  • Windows cannot check the updates - C800044E error code

    Hello

Since yesterday, I get a notification icon in the taskbar indicating that windows cannot check the updates. If I click on the icon and then click on the button "check for updates" in the new window, the search end reports that an error has occurred and the error code is C800044E. This happens every time after the computer starts and when I try to manually check for updates.

The operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit with OEM license.

I already googled for this error code, but none of the suggestions found during the search worked. Mode by default with no results, I installed the MicrosoftFixit50202 (have not tried yet aggressive mode). I ran the malware Microsoft Windows (without threats found) removal tool. I downloaded and installed manually the KB947821 update for vista, also without results.

The last successful update is dated more than a month previously, and I assume that at the same time, some important updates may appear. Can someone help me with this problem?

I've already solved the problem by using the system restore (I used a restore enjoyed a week point).

I'll answer your questions anyway, in which case this may help solve one similar problem to others:

    1 Vista SP2 (all updates important/critical installed as of October 1, 2010)

    2. Eset NOD32 antivirus/antispyware with current subscription. No third-party firewall (just the windows firewall).

3-4. I have never installed a Norton or McAfee application on this computer, but I'm not sure if a trial version of Norton AV is pre-installed with this computer (if it did, I removed it when I originally set up the computer - almost 3 years ago).

  • Cannot install Windows updates. Error code 0 x 80070057.

After repairing my grandsons laptop, I thought do him a favor and make sure that it has been updated. His laptop is running Windows 8 / 64-bit. After verification of updates and find that there are 55 necessary updates, I proceeded to the d/l and install them. When the computer is restarted, I got the message about the update fails and go back. I then tried to install updates grouped older first of all with the same result. After the search for solutions, I ran to the troubleshooting Windows Updater which showed

    OT: update windows 8

    Problems found

Recent updates installation problems not fixed

Check missing or corrupt files detected

Some security settings are missing or have changed fixed

    Windows Update 0 X error code 80070057 (2014-04-26-T-11_59_49P) fixed

doesn't really tell me much or what to do. Other research has forced me to do a "clean boot" and tried again to install the updates with the same results

So I spent the afternoon installing all the updates (all 55 of them) one at a time to see those who failed and caused a back. Isolated to these

I then ran the troubleshooting of update again with the same results. Check the updates again. Funny after having spent the whole afternoon doing so he showed that I have ever had checked updates, never installed updates. Two updates that did not are now installed and another two appear as needing installed (KB2903938 & KB2862335) that fails when you try to install.

My questions - are these necessary updates? Critical? If so how can I get to install them?

What a pain. I don't even want to install optional updates or upgrade to 8.1 for fear of having to repeat this experience.

The issue seems to be the corruption of Windows.

  • Cannot install the updates, receive error message: automatic updates has been disabled by the administrator, but I don't.

Original title: How can I, as an administrator, turn on automatic updates, whenever I try, I get an error message saying that automatic updates has been disabled by the administrator.  I didn't do it, then?

    Question stands as is.

    Hello

    1. have you made any changes to the computer before the show?

    2. What antivirus application is installed on the computer?

    3. What are the different user accounts on the computer?

This problem occurs if Windows Update has been disabled by one of the following settings:

    · Group Policy

    · System policy
    · Registry

I suggest you follow these methods and check.

Method 1: Perform the clean boot and try to install the updates.

To do this, follow the steps in this link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

NOTE: Once you check the functionality, follow the suggestions under steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state.

Method 2: Try to turn on the auto update by following the steps in the link below.

How to configure automatic updates by using Group Policy or of registry settings

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/328010

Method 3: Turn off the antivirus application and try to download the updates and check.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 4: Perform a full scan of the computer using the following antivirus applications.

    Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Malicious software removal tool: http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • Cannot install the update 'KB3000850', error A 80071, 90

    Separated from this thread.

I do not think that this problem is caused by not only not the update of KB2919355 previously installed.  I have a new laptop HP bought yesterday and started to install all updates Windows 8.1 last night.  Since it was a new PC, I had to install updates more than 60 who took me more time of 6 hours.  After three "restarts" after several installations of update, the only pending update was the "KB3000850". When I tryied to install it, I got this error "A 80071, 90.  I tried a 'clean' reboot and got the same error.  I then checked if I had the KB2919355 update installed, and this is, so this isn't the problem.  Help, please.  Thank you.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft Community.

A 80071, 90 error appears when the files that are required by Windows are used (locked) by other programs. Programs, such as antivirus programs that run when Windows starts, can lock system files.

I suggest you to run the fixit from following link to see if it helps.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941/en-us .

If it doesn't, I would also say that you run the following commands at the command prompt.

Open an elevated command prompt. To do this:

    A. drag from the right edge of the screen and then click on Search. (If you use a mouse, point to the lower right of the screen and then click Search).

    B. type command prompt in the Search box, right click guestand then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

    C. type the following commands. Press ENTER after each command.

    1 DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    2 DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Note: It may take a few minutes for each operation in order to fill.

Close the command prompt and try to install the Windows updates.

If it does not, please go ahead and install the update manually by downloading from the Windows update website and check if it works.

I hope this helps. Keep us up-to-date with the State.

Automatic update of Windows on April 10, 2012... all the updates installed except KB2656370.  I tried to install twice and it will not - get error code 0 x 643.

I agree - whenever I had a failed installation it was possible to solve it by going to the manual installation.  This time was a little more difficult because the Download Center does not recognize KB2656370, so thank you for providing the link.
