Cannot open Outlook Express dbx files saved

Original title: files__ dbx

I backed up all of my Outlook Express folders and now I can not open them. They have all of the .dbx endings. How can I restore them?

If you have saved all of the directory, copy it to the desktop computer and right-click on the file and check properties to ensure that they are not read-only.  Then go to file | Import | Messages in OE and choose to import from a directory, and point to this directory.  To import a single dbx file, see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#imp1

My only working computer running XP. It has Outlook Express is installed on it and was once used for e-mail, but not more and not implemented with my ISP to send or receive if it matters at all. I advise you to immediately copies of your DBX files restored. Save the duplicates in a place safe, and don't mess with them.
Then try using one of the various tutorials that you have found on the Internet by using a copy of your DBX files restored.

    Hi Rhonda,

This behavior can occur if the attributes of a part or all the messages Outlook Express *.dbx files are read-only.

Method 1: Rename the Folders.dbx file.

    a. click Start, point to findand then click files or folders.

    b. in the named box, type folders.dbx.

    (c) in the area look in , click on your main hard drive (usually drive C), and then click find now.

    d. right-click on the Folders.dbx file and then click Rename.

    e. type folders.old, and then click OK.

  • Cannot open Outlook Express

I'm unable to load Outlook Express.  When I try, I get the first blue box but nothing beyond that.  Finally, I got the error msg, "Outlook Express could not be started because another instance of it is still running on your computer."  The cure of suggsted is to disconnect or to stop and restart the computer.  This has no effect.

Also, I tried to 'fix' OE as indicate support of Microsoft Outlook Express.  It lists the 4 files which should registered bere.  No problem with the 3.  The 4th, regsvr32 mshtml.dll, makes me a message error "DllRegisterServer entry point not found...". "Any suggestions on what I need to do to fix this?

Before you try to open OE, right-click on the taskbar and see if she, or msimn.exe is running. If this isn't the case, it is probably corrupted Folders.dbx.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

The path to the message will be very similar to this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express
With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited.

Before attempting to open OE, right-click on the taskbar and open the Task Manager and check that there is no mention of OE or MSOE in the running processes. If it's OK, try a new Folders.dbx file.

MSIMN. EXE is the real process of OE

  • Cannot open outlook express. computer then hangs and I have to take the battery o get it going again.

I have avast and not bad after a scan.

    Do you have this part?

If OE can not import e-mail files, that means the file Folders.dbx is probably damaged. In this case, close OE and bring back all other *.dbx files in the storage folder. When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. Please understand that you will lose the mail directory structure, all the discussion lists and all synchronization options and message rules will probably have to be edited.

  • Outlook Express .dbx files:

When you delete a message, it is actually only marked for deletion. It's not really gone and will not reduce in size dbx files until you compact your folders.

If you can, open OE and click file | Identities and establish a new identity.  Then see if it works.  If you can not open OE to do this, then move all the dbx files to another directory of their current location.  To reset the message store, which you should be able to open OE then.

  • Cannot access Outlook Express email on computer so open on iPhone

original title: Outlook Express email on iPhone

I can't access Outlook Express on my computer recently, I opened my email on my iPhone.  A way to solve this very annoying problem?

You cannot access Outlook Express, or you cannot access mail on Outlook Express?

If mail: OE has this option: tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: leave a copy of messages on the server. You also need to find the equivalent of this on your iPhone and check there as well.

On a single computer only, check to delete messages after X days to satisfy your allocated space you get from your server, but you give the possibility to download at once.

  • I get an error (0x800C0133) message when opening outlook express and can not receive emails

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'mail.homeloansokc.com', server: 'mail.homeloansokc.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, error number: 0x800C0133 the previous message is the complete error message I get when trying to open Outlook Express.  I can send but cannot receive mail.  The box pop up you will receiver 1 of 68 messages but stops before it downloads all messages and displays the error message.

    Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.

Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create. Then, remove the problem of Inbox as follows.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and delete it. Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

If this does not help, then you will probably need my program DBXpress (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/), which will extract the messages from individual dbx files, and if messages are no longer in the files, it can extract from the disc itself.

If this is not the case, look for your message store folder. While following the path, when you get to the identities, see if there is a second appearing, and if this identity has for folders dbx files you are missing.
