  I set up a wireless about a week ago and have done with the following security features: WEP, activate only certain MAC address to connect and disabled to broadcast the SSID.  I was able to use it very well with my Mac computer using the airport, but when I tried to connect my roommates, a dell inspiron 1525 with vista computer, it can not connect.  I can locate the network but when I try to connect to the network, I get a message saying that for a Windows cannot connect to the network and that the wireless link has failed for unknown reasons.  He then said to contact your administrator, but it's me.  I have a basic knowledge of computers just enough to be dangerous and basically know what I'm going along.  If anyone has any advice for me, my roommate and I'll be very grateful.

  I have an inspiron 1525 with Vista installed on it.  If I leave my computer be for about 30 minutes then it freezes.  Today, I've been using Microsoft Word and again once it froze while I was in the middle of a project.  I used a registry cleaner from the Microsoft One Care and the problem still persists.  I am currently in safe mode now and it still froze, but I'll let it be by itself and see if it freezes or not.  I don't know what I have to do.  Is - it there anyway anyone can help me out here and point me in the right direction?

Have you tried a boot clean and troubleshooting session with your machine to determine the program or driver that could be the cause of the problem?   In fact - what HP means without out and say what they deem a legacy device (printer) and even if they included a universal driver (Microsoft put in Windows 7) and it should work without doing you anything else - it is perhaps not fully functional as it was in previous operating systems where they (HP) it supported.

  HP in this case is the manufacturer of the equipment and in all related case material - the hardware manufacturer is responsible for the materiel support (drivers, software, etc.)

  You can follow the advice of HP, if you want to:

  Install the driver with Windows Update with a USB connection (downloadable Driver is not available)

  But really what they're trying to say is, "your printer is old - buy a new one from us so that we can stay in business."
