Cannot rebuild the desktop

Hello. I have a MacBook MB062LL/A (2,1-1181) running OS x 10.6.8 .tI was a little wide, slow running and other things. I just bought it used off eBay. The HD has been wiped clean with a new installation of the operating system (when I started I was greeted with the screen "familiar" multilingual) so he must be a Virgin installation (although Safari has quite a few cookies), but he continues to slow down really bad. I have reset the PRAM (Command-Option-P-R during startup) and I tried to rebuild the desktop (command-Optiom at the start), but it asks me if I want to rebuild the desktop. Can someone advise me? TIA.

1. There is no office to rebuild in Mac OS X; This is a feature of Mac OS 9-era no equivalent Mac OS X.

2. restart with the keys Option, command, P, and R keys.

The answer above was copied and pasted from a previous post of Niel. rebuild the desktop for OS 10.6.8

  • Cannot delete the desktop shortcuts

I recently added Dell Dock. Shortcuts added were on the quay and on the desktop. When I tried to delete the desktop shortcuts, I received the following message:

    "Cannot find this article.
It is no longer in the Office of C:\Users\Public\Public. Check the location of the item and try again. »

I then deleted Dell Dock and now am stuck with 5 shortcuts on my desktop that are not going anywhere, not open to anything, and I can't remove.

    Someone please help!

    Hi StarsSkyClouds,

Thanks for the response on the Microsoft answers Community Forums.

Try to remove these in safe mode shortcut icons. Follow the steps on how to start in safe mode.

    Advanced startup options

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/f9c50a72-04EC-4088-9fd4-a4f979eef5a71033.mspx

Note: Try to remove the icons from your account in case of connection failure to the account administrator in safe mode go the c:\users\username\desktop location and try to remove it from there.

Another step you can try is to create a new user account in Control Panel > user accounts. Open a session in the new account go to c:\users\username\desktop location and try to delete from there.

If this fails, you can try to remove these icons in the windows recovery environment starting from the DVD. Follow the steps below for the link below to start the recovery environment.

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/95b4c03a-ac42-49a4-a90d-8f3736a995271033.mspx

After you boot from the DVD

Step 1: Start in the screen Options of system recovery.

Step 2: Click on the command line option.

Step 3: Type notepad and press ENTER to open a Notepad. Press Ctrl + S, and it will open a save dialog box.

Step 4: Click on computer, and it will open all your drives.

Step 5: Go to the c:\users\username\desktop site and remove icons.

    I hope this helps.

  • Satellite Pro S300 - cannot extend the desktop to an external monitor

    Hello
I have a Satellite Pro S300 and it won't extend the desktop to an external monitor / projector, but it will clone the desktop?

    so far I have tried:
2 instructors and 1 projector all do the same thing, will clone but not extend.
Reinstall the latest drivers to display on the Toshiba site.
Reinstall the latest drivers of change on the Toshiba site.

But nothing worked, I even checked my S300 colleagues to make sure that I use the same parameters and their (of 2 other s300) extend and clone office.

Has anyone seen this before and how solve you the problem?

    Paul

Did you first remove the old driver before you install the new driver? If this is not the case, try to reinstall the driver again. Therefore, to remove the old driver, restart the computer, use CCleaner to clean the registry and install the new version you can find on the Toshiba site.

More I would try updating the BIOS. You can find it on the Toshiba site too.

I hope it works for you.

  • cannot show the desktop on the envy Touchsmart screen

I can't show the desktop on the screen of my laptop Envy 17 quad touchsmart with Windows 8 t, although other images, such as screen saver can be seen.

    Hello @CJ867 ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that you are having problems with the screen does not display is not on your ENVY 17 laptop. I will do my best to help you with this.

Can you tell me if the office applications appears or if only the splash screen and apps work? Or is it only the background is black, but you can see the icons and the system tray?

If it is a new issue, there were recently some updates Windows that were originally black screens after login and it could be related. I suggest you perform a restore system before the issue started. You can see how to do this here: (Windows 8) system restore.

The system restore is usually confused with a system refresh or reset. Recovery allows to uninstall updates, drivers or software that was installed after the restore point, but will not delete your personal files.

Let's start with that. Let me know if it helps!

  • Cannot delete the desktop icon! Driving me crazy

I currently have a Norton Security Scan icon on my sidebar icon list.  I uninstalled the program, I don't know how she even had it installed since I have McAfee and Windows Defender, but the stupid icon won't go away.  I have tried right clicking 'delete', but it says that it cannot find the file, so it will not remove the icon. Help!

The easiest way is to reinstall the program > removes the icon > uninstall the program again.

But you can not reinstall norton, as you now McAfee installed as your AV.

  • Cannot delete the desktop icon: Network Magic?

Running Windows 7 64-bit HP.  Network Magic is installed as a 30 day trial when I've upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 (why I've never waited so long?). I uninstalled by getting in pure Networks/Setup...etc; It's, I think I've done the proper uninstall. However, I can't get rid of his Network Magic Folders icon on my desktop. I can't even move the icon on the desktop. Right click gives: open and create a shortcut.  Selecting open doesn't do nothing, shortened by selecting creates a shortcut on the desktop that can be deleted. Suggestions?

EDIT: Here's an answer essentially the same question (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7desktop/thread/3a90c945-1072-4bb7-9afc-ec8df2cee03b).  However, I'm not good in the registry to work, I can't go wrong with it as I don't know if the answer is there.

    That did the trick:

    Delete this key...

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\ {C55C499D-3518-44a1-998E-796AC5FC989D}]

  • Win 7 network users cannot push the desktop files

Hi - I have W7HPx64 on the table, and descendants both have Jason with W7HPx64.  Marcot on WLAN, the office is on ethernet.  I've set up a "home network", but establishing a "homegroup" appeared to leave me with a lot of side effects, so I went to the old-school working group I had on W2K Pro who never gave us difficulties.

The problem is that after having shared folders on the desktop and on the Marcot, we can push/pull files to/from the Marcot, but the Manon can't push the files to the desktop.  They can specify good files.

At the moment that I simply do not understand the configuration of permissions very complicated W7 inherited from XP.  I can not even find a 'group' for the hosts on the local network: to get any form of communication, everyone had to be set up as a 'user' so that we can log on to remote computers.  I'm also confused by a difference between 'share with... '. "in the context menu for folders and files (which is currently attached to"nobody"(I think) and properties > sharing.)

Logon is not a problem.  Only by pushing the files on the desktop.  Please, can someone direct me to a place where W7 permissions/security/sharing is explained in words of one syllable or less?

    Gordon.

    Hi Gordon,.

I'm sorry to hear that you are facing issue to push the files to the users of the network. We defer the steps described in the following Microsoft help articles. I'm sure this will help you to solve the problem.
