  Each update for SQL Server 2005 on my computer Vista Home Premuim fails. The most recent example is:

  Other updates have been ad are successful, although I found out recently that it is the recovery disc option to create under maintenance contract. I fdound the recdisk.exe file, but running it does nothing.

  2 are all the other updates installed successfully?

  3. who is the antivirus program installed on your computer?

  Follow the steps mentioned below.

  Method 1: This problem occurs especially if there are conflicts between the Windows security update and the application program on your computer, mainly the antivirus program.

  Temporarily disable the antivirus program or the security on your computer and try to install the update.

  Thanks for the update Mick. You should be able to double-click the file to open it in the command prompt. I did not write the script, so I can't tell you why you were unable to launch it by double clicking. Right click and choose to run it in command line will still work.

  @ Icom756pro I do not work for Microsoft, then you would be best suited to forward your complaint directly to them. I understand your frustration, however. I can only recommend that you try the script that I've linked to page 1 of this topic. If this does not resolve the problem then simply hide the update. You should not be prompted to install later.

Frankly, I bypass the first step and start with the second stage if this is the only update, you are having issues with that.

  Do you have other accounts of users on this PC?  If you install this update from the main account?

  You should get the number of the update of the updated history list and then download the file here: Microsoft downloads.
  If sure that nothing else is running, and then install the update manually.  Give it a try and let us know the results.
