Cannot perform a hard reset

Experts in the community

I'm the one who help friends and family on this from the unit for the first time that I came across a compact Z5 which has an error which may or may not associate with defective finger print registry.

I was unable to perform a hard reset on it. Since I'm stuck on the screen of a PIN and the PIN on the memory did not work

I tried several methods, including the * #* #7378423 #* #* method, which worked well with the other familys M5 model very well

by pressing power and + /-will lead me nowhere, but the device has not been defined in dev or debug mode in the first placeWhen I try to connect to the pc, it force me to enter the pin, which I can't until I can put in place the factory reset, I failed again to the Google method window after.

I would like comments on the methods of level higher than those located on love so ifixit.

Thank you very much

JO

Hi @OJ2016,

If I understand you correctly, you are unable to perform a reset of the phone factory because you can't after locking the screen, is that correct?

You should try to perform a repair of software using PC Companion (for a guide step by step, click on the blue text), cela re - install the software of the phone and will remove all data. It is important that the phone is off and you don't connect it to your PC until later in the the repair guide when you are prompted to do so.

Troubleshooting hardware and software with a Hard Reset

Recently, I have been see a large number of issues that can be resolved, or at least try to be solved with a hard reset. A hard reset is one of the major steps in troubleshooting for a wide variety of issues. Issues such as a none responsive, computer keyboard do not start properly, software frozen, etc.

    Why a hard reset works:

By performing a hard reset, you must remove all power from the computer. This will not occur when you restart or shut down the computer. Even by removing the battery briefly, there may be still some electricity stored in capacitors. When you do the hard reset it deletes the last drop of power from the computer. This clears all the RAM and basically force the computer to re-establish a connection between the BIOs and hardware. It will solve some problems wobbly a majority of the time, and therefore, why it is a great troubleshooting step base.

If this does not resolve the problem, you are seen be sure to create a new thread and lists all the troubleshooting steps you have tried and also to give a detailed explanation on the issue that you are experiencing.

  • Perform a hard reset when you are connected to the computer?

    Hello

my iPod Touch G 6 seems to have momentarily buggy so I connected it to the computer, after he had died and needed a charge. He didn't start the loading of the iPod screen, so I did a hard reset while it was still connected to the computer. When he turned his back, I had to enter the password on the iPod to unlock the screen before you start synchronizing with the computer.

Desire to do harm to the iPod? I accidentally unplugged before ejecting several times, so I'm just scared.

    Thank you

    Jesse

You have no damage to the iPod. If you disconnect the iPod is communicating with the computer, then you can alter the iPod and a restoration will probably be necessary,

  • How to perform a hard reset.

Although he can't be guaranteed to solve printing problems, a Hard Reset can solve many of them and is often a good first step.  Try following the steps in order.

    1. Unplug all cables and cards of memory in the printer.  Unplug the power cable, directly from the back of the printer when the printer is still on.
    2. Unplug the other end of the power cord.
    3. If there is a power supply on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.
    4. After 60 seconds, plug it directly into a wall outlet ( not a surge protector or battery backup ).
    5. Connect the power cord to the back of the printer.
    6. The printer should automatically feed back upward.  If not, turn it on with the power button.
    7. Try to make a photocopy (if your printer is a printer all in one) before you connect the cables from the printer.
    8. Connect all other cables to the printer.

If this solved your problem, no other troubleshooting is necessary.  You can take additional measures if necessary, but it is often a good first step.

It is recommended that the printer be connected directly to a wall outlet to ensure a constant level of power.  Sometimes, when plugged into a surge protector or battery backup, the quantity of electricity is not received by the printer.  Power problems can cause printing problems.  It is particularly important to be plugged directly into a wall outlet with wireless connectivity problems, "sleep mode" and other power problems.

  • Cannot perform a factory reset

    Hello!

I have a "HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14-n005eo Ultrabook" running windows 8.1. It got stuck last Friday my computer and when I tried to restart it says that there's something wrong with windows and it gave me the alterantives to fix. I first tried the Palm backup program but had a blue screen (System unhandled thread exception (iaStorA.sys). Then I tried to just restore the Windowspart (do not make my files) but I got blue screen. I then switched to a repressive full reset (with my restore DVD that I luckily had done just a few days before the crash) efter completed 5-disc the computer restarted and said, restor systen was incomplete so I tried again, but I had the same problem. The last thing I tried is a rest from the factory and now (after the 5 disk), it began to restart and information that says that the HP software was about to settle came. I left the computer at the intsaller Finns and when I checked later he was turned of so I turned on the PC and after the 'Very' message, I got blue screen again (system thread exception not hanled (iaStorA.sys)) and the same thing happens when I restart the computer.

    What should do? Help, please!

    / Ajbp

Try a date different somewhere hafway between 01/01/2014 and 2014/06/01, and then try another. If it fails and offers to record the recovery log, save and contact HP.

You would have been better to create a USB stick recovery. They are much more reliable.

  • How to do a Hard Reset on a HP laptop?

Hard Reset allows you to solve problems of software and hardware

This post looks at HP laptops.

Hello, I will do a quick post on how to do a Hard Reset. A hard or forced Reset clears all the information in the memory of the computer which can restore the functionality. Reset your computer forces the system to erase and restore the software connections between the BIOS and hardware.

Perform a hard or forced reset may fix the following:

    • Windows stops responding
    • Computer stops before Windows loads (no boot, a blinking cursor on a black screen, or errors related to the operating system not found or missing disk)
    • View suddenly turns off and remains empty
    • Software freezes
    • Keyboard unresponsive
    • The computer did not return from standby or sleep mode
    • An external device stops responding (turn off the power to the device in addition to perform the steps in this document)

When you perform a hard reset, you must disconnect or remove all devices. You should start and test the computer itself and then reconnect a device at a time. To solve the high beginning or operational problem, you must run the wizard from the HP Support, or manually install the drivers all updated by Microsoft and HP.

To perform a hard reset, use the following steps:

To perform a hard reset, use the following steps:

    1. Turn off the computer.
    2. Remove the computer from the docking station or port replicator.
    3. Disconnect all external devices connected: displays of devices USB, printers, external storage, etc..
    4. Unplug the laptop AC adapter.
    5. Remove the battery from the compartment to batteries.
    6. Press and hold button power for about 15 seconds, remove any residual electric charge capacitors that protect memory.
    7. Insert the battery and plug the power adapter into the laptop. but do not connect peripheral devices.
    8. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    9. If a boot menu appears, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows normally , and then press the Enter key.
    10. After you have reconnected each peripheral device, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers.

Now, if your computer has a non-removable battery, these steps will not work. Instead, refer to use a Reset forced to solve Hardware and Software questions on laptop with a sealed Non removable b... .

I hope that this solves any problem you can have that happen with your laptop.

I don't know if im being stupid or if there is a problem with my camera. I want to perform a hard reset and clear the cache on my phone I have been experiancing a few minor bugs since the update to Froyo, but for some reason, I can't get to the screen of the bootloader on Flash as before, can someone explain what im doing wrong!

    Turn off the phone.

    Wait 5 to 10 seconds.

Press and hold the POWER and VOLUME DOWN keys until a screen will appear with a "!" inside a triangle and a little Android standing next to him.

Press both VOLUME keys at the same time to display the menu.

Use the VOLUME keys, navigate through the menu to select Factory Reset / wipe and make your choice with the POWER button.

Once the reset is complete, go to the system to reboot and make your selection with the POWER button.

Your phone should now be reset to the factory settings.

  • Hard reset

    Recently, I bought a HP Pavilion x 360 a232nd.

Tonight, I tried to update the software and the bios via the HP program on the laptop.

Unfortunately, something went wrong during the update and the laptop froze.

The screen is activated, the mouse cursor works, fan is running, but nothing happens.

I can't turn off the laptop and I can not turn the screen off power (not even when I close the laptop).

I can't find information on how to perform a hard reset on the x 360 Pavilion.

Y at - there someone who can tell me what to do?

    Thanks for the reply.
I found the information about the hard reset earlier, but the laptop could not be turned off, so a hard reset was not possible.

Finally, the battery discharged and after that, I could recharge the battery and restart the laptop. It seems to work fine now.

  • Hard reset on hp g62

If I perform the hard reset on hp g62, so it won't affect the movies and programs on the hard drive?

Hard Reset does not change any settings on the laptop, so it won't affect your photos/music/the data on the hard drive.

Just to confirm, Hard Reset, you mean the following steps.

To remove the battery and the adapter and press and hold the power for 30 odd seconds and then plug the adapter only and turn on the laptop.

The foregoing is the steps for a Hard Reset.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones how can I perfom a 'hard reset' on the 4.3 version < OS from my BlackBerry?

    Hello world

I recently encountered a problem on the 8800 and 8300 models, but more generally on all models, this version of the OS is older than the 4.3. Indeed, I noticed that the Wipe of the device functionality is not efficient enough to have your device in a clean state. For example, I have this app that I can't get rid of even after that I did a wipe on my device.

There is also the /resettofactory command, but as explained in this article (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/documentLink.do?externalID=KB17215), it does not work on peripheral models this version of the OS is less than 4.3. So my question is:

How to perform a hard reset on the device that the version of the OS is less than 4.3?

    Thanks in advance.

Well well... your original post not mentioned that you had used the WIPE command in JLCmder, you did mention the Resettofactory command. They are not the same.

I used successfully both JLCmder and JavaLoader wipe devices both less and more than 4.3. I don't know why it does not work for you.

So... you're saying that even if you clean the machine using JLCmder or JavaLoader, this a rest app?

  • Zire 22 hard reset

Now that I replaced my Palm Zire 22 with a Palm Centro (Sprint), I want to give my Zire 22 to a friend.  Before I do that, I want to erase everything from my Zire 22.  How can I perform a hard reset on my Zire 22?

Hello and welcome to the forums of Palm.

A hard reset is done by holding down the power button sticking something thin (your pen, paper clip) to the rear reset the hole of the device. Keep your hand on the power button while you release the paper clip in the reset hole. The display now shows "Palm Powered." Release the power button. Now, you will see a screen in 5 languages and invite you to erase all data from the Palm. Screen says "erase all data?" Yes - go to top, no - down"and you click on the arrow pointing upwards (Silver button on the browser of 5 channels on the lower part of the Palm). This erases all the info from your device.
