Cannot install win7 with USB

I can't install win7 with my key USB got the error msg like "Setup could not create a new partition or system to locate a system partition. see logs of installation for more information". don't know how to go further. any ideas? and the partition type is "primary". other partitions are of type "logical." help me pls...

Try the following:
Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
Click Install now
Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)
Click on drive Options
Select the disc/s click on Delete
Click new
Click on apply
Click OK
Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

If the problem persists, you can reinstall Windows XP, update your BIOS then try the installation again. Its possible that you have created the bootable USB key is damaged, try to create another copy, or try to install using a dvd player external usb.

  • Portege Z830: Cannot install Win7, complains about driver CD/DVD

    Hello!

I have a brand new Portege Z830 and as usual wanted to start by installing a new installation of Windows 7 x 64 (that I don't want the software provided and cannot be trusted, that it is safe in any case). I have saved all of the disk, prepared a flashdisk USB bootable with Windows Setup and it. The flashdisk OK boots, Windows wonder about my language and keyboard, and then shows a screen where I can choose between installation, repair and something else (the Recovery Console, I think).

I click on install, Windows starts the installation program aand once a first dialog box appears, it displays an error message that basically says (this is a translation of the message from my localized Windows): "a required CD/DVD drive driver is missing. If you use a driver from the floppy disk, CD, DVD, or the flashdisk, insert now. "And I can't get over this error message. The strange thing is, there is no reason for that Windows requires no additional driver, because he can read the installation flashdisk (apparently) and he can see the ultrabook SSD, too (can be verified as well in the recovery console and clicking the browse of this dialog box). So far I have tried:

    (1) four different Windows 7 images (two of them to MSDN AA, two physical, that have been used successfully to install the OS before).

    (2) switch SATA mode to AHCI Compatible.

    (3) two different flashdisks.

    (4) any combination of the boot order.

Nothing has worked. I even tried e-mailing of Toshiba, but all messages to return with 'user unknown' (understandable, I had to guess addresses since Toshiba doesn't seem to provide some official way to communicate with them - or is hiding if well I have found it). Does anyone have an idea what I can try next? I rather like the Z830 and I'd love to use it, but the ability to install my own installation of the operating system is essential for me.

    Thanks, Pepak

    > I tried e-mailing of Toshiba...
Maybe stupid question now, but have you tried to contact Microsoft too? If the BIOS is OK, and if all the USB ports work correctly, I don t think it is Toshiba related issue. Toshiba offers notebook with the original recovery image (WIN7 64-BIT HOME PREMIUM) and ability to create bootable USB stick with the recovery image that can be used when you want.

What you do now is your own installation of the OS. Toshiba has to do is to offer to all the important factors, download tools and utilities on the drivers page.

What else could you try? Try to get external USB ODD and trying to install WIN7 using Microsoft installation disc. I'm sure it will work.

  • Somehow move a win7 license to the license of win10? Or install win7 with USB3

Hey there. I will be brief. I bought a Lenovo T460s without an operating system installed. So I bought a license of windows 7 (my favorite OS) and waiting for it to arrive, installed fedora on the laptop. When the license (and CD), I copied the ISO of the cd on a USB key (because my laptop doesn't have a CD player) and tried to install windows 7. But my laptop has only USB3 ports and windows setup cannot see the stick after the launch. Now I can perform an installation of LAN, who seems too difficult for me, or just install Windows 10 without a license. I ask that you guys, because it seems very little likely to get Win7 installed on this laptop, is it possible to transfer (or improve) the activation key for windows 7 for windows 10 activation key? Or are there other options for installing win7?

  • Cannot install Win7

Hey everyone, I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to such things, but I'm totally stumped here.

I have an Inspiron 15 3537 which comes preinstalled with Win8. I hate it, so I want to install Win7.
My first question was that the laptop wouldn't start my Win7 DVD, but after doing some reading, I read that I had to turn off activate/UEFI Legacy - that worked. However, now that I formatted the laptop HARD drive, I can't choose the partition on which I would like to install Windows. I get an error message that says something like "Cannot install on this partition as the GPT is" or something like that.

I did some reading up on top of that question and it seems that I have UEFI enabled, but if it is enabled, I can't start the DVD.

    Someone pleeeeaaaase help!

    It's ok, I fixed it.
In the configuration screen, I press SHIFT + F10 and then access diskpart to clean the partition. All sorted now.

  • Cannot install Windows with BootCamp

    Hi guys!

I have a Macbook Pro 15ich Early 2011 Intel Core i7 2 GHz 16 GB RAM disk 'Captain' with dual operating system, Samsung SSD 840 EVO drive, and HARD drive that came with the laptop is my auxiliary drive.

    I have two problems.

    (1) when I want to make the Boot Camp partition, I opened the app, and I do Boot Camp with the DVD options, I don ' t have the possibility of USB, I try to edit the info.plist is the administrator and I n ' have permission, I lost the permission when I arrived at the happy record.

    (2) I can't do the Boot Camp with USB I did a DVD with an external DVD drive. I can make the partition, but my problem comes when my Mac reboots to install W7 and W8 and typical black screen of MSDOS with the underscore "_" appears flashes all the time. I waited for minutes, hours, day and the laptop do not respond.

    What can I do?

    Kind regards
    Alex.

During the installation of Windows Setup started and you have the screen which shows your partitions and to choose one, you choose your Bootcamp partition and click on Format of below the list of partitions? You must leave the configuration format the Bootcamp in NTFS partition before installing Windows actually.

  • Cannot install Windows 7 USB

When you try to install Windows 7 USB, I get the following message:

"Setup could not create a new partition or system to locate a system partition. See logs of installation for more information".

I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 on my new laptop that does not have an optical drive, so I have to use a USB key. I read on the forums countless that USB is the problem - Windows 7 will not install with a connected USB drive, because blah blah can't install on a disk that can be removed. Or something. Only I do not want to install on the USB. I'm installing FROM. So I HAVE it up.

    How can I fix it?

    Hi TheOneGuy,

Looks like you did some research, so I apologize if it is redundant.  Did you see the next post?  It is quite similar to your question and has a possible solution:

  • Error 1723 - cannot install anything with a .msi installer

I understand that this kind of question has been asked several times on this here that I searched, however still have not been able to solve the problem :(

Basically, I'm unable to install anything with .msi (windows package install), I get the error messages like:
"There is a problem with this windows package install." A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your provider to support personal or package"
    OR
"Installation directory must be on a local hard drive" (even if this is the case).
It is not with a specific software, I have a problem with. For example I tried to install Acrobat, Quicktime, rhinoceros (3d software) and T-splines (plugin for Rhinoceros)... which was a mistake and had some msi installers, so I think its safe to assume this is not not the software, but a problem with my computer, and I suspect the registry eventually.
Things I've tried so far without success
    • sfc/scannow
    • Microsoft fix it tool
    • Checked the status of windows install services (it was in operation)
The only thing that I came close to using 'run as administrator' with quicktime as it was the only program which enabled this option as an msi file. This actually worked and was able to replace the DLL error somehow and install quicktime.
Any help is really appreciated, I hope that his is not going to use a new installation on win 7 :(

None of the above worked, unfortunately, but don't worry...

    ... I FIXED IT
    Here's how
I resorted to a repair of windows 7 by using the support of instillation DVD/ISO/USB of my version on win 7 (it is actually an upgrade, wait for your upgrade to the exact version even though it should work with your key)
I followed these instructions to the repair facility
Don't worry, you won't lose any files, but I would still recommend making a return to the top.
I use Macrium reflect free http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
OR you can simply backup your stuff important to usb. But like I said, you shouldn't lose anything, and all programs will be installed as well.
If you do not know your key (for when he asks during the upgrade) Windows use magical jelly bean before starting the upgrade and take notehttp://download.cnet.com/Magical-Jelly-Bean-Keyfinder/3000-18487_4-10079600.html keyfinder
NOTE: After you completed the upgrade and to my office, I was greeted with the notification

"Setup has detected that .NET Framework 4 needs to be repaired. Do not restart your computer until the repair is completed. »

It is perhaps was necessary to repair? I don't know, but it took about 10-15 mins to fix it for me.
Anyway, the bottom line is, so far, everything works well again, I can install msi without problem, I will report back if I get more specific questions, but fingers crossed I don't want.
