No, it is not automatic and it is possible that the
video is not compatible with Movie Maker.

What is the video format (extension)?

  • Video cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker

I downloaded a video on Youtube (I think .flv format?), but when I tried to import into WMM, it says that I didn't have the right codecs installed.  I then downloaded the K-Lite package (Basic), and when I tried again the new error message that displayed then try to import the video was "C:/___.mp4 could not be imported."  Simple as that, no explanation nor the details of error either.  I used the troubleshooter of codec through difficulty It Center of Microsoft and turned off three different codecs.  The error message remains the same.  No help at all for me?  I just need to install codecs more, or restart my computer?  I hope it's as simple as that...

  • Cannot add music to a video in Windows Movie Maker

I used Windows Movie Maker to create movies and I tried to add a MP3 to a photo slideshow, and he suddenly decided to not work when adding music to a Slideshow photo had worked the last time, I tried. I have since then restarted my computer several times, and each time it doesn't always work as it had before. When I slide the .mp3 to the slide show and try to play, it has no sound at all. My speakers are on, I have troubleshooted for this. The works of .mp3 when played in a music player (iTunes), it just plays then in Windows Movie Maker. Before the audio tracks, a way of seeing sound waves - where the sound was loud and soft, but recently those too are gone, and that's what I think the problem is. It would be nice if it was a track that wouldn't play, but I tried it again with the track that worked previously, and is no longer work or the other and all other .mp3 files I put in there do not work either. What can I do to make this work?

    Hello, guenoun.

I seem to have the same problem as tantoe but when I clicked on the link in your message, it took me to the page, but the person's recommendation was not good; It (don't remember the name) had two links to click & when I clicked on the two I was redirected to a page that says that the page could not be found.

The song with that I have a problem is "I'm in love (with a killer)" by Jeffree Star &, as with all my other audio files that I did NOT have this problem with, is mp3 format. I have a video in mind with this song & pictures I saved star but Windows Movie Maker cannot import it.

If there is anything you could do, advice you could give, I would really appreciate it. This is my favorite song by Jeffree Star & it drives me crazy not being able to import it into Movie Maker. :-/
