirection file documents to drive mapped

I am more able to install programs - after changing the location of the documents folder in Vista on a mapped drive, the operating system tries to redirect the installation to the location of the documents folder and the installation fails.

If I return the documents folder to its default location, the installation of new software is successful.

  • Cannot install programs that depend on temporary files

When you try to install several different programs, each one comes with an error that it cannot find a temporary file (often .exe) that it needs to continue. The file is always in the AppData/Local/Temp folder and is simply not there. Any suggestions that could mitigate this problem?

    Hi Liam Kelley,

    1. What is the complete error message you receive when installing programs?
    2. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    3. When was the last time it was working fine?
    4. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

I suggest that you try to install programs using administrator privileges and check if that helps.

    • Right-click on the Setup file, and then click on run as administrator.

    Method 2

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • Cannot run programs after updates

On 17 downloaded and installed updates, Service pack 2 for windows, service pack 2 for Office 2007, update KB967642 for office, 5 a security updates for office, silver lamp, after that, I found that all installed widows games ie. solitair, spiders etc: wouldn't, for game executable error XXX has stopped working. This has happened once before and after contacting the provider of my PC, we finished by performing a restore factory setting which has removed all installed programs. I don't want to do what I've only had the PC since January 2009 and already done 2 reset factory for similar reasons. I also now had a breakdown with an audio editing program that has bad but on the import of a music file, the program closes. I uninstalled all updates except office service Pack 2 and update 967642 KB giving not the option uninstall programs and features which had no effect on the games. I uninstalled the software for the program audio and reinstalled from the CD of the program, but I still have the same problem. I could not perform a restore as there is no restore point before the installation of the update. The factory reset was carried out on May 11, 2009, the date where the full system has been updated. My OS is Vista Home premium Acer Aspire M3201, processor Quad-Core AMD Athlon (TM) 9150e 1.80 GHz. ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics onboard, the DD Realtek Audio Manager. Is it possible to restore these items and all the other programs that I've not yet used and can be done? I'm only a user base with no or very little technical knowledge.

2438651 how to solve problems that may occur when you install, uninstall, or upgrade a program on a Windows computer

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2438651

    Substitute:

Unregister Windows Installer and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. in the menu 'Start', click on ' execute:.»

    2. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

    3. in the menu 'Start', click 'run '.

    4. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec/regserver", and then press ENTER.

If this is insufficient, the I would say to install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and run that to remove the Java remains Setup files that can cause problems with your current installation.

For more information, visit the below mentioned link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/290301

Click Start Orb, in the box, type search: Regedit.

    Highlight: HKEY_lOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/services/msiserver

Verify that the SYSTEM account has full control. If it does not, add the SYSTEM account with full control.

Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk.

Hi, I bought my Asus laptop last 2 weeks and have been experiencing problems with my Windows 8.

I thought that's not my computer, but with the update of windows.

The problem I encountered is not able to install programs like Winrar. Whenever I tried to install Winrar, a window will appear with internet Explorer. Unfortunately, I checked the box "do not I asked again" and I didn't notice what he says. But I remembered, that it has a html Web site. After that, whenever I tried to install winrar, plenty of internet explore appears "over and out" means that it appear and disappear as more than 20 times and I just couldn't open and install the program.

I just re install my windows 8 and I thought that's not something that I have installed on the outside that caused this problems other than the update of windows.

Currently the only program that I have installed google chrome. And the automatic repair does not work.

Hope that someone could help. Thank you very much.

The in Internet Explorer SmartScreen filter helps keep your PC secure by checking the files downloaded and web content in applications to protect you from malicious software and web content potentially dangerous. Before you open a downloaded file unknown or potentially dangerous, Windows displays a warning. If SmartScreen detects potentially dangerous web content in an application, Windows will display a warning instead of the content.

If you are sure that you download the programs from reliable sources, you can disable Smart screen filter and then to download the programs.

  • Cannot install win10 using iso file training camp

I'm on OSX EL Capitan, fully updated.

Boot camp is not allowing me to use the ISO file to install windows iso 10 file.

It keeps prompting 'NO USB key. There is no usb drive connected to the system. Please insert a USB key to continue. "

He does not allow me to use the iso file, regardless of the option that I check or uncheck. It's extremely frustrating.

What is the year/model of your Mac? Your signature says 2013 iMac.

2015 and subsequent Macs use only ISO and create an internal partition called OSXRESERVED.

2012-2014 macs need an external USB2 Flash drive, which will be erased/formatted by BC Assistant. The ISO file needs to be disassembled and some elements of the ISO are copied on the USB.

Mac 2011 and more uses a physical Windows and built-in DVD in the optical drive must be fully functional.

  • Cannot install Windows 8 on the replacement hard drive

I got the replacement from Dell hard drive which he said would come with Windows 8 and pre-installed drivers. Well, I installed the hard drive and he said no. OS can be found. I didn't have a chance to make my own backup discs, but Dell sent a CD Windows 8 recovery media with the laptop and now with the replacement hard drive.

When you try to install Windows 8 on the new hard drive, I get to the part where it tells me to choose a partition to install Windows 8 on and none of them will not let me. There are 5 to choose from and I don't know what to do to get past this. The largest partition either 5A about 934 GB of space left out of 1 TB, but as I said I can't choose it or one of the other ones for the installation.

You just have to click on next, in any case, despite the message?  Otherwise:

Start on the DVD of Windows 8, instead of install now, click repair your computer, Advanced Options, invites ... when it opens, type the following:

    DiskPart
    Select disk 0
    clean

    Then, try to install.

The above will remove all the data partition and disk, allowing you to do a clean install on an empty drive (these scores are not required, and Windows will create its own partitions (two) he needs to install and run).
