Cannot install Windows 2000 on my Satellite 1800-514

I am trying to install windows on my Satellite 1800-514. but when Setup tries to copy files to the hard drive I have some errors on some files are not copied correctly (it says it can't find them, I checked well and they are on the cd).

is not always, but often the same files. jump results in an unnecessary installation (cannot start). It is the first time ever I am trying to format and reinstall windows on this laptop. I tried gentoo (linux) for a few days and it seems to work very well (except it's me mistakes sometimes when starting from cd)

so far I have tried:
-Another cd (all seem to give me the same problem, they worked on all the others I've used them on front of the pc...)
-windows XP pro cd, gave me an error of not being able to load a file (looks like the installation of 2000?)
-have you memtest86 to check memory, he finds no errors, also I tried to install with just 1 of my 2-bands memory, that has not helped either. so I don't think that memory is the problem.
-do you have a chkdsk /R from the recovery console to check the hard disk for errors, no have been found...

I'm naïve, what to do/try then?

Hello

Reset you HARD drive after using the Linux operating system? If please do it properly and then try to install Windows using the recovery CD.

If the error again please contact the Service partner. In my opinion there must be a missing file.

  • Cannot install windows XP on the Satellite Pro A200-1N2

    Jin

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 - 1N2 PSAE3E and I don't want Vista on my laptop. I downgraded the bios to V5.30 but still cannot install windows xp and there is still no optin for SATA in the bios.

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Did you install the SATA drivers first?
You need this driver to recognize the HARD drive!

You must download the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. You should find it on the page of the Toshiba driver or the Intel Web site.

You must perform the installation of an external USB FDD drive using the F6 key during the installation of Win XP.

  • Re: IMPORTANT - how to install Windows 2000 on a Satellite L300 - 16 M (PSLB0E)?

    Hello

I am an independent developer and absolutely need to install multiple operating systems on my * Satellite L300 - 16 M (PSLB0E) *: it is very important for me because I need to check the functioning of the software under each environment for real (not not using solutions like VMware, for example).

Well, then, right now, I did a backup Acronis image of original full HDD, and then deleted the original scores of WinRE and data, reduced and moved from disk to the partition of Vista... and installed System Commander 8 to prepare my future multi - initialize. For the moment, everything sounds right: Vista works perfectly!

Also note, I have configured the SATA in the BIOS Setup in "Compatibility" mode just because I don't need AHCI in my type of use!

Second step: now, * I have to install Windows 2000 Pro (SP4) EN *. Of course, I am aware that the sticking point is the SATA/AHCI driver, which is not present in the CD of Win 2 K... So, I just make a new CD integrating these drivers using nLite; now, I tried using the driver Intel site on Intel 82801 HEM / HBM SATA AHCI controller (ICH8M) and page drivers Toshiba XP.

But it does not completely: the Win 2 K install begins... All the drivers are well charged (including the ones AHCI) and just after this stage of loading, I get a black screen with just a blink of an eye cursor at the top left of the screen... indefinitively :-(

I tried also to SATA mode "AHCI" in the BIOS and it's the same thing.

    So, what to do next?

I used the wrong AHCI drivers? Do I need to integrate as many drivers Toshiba (about chipset, display, sound) in the installation of Windows 2000 using nLite CD? I mean the capacity of the CD is not reached.

Is there a way or a tutorial to install Windows 2000 somewhere? For XP, I think it will be easier because SP3 seems to support AHCI, but earlier, my problem is to install Windows 2000: Although Microsoft wants to leave-it, there are many professionals who still use-it... And my work as a developer, is to make my software also works on this OS! * I really need to find a way to install it on this computer! *

Awaiting your response informed and all the tips or idea that could help me to complete the task.
    In a word: HELP! Oops!

    Perhaps.

As far as I know that you need the crib Intel Matrix Storage and in this package, you will find the SATA drivers.
    http://www.Intel.com/support/chipsets/IMSM/index.htm

There you have to choose to get the latest driver - version PV-> Win 2000 8.5-> there you must take the package from point 3

  • Portege 3440 - cannot install Windows 2000

    Hello friends :)

I have a problem with the installation of Windows 2000 on Portege 3440.
I was running Windows 2000 with the FDD USBB (with driver for PCMCIA of CD-ROM) installation and CD-ROM PCMCIA. "Everything was ok at the moment when I came for winnt ' q.

When installing without partition on the HARD drive was appeared on blue background information: "could not find a place for a swap file. With partition (FAT32, 6 GB): "Setup could not install the Windows boot loader. To ensure that your C: drive is formatted and that the drive is not damaged. I tried with three other HDDss.
What should I do to install this system? (Same users do not have these releases)

    Thanks for help
    Adrian

    Hello

1 don't forget to prepare your hard disk with fdisk (a bootable partition) and format it with the Fat32 file system

    2. start by a MSDos saved in your floppy drive-drive with drivers for your PCMCIA CDrom drive (Freecom)

    3. copy the entire i386 to the W2K installation CD directory your HD, be sure to have loaded smartdrive, otherwise it will take ages!

4 start again with the saved, go to the i386 directory and start Windows NT

You can look here for more information about freecom pilots and the bootdisks: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=19232
On your 3440 it should be easier than with the R100 because of normal 2.5 "HD 6 GB, but the problem is basically the same

    Hello everyone,

I know that this subject has been discussed in 2005, but I can't find the thread. So if someone could help me, it was very appreciated.

Thank you very much for taking the time to two read this.

At first, I must say that your laptop is designed for Win7 and maybe you should continue to use Win7. Problem is that laptop with the factory settings is quite slow but it can be changed. What you need is to optimize Win7 preinstalled. Check out this forum and you will find many threads with good description and detailed what we can do about it.

According to specification for laptop, your laptop comes with WIN7 32 BIT PROFESSIONAL & XP DVD.

  • Cannot install Windows XP Home on Satellite Pro A300

    Hey guys,.

I was hoping I could find help on these forums. I hope I posted this in the right place.

There is, Windows Vista is crazy on one of my laptops, and I wanted to install XP. (No, you can't laugh at me). I have XP Pro SP3 disk.
Although even the recovery agent that Toshiba has on all of its portable computers computers could not solve these problems, I had. I put the XP Pro Sp3 disk in the CARPET * A DVD-RAM UJ880AS drive, hoping to use the formatting on it, so he let me install XP as Microsoft/Windows made it impossible to return. In any case, the formatting went all well and then just install came with billions of mistakes.

I currently have a Ubuntu Live CD running on it to make it actually DO something, and its working fine. But I want really bad XP on it.

I think that the issue could be a DEFECTIVE SECTORS on the HARD disk.

    I need help and input.

I buy a new HARD drive and hope that installation work? Buy a new laptop?

Your help is appreciated like you wouldn t believe. This has been driving me crazy for centuries.

    Brock

    Hello.

    (1) check if your CD has no scratches.
    (2) make sure that the DVD player lens is clean (dust). Otherwise, perform a cleaning operation using the stick of hydrophilic cotton and alcohol (make it very accurate and avoid making any what micro scratches).
    (3) back up all data from all partitions. Then start a new installation of Windows XP. In the settings, delete all your existing partitions (make sure, after that you have ONLY space unpartitioned) and then create new partitions to default size. Format these partitions in NTFS (fast) mode. Finally, install the system on the C partition.

    That's all.

Good luck to you and keep posting your progress.

    Kind regards
    Osman.

    Greetings

    Hello

  • Satellite 1800-514: D - link G650 + PCMCIA card - cannot install drivers

I finally decided to add wireless to my old Satellite 1800-514, but when I try to install the card, reports of windows that my drive does not contain the correct driver. I downloaded the latest drivers from the website of Dlink but I get exactly the same error, is this model of incompatible card with the machine?

I was originally under XP Pro SP2, but I went down to XP SP1 incase it was an SP2 issue, but nothing did.

    Hello

I don t think that there is a problem with the device.
I studied a bit on the net and found information about the pilot.
It seems that users have problems with d-link driver that was downloaded from the d-link website. The driver on the CD supplied with the PCMCIA card should work properly.
But if there is no if you need to contact d-link support.

  • How to install Windows 2000 on Equium A200-1VO?

    Hello

    Can someone help me?

I would like to install Windows 2000 on the Toshiba Equium A200-1VO laptop, but I need the drivers to do this.
I have tried the Toshiba web page but cannot find the drivers.

    Can someone please?

    Thank you

You will not be the drivers because this Vista designed for laptop is not supported by this old operating system. Maybe you can find the drivers for Windows XP Home edition, but not for W2000.

All you can do is search for the drivers on the net and hope you have success with it.
I don't know why you would do this, but perhaps you should accept that at some point Toshiba must say stop and don't waste time with the support of the older operating system. I also believe that 0.01% people want to use this old operating system on new generation laptops.

There is no sense to make support for W2000. What do you think about this?

  • Cannot install Windows 7 on Envy 14-1211nr of HP recovery disc sent twice

Cannot install Windows 7 on Envy 14-1211nr of HP recovery disc sent twice

The Recovery Manager starts well. He correctly completed the following steps:
    1 format HDD

    2. copy the files from the CD to the drive. It copies all the 3 CD.

Then he ask the driver (the 4th CD) CD. Once I have this CD, then after awhile I get messge below:

    Contact HP support

In most cases, recover the hard disk will solve your problems.

If your problem persists, you may have to contact HP support. Find details of support HO in the documentation of your PC.

After that I see above meaage the only button I can click is "Finish". Once I click on finish, then in a minute, I get a message that "recovery completed successfully.

The laptop restarts and displays the message on the screen "Bootmger" not found

I called HP support and asked to run the hard drive and memory test and he succeeded.

I can install windows on another CD I have with.

But I can't install WIndows using the recovery CD, I received from HP. It's the 2nd CD series that I received these don't work or the other.

I have two identical laptops. Tried installing on both and having the same problem on both.

Can you please help with this.
    HP sends fake CDs?

    Hello

Here is another solution, you can try to see if you can get Windows 7 to install correctly.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the version exact same origin supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

All pilots additional and the software, you may need can be found here.

    Kind regards

Performed troubleshooting: because the error # 80071 A 90 type indicated by the system, I followed the instructions of Windows Help and Support, for example to run Microsoft Fix it which did not work; a more advanced method has also been used, who recommended to start Windows Update in Mode safe, then open Windows Update and install the updates and then restart normally. At this point, the problem was that any stage of Windows Update was available.
