I installed Windows Home Server on VMWare server 2.0.1 and the card in Device Manager Ethernet OS says "this device cannot start (code 10)". Device Manager shows AMD PCNET Family PCI Ethernet Adapter and the current drivers are also installed. I installed the Home Server by selecting other 32 bit OS in the virtual machine. Also, I removed the network card and reinstalled the adapter in the control panel of VMWare. It shows connected and I fixed it to connect at power on, it is also a bridge connection. I don't know what to do or check. I thought to reinstall the operating system by choosing server 2003 32-bit for Windows Home server is based on this. It's probably something simple. Anyone have any ideas?
Close the comments. Edit the vmx by hand file and change the line ethernet0.virtualDev = "vlance" to "e1000" (add the line if it does not exist). Back-light the prompt and install the driver for Intel E1000 network map.
I just installed Windows Home Server 2011 and only can I not activate or update. I tried to install another browser, lowering the browser settings and disabling firewall. Anyone else have any suggestions?
I suggest you to ask your question on the forum mentioned below.
Installed Windows Home Server 2011 on my files allocatted to share on my wireless network, including a hard drive 2 TB external. Worked well able to watch movies, listen to music etc... As several files have been saved on the external hard drive (800G now) he would not recognize the new content (files or movies) previous content is ok, but nothing new would not reconise. Unplug the hard drive from the PC, pluged into the TV via USB and all the files are there, old and new. My PC is 3.2 GHz 1 G RAM and running Windows XP I was wondering if anyone know what would cause this? It would not be because I only have 1 g of ram?original title: unable to recognize new files

I'll use my old office of 3 years of Dell (Inspiron 531) as a server. I will be installing WINDOWS HOME SERVER software on this subject. The vehicle currently has Vista Home Premium on it. Someone I know said I could have driver problems. Is this true? If it is that drivers enough to be responsible and how to see their loading? Chris Mah

With Windows-Home-serer-2003, whenever I try to install Power Pack 3, I have the following message:
The following upates wer not installed: Windows Server of the MCH PowerPack 3 (KB968349).
Thank you or your help.
I want to tell you here.
To apply this update, you must have Windows Home Server Power Pack 2 installed. If you have a beta version or a release candidate of Windows Home Server Power Pack 3 is installed, you must uninstall these preliminary versions before you install this release of Windows Home Server Power Pack 3.

You can post in the forums of Windows Home Server for better support. http://social.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/category/WindowsHomeServer/

I had a hard drive failure partial who gave no symptoms or errors except a VERY slow start-up and operation. I tried to do a restore of the entire system of my Home Server 2011 backups to see if, perhaps, just the image was corrupt. USB was created and all drivers copied from pilots for the full system restore folder. Has started the full restoration of the system and loaded the missing NETWORK adapter driver by using the scanner for drivers. Driver support was successful but no lights NIC and the message "cannot find server". NETWORK card was working fine before, even with the bad hard drive and also after the abandonment of the restoration. Installed the new drive hard C:-System and that was the main problem, BUT..., the later to restore attempt was always the NIC starts not problem. Tried the driver directly at Gigabyte support and drivers drivers for the full restoration of the system of records from several different backups. No love. Just NIC does not start after the specified load successful pilot.
All good advice? This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)

We are currently the main C drive partitioned 20 GB and we cannot repartition try with several different partition tools. The error via a tool, it's "the volume you have selected cannot be extended. Other tools to give similar messages. The hard drive is 250 GB RAID 1 mirror.
What we tried:
A suggestion according to the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/841650 does not include the home server edition so can't take the risk that she clearly serve States own risk. We tried Acronis partition software, G-Parted, diskpart.exe command BACK and Macrorit http://macrorit.com/partition-magic-manager/server-diskpart-fails-to-extend-system-partition.html
Other suspicious Info:
1. System Properties window says that the operating system is 'Windows Home Server'.
2 window Information System indicates that the operating system is 'Windows 2003 Small Business Server. "
The person who owns that server call purchase Home Server edition. Not sure if this is related or not, but it's conflicting information to find a solution.
Bottom line, even if that server is outdated and not fully supported any longer, we hope to keep alive a little more long if possible if we simply repartition C drive and increase the free space. Other than replacing the server suggestions are appreciated because they are not willing to spend the money to replace the entire server.

Tried to install OEM Windows Home Server 2011 integrated custom server with ASUS M489GTD Pro Mobo and AMD Phenom IIx6 1055 t processor. Installation (3 attempts) would not end when network devices do not have to be found. Having read a number of user group locations and found amount of siginficant discussion on similar type problems. Searched and copied device USB and NIC brand drivers but the installation of WHS 2011 has been unsuccessful. Have since with success installed Windows 8 Preview of consumer on the server by using 'Device Manager' to find installed drivers located in appropriate files and C: / drive. Question: a plan 'best case' would try to do a new installation install WHS 2011 on my server or to an 'upgrade' type which may keep the driver folders/files? Thank you
Your question of Windows is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro on Windows Home Server public. Please post your question in the Windows Home Server appropriate Forum. You can follow the link to your question:
I just installed a Windows Servr Home 2011. I can not all my clients to connect to the server. All my customers use Win 7 Home Premium. I can see the server in the Windows Explorer to the customer (my desktop PC). If I click on the icon of the server, I can browse shared files. The directions tell to connect you, enter http://
/ log in as a URL to the browser. When I do that, I get a 'not found' by DNS. I tried to enter http:// / connect as URL and he did enter the web page to download the SW to administer the server. However, the name of the executable if the server name is used must be ComputerConnector ( .exe.) If I downloaded it using the IP address, I get the file ComputerConnector ( .exe.) When I try to run it, I get an error message that says that this name has nonstandard characters. I renamed the file to use the name of the server and got the same error. I assume that the name of the original file is in the header.I also went to (network > servername) in other devices in Windows Explorer and end up downloading a file named ComputerConnector (fe80__b487_7b89_297_e93c) .exe. I get the same error as before.I have the dashboard 2011 WHS connector installed on my laptop and it works OK. Given that the office has not connected, I can't configure the server to backup my office. It is also true for my HTPC and another laptop. All the computers are in the same homegroup. I ping the server with the IP address and the name of the server.
I'm posting this on the MSFT Windows Home Server 2011 help forum...
Hi, I was hoping that someone could erase something for me.
I have an OEM of Windows Home Server 2011 version that I bought in England, when he arrived in the post that I realized that it is a German copy, probably why it was so cheap.
I'm not really bothered about it, if I can just change the language during or even after the installation. My question is this a problem or problem further down the line or the whole operating system will be identical to a UK copy if I change the language and regional settings?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'd rather not go back if I can't.
