Cannot open Microsoft Management Console mode author because of current computer policies
Hello, I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
When I type "mmc", I get the following error. I am logged in as administrator.
---------------------------
Microsoft Management Console
---------------------------
You cannot open Microsoft Management Console mode author because of current computer policies.
---------------------------
Ok
---------------------------
Is this a normal behavior of the default Windows 7? If so, how to launch mmc or not if yes, how can I find the setting that causes this message?
I found the parameter restrict access, which has been the Local computer policy > User Configuration > administrative templates > Windows components > Microsoft Management Console > prevent the user from author, Enabled.
When I turned this option off, I could run mmc.

I want to access Device Manager on a Windows 7 Ultimate remote computer from a computer running Windows XP Professional. Whenever I have use (compmgmt.msc) computer management and access the remote computer, I connect successfully to it. But when I select the Device Manager it says: 'access denied '. I checked the security policy (secpol.msc) and I chose the deny access to this computer from the network and there no users and groups listed but it says that its default value is invited. Can you tell me the step by step procedure?
Thank you.
In addition to changes to the GP, you must also do the following.
Open services.msc, locate the "Remote registry" service, start the service and set to start automatically.

Original title: Microsoft Management Console this feature only is not supported on this system
I am running Vista 32 bit Business since an administrator account.
Recently, I noticed that the automatic updates did not install it and returned error 80070005. After investigation, I found that I could not open mmc at all and always get the message "this function no is not supported on this system. Can anyone help?JeffHello Helpmehelpme,
First, I would check since it is professional Vista was that computer on a field of work or it was already on an area of work? There may be group policies that are in place that prevent to run MMC.
When did start to happening? Is there anything new on the system which has been introduced into the environment (software, hardware)?

Laptop HP 15-R204NE: cannot open Device Manager?
Hello
I'm having the following problem when I try to open the Device Manager:
He asked the permission of the Microsoft Management Console before giving me this message.
This started happening after I installed and uninstalled multiple copies of Visual Studio and MS Office, because I had problems. My laptop is passed to control drive C before starting to check for errors and repair them.
Can someone provide a fix for the problem please?
I highly appreciate the help.
Kind regards.
The extent of the corruption of files on your system may be beyond any simple diagnosis and repair.
I think your only option now is the restoration of the system, a repair or re - install. Restoration of the system from an earlier date is easier, even if you indicated that you do not want to. If you do not have the support of HP Recovery then your Windows recovery options are explained here:

Original title: use MMC
Can someone enlighten me on component services, found in the administrative tools, including the management console folder. Is their anything that can be done by someone who has no knowledge on this subject, extensive Windows, I use XP (SP3) thank you.
Hi ratchet.
Microsoft Management Console (MMC) lets system administrators create much more flexible user interfaces and customize administration tools.
See this link for the tasks that we can perform using Component Services in the Microsoft Management console.
With Component Services, administrators can deploy and administer service applications of components through a graphical user interface or automate administrative tasks using a programming or scripting language. Software developers can use Component Services to visually configure routine component and behavior of the application, such as security and participation in transactions, and to integrate components into Component Services applications.

I use Windows XP SP3 and cannot open My Documents, my pictures, my music and my computer
Original title: can not open files
I use Windows XP SP3 and cannot open My Documents, my pictures, my music and my computer. I get no errors, but nothing happens when I click on one of them.
Hello
Thanks for the reply. I managed to solve the problem before you receive your advice to defragment my hard drive. I had the problem on / off power for about six months and defragmentation has not always been successful success so when it happens then I will go through the procedures that you have listed. I have installed and uninstalled various applications in the last six months and suspect that the register is not in optimum condition... I have a problem during a shutdown or reboot stop where I get an error of tfswctrl.exe I close and the system then hangs and requires a medical examination. Is there, by chance, a Microsoft utility that cleans up the registry for applications that have been uninstalled, but be persistent pieces that shouldn't be there?
Thanks again for your advice.
