Cannot install Quicktime for Windows XP - "network resource is unavailable.

OK, here are a few basic rules on this issue:

1. I use Quicktime.msi version 7.72.80.56 on a Windows XP system.

2 Quicktime MUST be installed from a batch file.  Do not ask why or try to tell me how to do that or tell me there is more easy or better ways to do it.  If you can't help with an command line to the batch file install only, please do not respond.

3. it is a new PERFECTLY any new installation of Windows XP.  There is NOTHING else on this system.  There has been NO other program of ANY SORT (not Quicktime, not ITunes, not any program from any provider never) installed before on this OS at all.  This operating system has already been used for any purpose.  There was not a single open web page, not only one other task run manually after the installation.  These are all FACTS that are not open to speculation or discussion.  If you want to try to tell me that something is corrupt in my operating system or that there is another program interfering, or that I have a virus, don't answer please.

4 ONLY Quicktime must be installed.  Period.  If you want tell me trying to install ITunes, or a 3rd party, program, please do not respond.

Sorry to be a jerk to this topic but I've lost all patience with people who try to tell me that I don't want what I said I mean really or I want something different than what I said that I wanted.  I don't want really really exactly what I'm saying I want.  Trying to prove that you know more that I am offering opinions as to why I should use some program 3rd party or saying that I would not install from a batch file does nothing more to irritate me and lost time that all parties concerned should focus on more useful efforts.

Now to the questions:

I try to install Quicktime via a batch file.  I have extracted the QuickTime.msi, AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, and AppleApplicationSupport.msi (from QuickTimeInstaller.exe with switch/extract) in the C:\Windows folder.  My batch file is also located there.  Here's what I have in the batch file (only functional lines, other unrelated stuff has been removed):

@echo installation QuickTime.msi (1/3)

msiexec /i "C:\Windows\QuickTime.msi" / passive DESKTOP_SHORTCUTS = No. SCHEDULE_ASUW = 0 ASUWINSTALLED = 0

@echo 1/3 installed!

@echo installation QuickTime.msi (2/3)

msiexec /i "C:\Windows\AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi" / passive

@echo 2/3 installed!

@echo installation QuickTime.msi (3/3)

msiexec /i "C:\Windows\AppleApplicationSupport.msi" / passive

@echo 3/3 installed!

del %SystemRoot%\Tasks\AppleSoftwareUpdate.job

This operation fails with no feedback at all.

Then I tried to type manually in the following:

msiexec /i "C:\Windows\QuickTime.msi".

This translates into a window telling me that it can't find QuickTime.msi and it is looking for the following: c:\docume~1\benchm~1\locals~1\temp\ixp927.tmp.  There no record on the system named point mark, or anything similarly similar to this name.  This is an invalid path and name of the file on this computer.

If I press the Browse button and point to the correct location for QuickTime.msi (C:\Windows), it will work correctly, but is not an option.  It must run unattended and automatically since the batch file.

Is there a switch (or any other means without assistance) to indicate to the program that QuickTime.msi is located in C:\Windows?  I also tried:

msiexec /i "% ~ dp0QuickTime.msi" and it also fails.

The extracted .msi files are not corrupt, they will install if I run them manually, but still, this is not an option.

  • Cannot install Games for Windows Live

    I need to install Games for Windows Live to play several games on this laptop.

    When I run gfwlivesetup, all downloads very well and gets to the point where it installs GFWL and I get the following error every time:

    "An error occurred during the installation of assembly ' Microsoft.VC90.CRT, version ="9.0.21022.8", publicKeyToken ="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"processorArchitecture ="x 86", type ="win32 "'. See Help and Support for more information. »

    Looking through several log files, I discovered the error to be (0x8007078f) code that relates to, "connection failed: the machine you log on is protected by an authentication firewall." The specified account is not allowed to authenticate on the machine. »

    So two things come to mind. The account is authenticated and firewall. Well, my account is an administrator account and right click on gfwlivesetup and choose "run as Administrator" does not change a thing. Well, screw the router, I just take the right out of my router modem jack and plug rather the ethernet of my laptop, without going through all the ports that can be blocked. The only firewall that is up and running (the only one installed) is the MS OS firewall, so let's just turn this baby off and still the same error.

    So if we ignore all the error code (0x8007078f) completely, then we can treat the error originally presented... I see basically: processorArchitecture = "x 86", type = "win32".

    Well, I'm running a Windows 7 64 - Bit, and my processor is a Core i7-740... I am out of the resources here. I have seen many people having the same problem or similar (Google reveals a lot). So if someone is willing to stick with me throughout this, I intend to see resolved (at least for me). I only pray that as I did not reinstall Win 7 or make repairs. They do not understand all of these DVDs with the laptop.

  • Cannot install updates for Windows 7 SP1

    Hello

    I tried for awhile now to switch to Windows 10 without luck ( http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-win_upgrade/windows-7-key-not-recognized/9a66ab9a-819a-4285-9461-64e7528db222?tm=1450545430339&auth=1 ). In the end, I decided to reinstall Windows 7 RTM, install all updates and then upgrade to Windows 10.

    Unfortunately, I seem to be impossible to install updates for Windows 7 now. Everything was going fine until Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320 installed. After a few mistakes, WU start looking for updates for hours. I've tried everything as suggested here without a bit of luck. In the end, I decided to leave it to search through the night and finally it does find and download updates about 300.

    Installation of these updates takes about 4 hours and Windows restarted and tried to configure the new updates, restarted saying once again he could not configure the updates of Windows and it will undo the changes. And it's been like that for over an hour.

    So as soon as now I can not even update Windows 7, not to mention the upgrade of Windows 10.  Any ideas? I'm sick of the Windows updates, causing problems.

    Installation sometimes loads of updates at a time can cause problems. When you access the list of the 300 updates Windows updates to odd day again, deselect all of them and then choose the oldest (for example) 50 and see if they install on their own.

    Sometimes do fall off a long list of updates and try to install more small pieces may help them to install.

    Is not sure, but its worth a try as a first shot.

    (I know what you mean though issues of update.) It makes you wonder what's going on sometimes :-()

    If this does not help, is there required failure account error codes?

  • Cannot install updates for Windows XP SP3

    Well for some reason, I am unable to update a new installation of Windows XP Pro after installing SP3.

    I tried the following:

    Reset.

    IE6 is in tools > set windows update (gave me the message of not being able to be updated unless the update to sp3 which I am already)
    The Windows Security Center on the left hand side click on "check the latest updates from Windows Update." Got the same page as described before.
    Microsoft Windows browsed forums - found a lot of comments saying problem has been resolved by updating to IE8.
    Updated to IE8. Restarted. Waited to see yellow shield in the corner saying windows has been downloaded updates. There can be no.
    Click "Check the latest updates" once again, he launched IE8 but led me to the same page, telling me to SP3 again, I already have)
    Checked under System Properties I'm at SP3.
    The active firewall settings. Make an exception for wupdmgr and wuaclt. Think the windows firewall can block updates.
    Waited for updates again. Yet none came through.
    Click "Check the latest updates", waited a bit came updates.
    Entered the update IE8\Tools\Windows and got the same message to update again.

    There is no other software virus on the PC at the moment.
    I was Imaging PCs for several weeks, and this is the first time I have encountered this problem.

    I have .net framework 2.0 and 3.0 is installed. They have been installed prior to service pack 3. I tried to uninstall, but it wouldn't let me, and I'm not entirely convinced that is the problem. Any ideas?

    This PC has been infected by a virus previously. However until I did the reinstall I had deleted the partition previous and had the drive reformatted when you set up...

    After a clean install, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything below in order before connecting otherwise the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other disk to the computer:

    1. make sure that the Windows Firewall is enabled.

    2 uninstall all now invalid Norton, McAfee, etc., free version of test which have perhaps been reinstalled when you reinstalled Windows, run the appropriate removal tool, [1] before installing the antivirus of your choice application (for example, Microsoft Security Essentials - free).

    3 then only get to Windows Update & get the fully-patched computer! [2]

    4. ensure that Windows Defender is turned on (Vista & Win7) or installed (WinXP)... unless you opt to install Microsoft Security Essentials which will disable the default Defender.

    ... Also ran ccleaner and clean registry, it has not helped either.

    No, it's only issues worse, I assure you!

    TIP: If you ever think that your registry database must be cleaned, repaired, amplified, to the point, cured, twisted, fixed or optimized (it isn't), read http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 and draw your own conclusions.

    original title: error 80070490 and installation disc?

    Dell, Vista, x 64 laptop.

    I can not install updates, including Service Pack 2 and IE 8. I managed to fix the other error messages, but this one is a winner.

    I can't follow the steps here because I don't have an installation DVD. The laptop doesn't have a CD/DVD-ROM internal drive and did not come with a disc because everything was preinstalled. Even if I had a disc, my computer does not recognize the CD/DVD-ROM external drive when it is plugged in (a problem at a time!), so it would always help. "The System Update tool does not work on this machine, probably because of that pesky little" compatible operating systems: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 "requirement. I so need SP2 to download the tool which will allow my computer to install SP2? Nice little catch-22 there. I agree with the irony. I disagree with not being able to install updates at all, ever.

    Is it possible to re - install without a disk? Can I solve this problem at all or I'll have to take the laptop to Best Buy and ask them to do some voodoo Geek Squad to it?

    Hello

    Check if your computer has a recovery partition.
    If the computer has a recovery partition, use the recovery partition to restore the computer to factory settings.
    Note:   All programs and data will be lost.  You can make a backup of all important data and reinstall programs.

    You can also contact the manufacturer of your computer, and asking for a disc.

    Maybe a stupid question, but I would like to know why you need to install driver WLAN. As far as I know your laptop comes with Vista Home Premium. The recovery image (factory settings) contains the right WLAN driver.
    You have lost the feature or what?
    Are you still using an original preinstalled OS or you try ti install your own operating system?
