Cannot play MP3 after 1.3.5

I updated my phone to 1.3.5 yesterday and everything seems to work properly.  Then I noticed that my phone is more would ring on incoming calls and many other sounds were missing.  I go into settings sounds & ringtones, and none of the rings coin.  I then went in-app music to see if something would play but not luck.  I select a song and he immediately jumps to the next track and so on.  All mp3 files appear when I connect my pre to my computer in USB drive mode and they play fine on my computer if the files are not 'corrupt.  I rebooted the phone several times after the update but still no sound.  Preware is installed, but I removed everything that I installed with it before you run the update of the OS and that recently reloaded a few patches (after my no sound discovery).

Here are the patches that I have installed with Preware, just in case they may have been an influence:

The battery percentage icon

Duration of the call in the call log

Activate the display landscape in PDF

State of game to area code

Timestamps - own (it's in the messaging app)

Anyone else encounter this?  I would rather not reset/wipe my phone if posible.  Unless there is a way to back up and restore text messages.

Well it seems that WebOS Doctor to the rescue.  After you run the steps to get my phone really really deleted, it seems to be back running.  For all those who encounter this or a similar problem here are the steps I took to solve it:

Before wiping my phone:

  • Place the phone in Dev Mode (enter upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart in global research, tap the Dev when he appears, turn it on and restart the phone).
  • Connect the phone to a computer in Charge only mode.
  • File of the WebOS Quick Install reception tool tool to copy /var/luna/data/dbdata/PalmDatabase.db3 on the phone (this is the storage of text messages, call logs, e-mail settings, and probably other things).
  • Switch on your phone in USB Drive mode.
  • Copy everything in the USB.
  • Run the backup application one last time for good measure.

Wiping my phone:

  • Access the application of device information and record the serial number of phones.
  • Go to the Palm site and download the latest WebOS Doctor here (you will need the serial number to download).
  • Stop at the phone as if you were going to exchange the battery.
  • Hold the Volume Up button and plug the charging cable, once a few seconds, the display should read a great symbol USB (using the AC adapter not USB to a computer).
  • Run WebOS Doctor and go through the steps until he asked to have the phone connected.
  • Now, plug the phone into the computer and wait for the next in WebOS Doctor button becomes available.
  • This process took a good amount of time on my phone but don't have any errors.  What I read, if there is no problem in this step run WebOS Doctor again usually lightens it.
  • When it's done, you should see the initial Setup screen asking for language, connection Palm profile, etc.

Restore my stuff:

  • To run restore Palm profile during the initial installation (well enough to give passwords for email).
  • Put the phone in Dev Mode again.
  • Connect the phone to a computer in Charge only mode.
  • File of the WebOS Quick Install Send tool tool to send PalmDatabase.db3 to/var/luna/data/dbdata/on the phone.
  • Restart the phone.
  • Connect the phone to a computer using USB Drive mode.
  • Copy of return of the ringtones, music, wallpaper, etc.
  • That's a little, just to random other personal preferences after this.

After completing these steps, I was pretty much back where I started only with the 1.3.5 version of the OS and the ability to play back mp3 files.  I hope this helps others!

On a side note, that this also fixed all the problems I've had playing videos using the YouTube app.  It never really bothered me because I don't use of videos or YouTube, but it has never worked since I got the phone.  They would all just raise an error as soon as I tried to play anything.

    Hey Buddy,

According to the Toshiba DVD Player error message: are you trying to watch DVDs on an external monitor or TV?
In your case, I will try to reinstall the DVD playback software. This means delete the current version and then restart your computer. Then download and install the latest software from Toshiba DVD player.

But to be honest: it's that everything works with VLC media player as it s very big and small media player that can play all audio and video files. Isn t it? ;)

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. A network firewall might prevent the player to open the file by using the UDP transport protocol. If you typed a URL in the open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:").

I can listen to other stations, but not this one.  Before about 2 weeks ago, I had no problem getting the live stream.  Has been no change on my computer.  URL is: http://www.wlpv1079online.com/Live%20Streaming%20Page.htm

  • Error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file' when try to play wav or midi files.

Original title: WMP "can't play wav or midi.

Using WMP 11 on Windows XP SP3.

Windows Media Player has somehow forgotten how to play wav or midi files. Doubleclicking either of these file types give an error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. " There is a button 'Close' and 'Web Help' which still informs me, "you met the C00D1199 error message... ". ». Following the advice given nothing less than useful.

I can easily play these files with RealPlayer or VLC so I don't think it's a driver problem, and it wasn't a corruption right after installing the other players. WMP seems to work OK when playing music or AVI. And there is no harm to hear a sound (wav or midi) in Windows for various system events. Have already uninstalled/reinstalled WMP without result.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.

Windows xp does not come standard with a dvd decoder, so it must be installed. This would have been done by Dell when you purchased if you say that you did not.

You have all the disks in Dell? If so, get through them dvd playing software, common are windvd or powerdvd.

    ==================================
M4A is not a compatible format. The simple solution
is to convert .m4a files in .wma format and
    then import into Movie Maker.

The following free Converter works for me...

    Free Mp3 Wma Converter
    http://www.download.com/free-MP3-WMA-converter/3000-2140_4-10442362.html
(FWIW if you install the converter, you can uncheck
offerings from Yahoo and Dealio) (also... you can uncheck
the CD Ripper and Easy MP3 Cutter)

    ==================================
I joined just thinking... the free VLC Media Player
and or Media Player Classic allows you to 'play '.
your files of .m4a... but they will have to if conversion
you want to use in Movie Maker.

    VLC Media Player

Media Player Classic for Win2k/XP 6.4.9.1 Revision 89

(FWIW... click on the blue button download... not the red...
the file you want to download is: "mplayerc_20081210.zip")
