Cannot pin a program uninstalled in the bar of

I uninstalled a program that has an icon on the taskbar.  Now that the program is uninstalled, I can't remove the icon.  My first inclination was to do what you always do to remove an icon from the taskbar, right-click on the icon and click "unpin this program from the taskbar".  However, you cannot right click on this icon.  To the left by clicking on the icon generates the error message: "problem with shortcut: this action is only valid for products that are currently installed."

It seems that the only way to remove this icon is to do it manually via Windows Explorer.  I can't find the directory that contains the shortcut.  Is - such a directory exist or should I take additional measures outside the GUI?

Windows 7 RC Build 7100.

Much help appreciated!

PS: Yes, I rebooted my computer!

Update: I solved the problem.  I uninstalled the application and then reinstalled the application.  For some reason any option to "detach from taskbar" was now available on the shortcut when it had not been before.  Strange behavior, but it is now fixed.

Thanks for the suggestions.  This is a good resource for Windows issues.

So my spazzed computer out for a reason, and now I can't delete a program in the task bar. Then it starts to get a little boring and I would appreciate it if anyone had a solution in fixing it.

    Hello

You can solve the problem, but it will remove all of your icons also pinned.  Here's a script that will make the necessary files and registry changes for you.

    1. Copy all the text in bold below and paste it into Notepad (there are 4 lines)
    2. When you save the file, choose the "All Files" type and give it a name ending in .bat (example: Taskbar.bat Reset)
    3. Double-click your new command file to run commands, and then restart your computer.

    DEL/f/s/q/a "%AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar\."

    REG DELETE HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband /F

  • Cannot pin or loose most of the things from the taskbar / / Win7

Hi people, I have an apparently strange issue where I can't PIN or loose most of the things in my taskbar. The generic search has many similar situations but none of them seemed exactly the same and none of the listed solutions worked for me or seemed appropriate.

    Symptoms/findings

    • When you drag the icon 'Documents' from the library of Windows Explorer in the taskbar for example, I see "Pin to Windows Explorer" as expected.
    • Nothing else seems to work like / expected.  There is no context of rt - click on "Pin to taskbar" anywhere including the icons on the desktop or the start menu.
    • I can't for example remove Visual Studio from the taskbar.  (I must have had it there somehow in the past.)
    • "PIN to Start Menu" appears for most / all of the selections.  It's just pin/detach from the task bar which seems to be down.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

Please don't be crazy about me but what I do not understand what your problem with Toshiba?
If you use external third party product, please contact the support of manufacturers and clarify this issue.

I mean, you'll be really lucky if anyone here uses the same wheels. Before you wait here contact manufacturer. They have the best experience with own products.

  • Cannot run some programs such as the update & a live care

My system is vista Home premium. A few weeks ago, he started just with black screen. I tried a few boot IE vista CD things, restoration etc. I discovered that if I used ctrl/alt/del & open the Task Manager, explorer.exe stopped & then re started with new task, the punt & desktop PC appeared. The problems were then internet Explorer wouldn't work, so I disabled add ons & then it worked well (a bit I have since re active).

Now, the MAIN problem is that the system crashes if I try to run windows update, for example. If I try to install an .exe such as norton 360 file. A Live aid that are installed has stopped working & don't restart. If I try to install anything Online it stalls just & stops working. Some games always seem to work so the system seems to not work at least. The boot issue still exists. If I use command promt and type regedit it just stops & beeps! The command prompt screen is then unusable?

If I enter chkdsk it says access denied?

    Help & ideas please.

The MS Installer Cleanup Utility is available at http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html , that it is a safe to download site from.  Based on warnings from Microsoft on the cleanup utility, however, you might well advised to make a backup disk image or at least a backup of the registry before using it.  C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT is an easy to use free registry backup tool.

  • Try to uninstall coupon printer application. I get this message "c:\Program files (x86)\couponXplorer_5z\bar\3bin\5zBar.dll.

Original title: (x 86) DLL error

Try to uninstall coupon printer application. I get this message "c:\Program files (x86)\couponXplorer_5z\bar\3bin\5zBar.dll. How can I fix it?

    Hi Judy,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you receive .dll error message trying to uninstall an application and I'll be happy to answer your query.

A DLL is a library that contains code and data that can be used by several programs at the same time. For example, in the Windows operating systems, the DLL la DLL Comdlg32 Comdlg32 performs common dialog box functions. Therefore, each program can use the functionality that is contained in this DLL to implement an Open dialog box. This promotes code re-use and the efficient use of memory.

We will try the following methods and check.

Method 1: Try running the fixit: problems that programs may not be installed or uninstalled. This utility removes all previous versions of the uninstalled programs corrupted registry fixes that corrects the problems as the new installer programs.

Method 2: We will place the computer in a clean boot state

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: see 'How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting' to reset the computer starts normally after troubleshooting.

Method 3: Run the System File Checker tool

System File Checker is a Windows utility that allows users to find corruptions in Windows system files and restore the damaged files.

To do this, click Start, type command or cmd prompt in the Search box, right click invite, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

At the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

Note: Do not close the command prompt window until the audit is completed 100%. The results of the analysis will be posted when this process is complete.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Error message after you initialize computer error "Windows cannot find C:\Program Files (x 86) \Search Extensions\Client.exe make sure you typed the name correctly and try again.

After that I turned on my computer, I get this error message... "Windows cannot find C:\Program Files (x 86) \Search Extensions\Client.exe make sure you typed the name correctly and try again."

It all started October 1, 2014, and I have no idea why.

I asked windows assistance online, and he said he had something to do with my registry.
But then there just stop communicating and did not tell me how to solve this problem.

Y at - it a registry repair tool?

Also it does not affect my computer that I can tell.

But I have a problem in which windows cannot detect.

In the printers and devices window, the icon of my computer has a triangle with an exclamation mark inside error.

Maybe someone out there not and I'd appreciate any help.

    Hey, mark

First have you properly uninstalled this program? He was executed at startup of Windows an incorrect uninstall may cause this error may still be registered in MSConfig to start automatically with the computer.

Did you go to the address specified in Program Files (86) \Search Extensions to see if the file is present or not?

With a mark of exclamtion in the middle of a yellow triangle indicates that drivers must be updated.

Right-click on the device with the triangle, select Properties, go to the Hardware tab, select the device with a triangle next to it, select Properties again and select Update driver.

This should solve the problem, if Windows Update can't find a driver for you, you can always go to the manufacturers website and download it there, however, if the Windows Update does not find it there ' has a chance to the manufacturers Web site may not it as well, in this case, you can open Device Manager right-click the missing material or using outdated drivers, select Properties, go to the Details tab and in the hardware id select menu drop-down property search with id, you receive information about the device and so download the drivers the most up-to-date and appropriate from other reliable sources.

    Thank you

  • Cannot pin Lotus Notes shortcut/EXE to the taskbar

So I looked all over the web and I saw all kinds of solutions to fix the axis to the taskbar issues, but none of them have worked or applied to me.  I have the IsShortcut value in the HKCR\lnkfile key, I didn't remove the arrows on shortcuts and I can pin what seems like all other applications in the taskbar.  If I hold the SHIFT key while clicking, I can get the PIN to the Start Menu option, but I can't get the PIN to option from the taskbar anywhere, I try and I can't drag the link there.  I noticed this problem after that I uninstalled and reinstalled Lotus Notes (I had pinned it to the bar tasks previously).

I think I found a hack of sorts to get something out there, but I'd rather have my system works as it should instead of this hack.

I wish I could provide a detailed response, but I fixed it somehow.  After you have uninstalled Lotus Notes, I went through the registry and delete anything that referenced notes.exe or Lotus Notes.  I just installed Lotus Notes again and I can't seem to pin it to the taskbar now.

I have a problem at the opening of the software as administrator, whenever I open a programm (programs that require admin privaleges) says "windows cannot find" C:/Program Files/.../program.exe". Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. "(THIS HAPPENS FOR EACH PROGRAM) I am the only user, also, I am the administrator, I also have another problem, when I run the control panel and try to change something it will not open the box (I wanted to know if the parameters are wrong), when I click, it is as I have not clicked at all, even in SafeMode im helpless There, I can't even change my account settings and run sys restore, but I can open the program (I scanned it are malwares and viruses, but nothing was found, my computer is clean), pls help me, any advice would be very appricieated. I defragmented, managed antivirus analysis I did everything. I've used software: advanced system care, safety 2012 AVG, Malwarebytes anti-malware trial. Sometimes, when I want to uninstall something safe mode (only there, I can do something) I get the message that im not allowed to uninstall the software.

Still having the problem? Were you able to run SFC in Mode safe?

You could try a repair of Windows 7 installation or if not a clean install.

  • SpeedBit has ruined all my programs. Cannot open/run programs including the use of my FAVORITE BROWSER - MOZILLA FIREFOX. Help! PLEASE, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO

I don't know that started it all. I have been using Mozilla Firefox as my #1, favorite and, of course, my favorite on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Opera browser... That's all just great. In addition, I had used 10 DAP Premium, SpeedBit downloader and converter downloader. Everything to go well for more than a year. Then all of a sudden, sometimes about 2 months ago, I opened my browser, tried to run so that I can go online. And here, I got a message saying: C:\Program Files\Common Files\SpeedBit\SBUpdate\sbfi32.dll is missing. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem. Well I did - probably at least 20 times, but no help, it did not work. Now, I can't open my programs/software even more because the same message keeps popping up. Personally, I think that something must be done to those who wrote the program - if they wanted something malicious [in] the software - I REALLY NEED HELP!

Try to uninstall speedbit from the control panel.

    And update firefox to getfirefox.com

  • How do I uninstall the program "Utilities" since the Satellite A210

How can I uninstall the program "Utilities" since the Satellite A210. In Control Panel I can uninstall the program "Value Package" but not "utilities".

With the A210 I can't work with the FN keys and on a German Toshiba support website I found this information:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB0402UR0000R01DE.htm

So I'll try this installation sequence:

    -Chipset utility
    -Display driver
    -Toshiba value added package V1.2.40
-Technical support utility Flash Cards for Satellite L500 (see this thread, why I want to do):
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46135&TSTART=7
    -V1.0.25.5C Toshiba-Utilities

I hope that the FN keys will work after this installation sequence.
