Original title: Install windows 7 on GTP style partition
Nice day
I try to install windows 7 on my laptop but there is a massegeSay cannot install windows on the selected drive cos it's GTPPartion of style, I was using before windows 8 but then formatMy hard drive please guide me on how to archive this because only throughI'm really frastratedHi Nnrmalata,
1. you are trying to install 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7?
2. What is the brand and model of your computer?
Boot from GPT is only supported for 64-bit of Windows 7 on UEFI-based systems.
For more details, refer to this link:
http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/hardware/gg463525.aspx
If your computer does not support UEFI, back up your important data to an external drive and delete all partitions on hard drives and create a new partition.
(a) start from the Windows 7 DVD
(b) click on install now
(c) in the configuration screen, click Custom (Advanced)
(d) click on drive Options
(e) select the partitions to format
(f) click on Format - this will erase EVERYTHING on this partition
(g) create a new partition, and then select a partition to install Windows on.
(h) follow the on-screen instructions and install Windows.
Note: Converting a hard disk partition or volume from NTFS to FAT32 requires that you reformat the partition, which deletes all the data on this subject. Be sure to back up data that you want to keep before you begin.
You can check the link for reference:
http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd799232 (WS.10) .aspx
Note: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
If above did not help, please refer to the steps in this link.

I ran a recovery of the system disks on my infected virus Vista computer and now impossible to get Windows Update to work. I have it configured to run automatically, but when I ask him to check the updates it tells me that it is not executed. Actually, now when I try to open the Windows Update folder it freezes and I have to use the Task Manager to close it. Manually, I downloaded and installed SP 1 and SP 2. Cannot install windows 7-error: dvd/cd driver missing
Try to install Windows 7 on a different SSD, but get an error indicating that the missing required cd/dvd driver. How Windows load into memory from a cd/dvd that windows 7 says there is no driver missing? This is the same installation disc that I used on a previous SSD without problem. I have 2 other unused installation floppies, and each returns the error message. This problem arose when an attempt to use System Restore Image I had done just on an external SSD and a drive hard usb. The error I had to try to use one of them was that the Image was made in EFI and the computer seeks to restore in BIOS. It's the same machine. Yes, disk management displays the UEFI 100 MB system partition. The motherboard is an Asus F2A85 - V Pro. List Disk running installation diisk sees only the cd/dvd and the drive hard usb but not the SATA drives. When you normally use that List Disk sees everything. The UEFI bios sees all readers, when you use the system installation disk. I used a system repair disc made from the same computer at the same time as the picture of the system and used to start and got a system repair options is not compatible with this version of windows. The windows version is 6.1.7601 sp 1 build 7601. Any ideas?
Hello
Thank you for your response.
There are two modes of starting particularly machine-> BIOS & EFI. BIOS is the general start mechanism found in most machines. Some of the machines also support EFI boot mechanism with BIOS
Either the BIOS or EFI is set as the default in your machine - Please check start the installation system which
one is active by default.
If the EFI operating system is installed, it will create an EFI system partition in your machine. Installation of BIOS has no EFI partition.
Warning in the BIOS: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to post in the case where you are facing other problems with Windows, we will be happy to help you.

Updates will not install, Apps will not install Windows 8 error Code: 0x8020002e
We have 3 Machines, we're the United States (S7 computer laptop from Acer) and 2 other desktop
None of them are able to install windows updates, or install apps on the Store.I did a clean install.Created only a user MS (Hotmail) accountStop the Windows update service, deleted the files from windows update, reactivated the service and tried again. (still no 0x8020002e)Disabled the WSUS service on the server. And I tried to install each update manually.Changed in the locale and updating the time.Uninstalled all anti-virus and activated the default firewall.Ran sfc/scannow (even after complete reinstallation of Windows 8)Everything ran as administrator, but the updates and app downloads all fail. Also, met with MS support guys that they connected remotely with Support.me, and haven't found anything. This is not a solution for everyone in general - but we found that the problem was related to the Cyberoam firewall unit was actually blocking traffic to the store - once he was removed from the internet packets audit exceeded the updates.

This means that this error is for windows 8 64 bit or 32 bit?
first I tried to install windows 8 in VMware workstationmy system is 32 bit -
I am running Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2, 32-bit. For example, I have the 8.0.6001.18828 version. I use AVAST AV and Comodo Firewall. I've never had McAfee.
I have 18 'Important' Windows Vista updates will not be installed: several updates, several windows Vista updates, etc. Back to 08/12/09 and 27/04/10 the most recent. They start to add up. Here is a screenshot of them:
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/5003/updatesl.PNG
For about 11 of them, let's say in the meantime (until restarted), but then after the resumption, that they do not have to install but have no error code. The event viewer indicates that they are 'not applicable for this system' (then why they have been downloaded?). Who does not apply are: KB905866 KB971468, KB972270 KB979683 KB978601, KB977816, KB978338, KB979099, KB974318, KB980248, KB980232.
The rest of them, as (for example, KB980182) will fail because of an error of 8007371 C. In Event Viewer, they all have a sequence of error similar to this one (it's for KB980182):

...
11:11 - Installation failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007371c: Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista (KB980182).###
Things I've tried:
1. installation after a clean boot - at first, seems to be successful that I can get the list to the left of 1 or 2, but at some point given shortly after they all reappear.
2A ran the System File Checker that comes up: "Windows Resource Protection has not found any breach of integrity."
3 reset Windows Update components (manually or with the "FixIt" solution to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/971058?p=1)
4. stop of services related to Windows Update, rename system folders, saving and then associated DLL files by restarting services (as described here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vistainstall/thread/ed275467-5580-41dc-9ccc-3c1e22c6fd28)-same result
5 install in safe mode - gives me "Setup has encountered an error: 0x8007043c.» This service cannot be started in safe mode. »)
6. scan the hard disk for errors (e.g., check disc) - Nothing found
7. search for viruses, Trojans and malware - do not have
8. install with UAC, anti-virus and firewall off the coast - same result
9 install the upgrade preparation tool system for Windows Vista (KB947821) [January 2010] (with UAC, AV, etc off), but the installation 'failed' (no error code). Installation in safe mode it gives me the «...» "0x8007043c. this service cannot be started in safe mode."
10. manually install them - same result
A short circuit contact MS have exhausted the options?
Thank you. This is not a beta or Release Candidate build both fuhgeddaboutit and open a free support incident.
PS: I think you will find that the updates are not installed due to infection hijackware, Kurt.
