  If you want to (understandibly) get a new computer, it might make sense to use Lightroom to do your RAW editing and then open them in Photoshop, so yes, you need.

  Images II 7 d would be directly supported in Photoshop CS5 as requiring a new camera raw.

  So, you must download the free DNG Converter to convert these images to DNG and then open the DNG converted in Photoshop.

  Photoshop CS5 is only compatible with Camera Raw to version 6.7. Photoshop CS5 is is no longer updated by Adobe. The best way to have the latest version of Photoshop is to his scribe for the package of creative photography of cloud. This would have the latest version of Photoshop and Lightroom. You will receive updates of these two programs through the creative cloud.

  If you don't want to upgrade your Photoshop you can download and use the DNG Converter last to create digital copies of (DNG) negatives of your raw images. You would be able to use these files with the software you already have. But you won't receive updates for the software you are currently using. Your new device photo, the 70 d, requires camera Raw 8.2 which is only compatible with Photoshop CS6. Camera Raw 9.2 is only compatible with Photoshop CC 2015, which is only available through the creative cloud. You might want to consider the purchase of 14 Photoshop elements as a complementary program to what you use.

  Not only PSE13 an update can use the ACR 8.7 necessary plugin. (Version 8.7.1 is expected soon, but not necessary).

  Seems was with download Nikon ViewNX2 program and by removing the old version, loading the new version, deleting the photos previously uploaded from the D810 (I still use camera raw on my D7000 photos) and restart the pc, then I could successfully download and open the photos of 810 s

  You have the choice to move to Lightroom 5.6 or to use the DNG Converter to convert the CR2 files to DNG and import.

  Your version of Photoshop does not open Canon Digital Rebel SL1 images directly. Support was not added until Photoshop CS6 in Camera Raw 7.4.

  Adobe stopped upgrading older versions of Camera Raw to be able to read the raw files of the newer cameras every time they released a new major release of Photoshop.  Thus, the version that you receive more updates and can never directly open your CR2 files.

  Niels, this is actually a good thing that Adobe provides updates after the liberation, or you would never have had support D90 with Photoshop CS3.  But you are right, if automatic software functions do not work well, you have to work through manual installations and then things can get a little geek.  But you're a PC/Windows user - you have to be hard!

  To use the help - about plug-ins feature, in Photoshop click on the help menu, then the any plug-in entry, then hover over and click on Camera Raw...

  This is a misleading answer, Gerard - the question is not on the gross support se. LR 5 supports the D7100, so there is no problem convert the files and therefore not necessary to recommend the DNG Converter. The Photoshop files will for the edition will be in tiff, anyway.

  Andrew, you you must update Photosho to get the native support "in Edit"... ». Gautam is just do to point out that you need ACR 7.4, and is not compatible with the 5 PS: but that's all you need to do - references to convert files to DNG are not relevant here.
