Cannot open lightroom 6 on PC and laptop since last night. I have a stand-alone perpetual license.

I've been using Lightroom for several years and finally I bought a perpetual license of standalone lightroom 5 with update free for LR6 on PC and mobile.

Last night I was working in lightroom on PC when I realized that I had imported my new photos to the catalog 2015 instead of a new catalog of 2016 which I had used for a week. I chose open another catalogue (2016) in order to import new pictures in the catalog, bypassed the message about stopping the catalog I was using and the message back up before you finish then anything, lightroom does not open.

I performed tests on the PC, but nothing wrong was found. This morning when I turned on by clicking on the lightroom ICON was just a spinning wheel (busy) for about 5 seconds, then nothing. He has refused to open.

I tried to connect to my Adobe account, it was very slow but I got end.

Earlier I decided to use the laptop, which is independent of the PC, I do not use cloud services. I have exactly the same problem, a wheel that runs for about 5 seconds, then nothing. It's like I've been locked out.

Problem has been resolved. Disc scan in SafeMode the updated an irreparable damaged windows file. Restored (reset) initial backup of disks PC and restore all data backup hard drive. Fingers crossed, everything will be fine now.

    Microsoft Works is an Office suite obsolete and abandoned. However, Microsoft Works version 8.0 is compatible with Windows 7, it may not work on Windows 8, arise random errors. You can try to install this version in compatibility mode for Windows XP and then check if it works properly.

    • Right click on the Installer (.exe file) for Microsoft works file, and then click Properties.
    • Go to the compatibility tab.
    • Check the box for run this program in compatibility mode for:
    • In the list of operating systems, select Windows XP (or any other compatible OS) .
    • Click OK.
    • Double-click the executable file to install the program and follow the instructions on the screen.
    • Restart your computer.

    This is probably a "lock" file It is created if Lightroom is not closed correctly.

    I've owned Lightroom since it was released when I paid $316,94 for her.  I bought the 2.0 for $103.95 update, then update 3.0 for $69.30 (on another account accidentally) and then joined the CC full suite.  Our Canadian dollar began to decline in value and I didn't feel that the subscription has been good value more, especially since I'm more a clean user of Photoshop and CS5.  I found that Lightroom is useful once again and so I bought last year updated for $88,48 USD and the product has glitches but I used it.

    Recently, I had to install on my Samsung laptop and found, I had to deactivate the license on my desk to use, and I find this pain connection and disconnection, since I do not have the foresight to know when to sign physically out of my office before I use my laptop.  Going to the Adobe store earlier, it does not allow me to buy another license upgrade for my second computer while the 'old' version of Lightroom was fine with me on my laptop and desktop.  I do not have a heavy user for a few years, but I start to have some interest in my work and need the laptop and the computer.  Adobe authorized a second upgrade license, am I expected to buy a full version new or I just go to Corel whose entire suite is less than the Lightroom upgrade?

    Again, I am mostly a Photoshop user and really need Lightroom to catalogue and cropping for final prints only selections, and it seems a little extreme that I cannot use my license on one computer at any time, why not the second?  I think Adobe is assuming we all have easy access to the internet and a wi - fi connection, and that Canadians want to pay twice as much for Adobe products as everyone else.  I installed two trials of Corel since they're cheaper reunited to form a new owner even a Lightroom update still less a total of the purchase, and so far they have integration with Photoshop and the feature settings of catalog, just I don't like not having to learn how to use when I already own another product.

    Pure speculation, but maybe the program Identity Finder is delete your browsing history which is the way Firefox restores the tabs, windows, and the previous session. Check with the technical support for this program or look at the manual.

    In the folder where the catalogue is there is probably a .lock file. Delete this file only , and then try again.

    It is created to prevent Lightroom used simultaneously by more than 1 user, and if Lightroom is not shutdown properly for some reason some may remain in the folder.

    had a virus earlier today, I think it was the security of windows one... anyway I got rid of it with malwarebytes and restarted my computer. now, for some reason, I can't run programs without going through a right-click and run as an administrator.
