Cannot remove Avg nation, appears in a new tab!

I already tried to reset Mozilla, delete unwanted programs, the scans with at least 5 running antimallware programs, I even deleted Avg antivirus (no worries I have installed a new immediately) and nothing has worked! Everytime I open a new tab, it is just sitting there.

The only solution is therefore completely restart Firefox and lose all my bookmarks and preferences?

  • When, on my home page, I click on the link "transparent popup" in the query "did you mean: transparent popup", NO RESULTS appear in this new tab; How to solve?

I had trouble due, apparently, to a file named popuptransparent [dot] xul, which I have 3 cases on my computer (Win XP/Firefox last v.). Using my window of AVG home page, I get "popuptransparent" (try to fix) and the results appear OK. But then when I click to a new tab, on the "transparent popup" link in the query "did you mean: transparent popup", NO RESULTS appear in this new tab. In addition, when I reload then the Panel of AVG which sought to 'popuptransparent' in the first place, it, too, shows now no results. Or a panel shows Google now no results. They show the quantity of results, but just white screens for the results themselves.

Regarding the problem of searching, you can check the extension "Disconnect"? I think it could affect the Google sites and third parties who use Google. You can disable or try its button Options here:

Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Extensions category

While you're there, you can disable all extensions essential and unrecognized. When in doubt, turn off.

  • Is there a way to make the results of the search bar appear in a new tab (and not in the current tab)?

I'm new to Firefox, but experience a great improvement on IE. I find it heavy to have to open a new front tab - I use the search bar... I would largely prefer a similar option to 'search results appear in a new tab.

    Thanks for the help!

    Edit: I found it.

This preference can be changed by typing about: config

    (1) type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter (click the button promising to be careful and please be careful!)

    (2) in the filter box, type or paste the Search and pause until the preferences are filtered

    (3) double-click browser.search.openintab to change for real. You're done, you can close all: config now.

You are a person of keyboard or mouse?

Using the keyboard after you type your query, hold down the Alt key while pressing ENTER to open search results in a new tab. This also works in the address bar: when you type the name of a new site, hold the Alt key when you press ENTER to open this site in a new tab.

Using the mouse, hold down the CTRL key while clicking on the magnifying glass icon.

Is there a way to always open in a new tab without having search results to use the Alt or Ctrl key? Hmmm, perhaps, I have not studied that.

  • Yahoo Search bar now appears on my new tabs Firefox pages

Before you answer that, I ALREADY deleted the Yahoo option toolbar already in TOOLS > OPTIONS > SEARCH box. In both upper search bar, I removed all evidence of Yahoo. Is not on this part. This is the new page/new tab coming with my 'top sites' mosaic. He changed a few days ago and I don't know why. I don't think THAT I have updated to any software, but if I did, it would have been Adobe Flash or Adobe Acrobat/Reader. When the search bar appears on the tiles, now it is YAHOO. I hate Yahoo and use Opera or Chrome, if I can't solve this problem. Someone help me find an answer. I refuse to be forced to use a search engine that does not support.

Thank you... In fact, I had an another "fix"... my computer crashed, so I had to get a new hard drive, etc. What I've been able to find out, however, even if all the settings that you have in your answer were what I had been doing before I posted, I discovered that a program to rip the DVD I bought recently had all these toolbars wicked as automatic installation with the express install option. I found those today and not controlled before screwing the system. It's a real shame when people stir this crap in the paid software programs and make sure you can not escape or uninstall them.

  • How to make the homepage to appear when opening new tab

Under Firefox 40.x whenever I opened a new tab, my home page appeared. When I upgraded to 41.0, opening a new tab displays the suggested sites. How do I have my home page appear whenever I open a new tab?

41 of Firefox is no longer uses the browser.newtab.url setting in about: config because he was constantly attacked by malware. From 41 of Firefox, you need an add-on to change the new tab page.

Here are a few options (I'm learning more all the time):

    • If you are already using Classic theme restaurant: There is an option somewhere (!) in his dialogues of the parameters to select another page in the new tab.

    Setting up substitute again tab

After installing this extension, you must use the Options page to set the new desired tab page (instead of use subject: config).

Open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: Cmd + shift + a)
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, find the new tab override and click the Options button. (See first screenshot attached).

Depending on the size of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the address in the form. (See second screenshot attached). For example:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Then tab or click this form field and you can test using Ctrl + t.

    Success?

Once you have set it as you wish, you can close the Add-ons page (or use the back button to return to the list of Extensions of this Options page).

  • Cannot do Yahoo to stop opening with new tab - even when I click on "Home" in a new tab.

When I open a fresh tab, arrives with the Yahoo Search page. I went into options repeatedly to remove Yahoo, define search Google as my homepage and set Google as your default search page. Just keep coming back to Yahoo.

Actually, there is a parameter to the new tab page:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?

If the problems persist, some potential diagnoses and remedies:

If Firefox will not let you change this setting: you can have what is called SearchProtect on your system. This must be removed the control panel. If the status is 'locked' we'll need to help you investigate a configuration file "automatic".

Firefox if allows you to save your changes, but he doesn't know: one of your extensions may be the substitution of her. You can consult, disable and/or remove extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: command + shift + a)
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, take a critical look on the list on the right and turn off (or remove) something unknown. If you find something like Searchme, leads or tap, I will recommend additional cleaning measures.

If the modification works during your session, but during the next startup is return to the unwanted page: you could have a user.js file in your personal settings Firefox (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and delete the file: How to fix preferences that will not save.

    A little luck?

  • How can I remove the search field in the new tab page?

I just started to use the new tab by default FF page and want to remove the search box just above the tiles.

Is it possible to do this without the help of CSS?

You can hide the search bar and margins at the top and bottom with the code in the userContent.css file to get more space for the tiles.

You can add code to the userContent.css file.

    @-moz-document url(about:newtab) {
     #newtab-margin-top,
     #newtab-margin-bottom,
     #newtab-search-container { display:none !important; }
    }

Customization files (Web sites) userContent.css and userChrome.css (user interface) are located in the folder of chrome in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

    • Create the folder chrome (lowercase) in the .default < xxxxxxxx > profile folder if the folder does not exist
    • Use a text editor like Notepad to create a file userContent.css (new) in the folder chrome (file name is case sensitive)
    • Paste the code into the userContent.css file in the Editor window
    • Make sure that you select "All files" and not "text files" when you save the file via "save file as" in the text editor as userContent.css.
Otherwise, Windows can add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with one does not not userContent.css.txt file
  • How to remove the search bar in a new tab window so that I can have nine tiles instead of only six?

I used to get nine tiles when I open a new tab. All of a sudden I get 6 votes against and a search bar at top. All attempts to remove the search bar failed. I tried to change the rows and columns in topic: config and I learned about the use of Ctrl/scroll to shrink the tiles to allow more screen. This is a dispute over what to happen. Is it possible to get rid of the search bar, or is it possible to get the nine tiles narrowed to arrive when I click on a new tab rather than having to scroll? Thanks for your help.

  • WHY GOOGLE NOW APPEARS IN MY NEW TABS AFTER THE UPDATE? I AM FURIOUS

By default, the new screen tabs must be empty, as if it was always.

I don't want a work autour, or having to mess with it.

I DON'T want to see google, or any other product, appears by default when I open a new tab.

This will be as the strong arm of the end of the 1990s Microsoft tactics. If I want to use google, I'm going... BUT I DON'T WANT THAT IT WAS FORCED ON ME! I trusted to Firefox and allowed their updates and today they have abused my trust in trying to push products down my throat. I'm furious.

Google seems to be the new evil empire, as Microsoft used to be...

"MEET THE NEW BOSS, SAME AS THE OLD BOSS".

It seems that it is time to find a new browser, like Firefox has sold to Google and it is a sad day.

I don't want a work around, I want windows and new empty tabs by default.

I hope that this problem is corrected in the next day or so, otherwise I'm going to the new browser that my friend told me that I should use anyway... AS WHEN I LEFT INTERNET EXPLORER A LONG TIME AGO... AND I NEVER LOOK BACK and I never open new IE.

Please don't make me restart my whole system and cleaned up...
I would stick with Firefox, but you have to solve this problem. I need to be able to trust you.

    Max,
I appreciate you posting the return. I know that Mozilla also appreciates each of the search engines that are installed by default in Firefox.

The home page changes when another search engine is selected in the dropdown of the search bar.

I mark your message as the solution to this question and thank you for contacting the Mozilla Support.

  • Not a question, but a solution to unwanted thumbnails appearing in a new tab.

I was forced to create a new profile, because after an update to version 17.0, Firefox has persisted in tabs from the previous session. Unfortunately another problem developed, namely the constant appearance of a series of thumbnails in a new tab, an installation that I certainly won't. After reviewing the forums and using Mozilla, I tried all the solutions proposed without success.

Finally, I went to: browser.newtabpage.enabled config and rendering it is false. Dull thumbnails have disappeared!

It is also documented in the support article of customize the page new tab (see the section "How can I disable the new tab page").

  • How can I remove annoying clicking noise when opening new tab?

I have goggled it and it says something of non-script (I'm not running) and nothing else that sounded remotely close to my problem. Basically, every time I open a new tab (which I do tons of) I hear the most odious type click hard and he's pushing me to the top of the walls. I simply cut the whole browser then many media players and the game as the audio directly instead of adobe flash or other browser. I just learned that he also plays more noise in the world when I use the spell check feature...

Any help on deleting this file its terrible of Firefox would be greatly appreciated... I'd hate to start using chrome comes out of this sound.

Only the Add-ons I use are Adblock Plus 2.6.3 Advanced SystemCare surf Protection 1.0 (I guess it installed itself with the CSA program) and Leechblock 0.6.6.

All my plugins are disabled by default, unless I manually turn their add-on Manager window when I start firefox and the front sound pieces I never turn them on.

    Hmm...

What exactly is the sound? To see if it is a built-in Windows sound, could you review the sounds assigned to different actions in the control panel and see if the noise you hear is one of these:

Start menu > Control Panel > hardware and sound category > change system sounds > (in the dialog box) sounds tab

Also, use the parameter which indicates each tab as his own overview in the Windows task bar? If so, could test showing you the real only windows on the bar?

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > tabs

clear the check box "Show glimpses of tab in the Windows task bar.

http://www.southernpersuasion.com I have maintained this site for years. Recently, rather than posting the photos on a photos storage provider and publish them to facebook, I've published on facebook and then related site (select the link to photos). When I click on a link, I get a blank page in the framework. When I click with the right button on the link and select open a new tab, or open a new fenΩtre happens. I do not think that I screwed up to the top of the html... in fact, I think I just change the links to previous entries that were in fact related to PhotoBucket or similar.
