Cannot install windows 7 update error 8007064A code kb2289158!

have tried to install this update for Age, still get the same error, tried to manually download downloads of MS, but get msg "detection failed, this may be due to a corrupted installation database", what is average, ideas, little user profane.  When there is a lot of updates installed on 'closed', 'start-up' sometimes I get a blue screen and sometimes have to restore, again the new.  my laptop is a sony vaio and they asked me to make a full recovery. what I think is a little extreme! all conventional wisdom greatly.

    (My Automatic Updates usually work, but this time not to go.) Updates are obtained through IE8 browser, but I prefer FireFox for daily use.)

    Thank you! Success!

    I used method 2, because I had already tried method 1 earlier, but the "fix it" went wrong. After reading the information from method 2, I opted to use my FireFox instead of IE8 browser, because I suspected that the process Internet Explorer that are included with the update was a large part of the cause of my problem. Among the options, I used Microsoft Download center to locate the update I needed and then through its validation and finally made the download and reboot. Voila!

    Can you please explain why the process more automated via IE did not work for me? Why I resorted to the labour process more that I used? Can I expect this of all the other "critical" updates that I get on my machine Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005? Maybe your answers would also be interesting to others.

  • Cannot install Windows PLUS updates. -Modules Windows Installer has stopped working...

    original title: cannot install MORE Windows updates.

    Greetings, people. My computer will download, but not install many of the windows updated.

    I think it's because of 'message "Windows Modules Installer has stopped working and was closed". Is this correct?

    Can I fix it myself? Thank you, Bob

  • Cannot install Windows Vista updated system preparation tool

    I downloaded the update for Vista 32 bit system preparation tool, but when the program tries to install after initialization, the installation progress bar never appears, the installation seems to just "hang" and do nothing.  I tried to cancel the installation, but the program seems stuck, I use the Task Manager to cancel the installation.  I wonder why the tool cannot install on my PC after downloading.

    Hi mlzla,

    I hope you do well.

    No, if you do an upgrade on the spot, you will lose any program. The on-site upgrade process will take around an hour or two. It is very useful.

    I hope this information is useful.

  • Cannot install windows sp 2 (error 0xc000009c) update

    original title: can't find update windows sp 2

    had to wipe the laptop and ive sp 1 is obtained in cannot find an update for sp 2 when I click on update on all programs it come to update u cannot be updated

    Yes, the log file shows what I suspected. This may very well be the problem with the installation of sp3.

    Yet once, make sure you that you have backed up your personal data.

    1. Insert the Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer. If you are prompted to press any key to boot from a cd do;

    2. when the "Welcome" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console;

    3. If you have a dual-boot or multiboot, select the installation that you must Access from the Recovery Console.

    4. When you are prompted, type the administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER;

    5. at the command prompt, type chkdsk/r > press ENTER. (Note: there is a space between the slash and the letter k). Let the scan until the end. It may take some time to complete.

    Post back after you complete these steps.

    Hi Jmatwyko,

    The only way you can do it manually is a 'upgrade on the spot' which removes all updates and "resets" default Windows.

    The damaged manifest may be able to be repaired by observing the steps here. (although that gets a little more advanced.

  • Cannot install Windows Live Essentials Error: 0 x 80190194: WaitForCatalog

    Hey all, I have just installed a fresh Windows 7 on my PC, everytime I try to access windows live essentials (only for the mail app), I get an error

    Could not install programs

    An unknown error has occurred.

    Error: 0 x 80190194

    I had the same system running windows 7 with windows live essentials befor without problem. and now I can't seem to solve this problem at all, any help would be greatly appreciated :)

    I have had the same problems, many people ready & forums where this problem is reported all trying to find a solution for me.  After trying all suggestions on all the forums that I could not even install and subsequently Live.

    I found a simple solution that can work for others too.  I ran an installation of older LiveMessenger (v8.1), which has held own.  Launch LiveMessenger and it forces an update update to a later version, which gives options to install the other components of Live Essential Suite too.

    I even was invited to patch for the 2011 version but I don't know it is only a matter of time and especially I have Messenger back!
