  • Old MacPro cannot run the latest update to iTunes

I have an old MacPro 1.1 running OS X 10.6.8 I want to put my music on a new iPod Touch, I just bought and it says I can't because my software does not support the latest version of iTunes. Download another operating system that will allow me to use this iPod? I just tried El Capitan and it says that my computer will not support it.

iOS9 on a mobile device requires iTunes 12.3 or higher, which in turn requires a computer running OSX 10.8.5 or higher.  Update of the system only checks the updates for the current version of the system you run, but that itself can be updated.  It may or may not be possible to upgrade your computer to the system requirements. Find your computer on the web site of http://www.everymac.com model and near the bottom of the specification of the system section, he will tell what versions of the operating system, it is able to run. If you can not run a newer system, you will not be able to sync this phone to your current computer. If she can run 10.8.5 or higher, you can either buy a download for Apple OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion code online, or you can try to install the free El Capitan OSX 10.11.  El Capitan can run slower on older machines and require the additional purchase of RAM.  Making a big jump in versions of system is also more likely to affect the old software.

Do you have this problem with power supply battery only or is the problem when the laptop is connected to the power supply running too?

  • Cannot run the driver updates

I use an optical keyboard and mouse from Logitech.  They sent me to update the software for this device, in the two versions of 34 and 68 bits.  (My OS is 68 bits.)  I downloaded both, but when I try to run or the other I get an error message stating "this is not a valid application of Win34."  Also, I see that the files they sent me are empty.  Logitech tech support reps tell me of these programs are downloaded regularly by many users and work very well.

Can anyone think of what goes wrong?

First of all, I think you mean 32-bit and 64-bit and a Win32 application, these numbers are powers of 2.

That said, 'not a win32 application valid' is normally associated with a corrupted download. Try using another browser to download or you can also download on another PC to memory stick or other removable media.

I've been reluctant to use these registry cleaners too but had no choice. They well with basic cleaning after uninstall. It is heartbreaking how reckless SSII is during the cleaning of the registry during the uninstallation of their software. And some of the best cleansers will warn you if a fix is dangerous or not you can not run it. But what sometimes happens is that vacuuming can cause two problems for everyone that it fixes if you aren't careful.

I'll try to post on the site you posted. I'll post here if it helps.

  • New X 301 - Cannot run ThinkVantage System Update.

Argh.  Trying to run the update system on nine X 301 and the process hangs at 34 percent complete, with no downloaded bytes.  Looks like it is still at the stage of the NEW GET - but it's been sitting there for 40 minutes.  This has now happened twice and the system is only 2 hours old.  Help help.

Update system worked too well this morning (after a reboot).  It froze 34% several times last night and then uploaded everything perfectly this morning. Go figure.  Moral of the story is that we should probably always restart before posting a problem on the forums.

  • Cannot run programs after updates

On 17 downloaded and installed updates, Service pack 2 for windows, service pack 2 for Office 2007, update KB967642 for office, 5 a security updates for office, silver lamp, after that, I found that all installed widows games ie. solitair, spiders etc: wouldn't, for game executable error XXX has stopped working. This has happened once before and after contacting the provider of my PC, we finished by performing a restore factory setting which has removed all installed programs. I don't want to do what I've only had the PC since January 2009 and already done 2 reset factory for similar reasons. I also now had a breakdown with an audio editing program that has bad but on the import of a music file, the program closes. I uninstalled all updates except office service Pack 2 and update 967642 KB giving not the option uninstall programs and features which had no effect on the games. I uninstalled the software for the program audio and reinstalled from the CD of the program, but I still have the same problem. I could not perform a restore as there is no restore point before the installation of the update. The factory reset was carried out on May 11, 2009, the date where the full system has been updated. My OS is Vista Home premium Acer Aspire M3201, processor Quad-Core AMD Athlon (TM) 9150e 1.80 GHz. ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics onboard, the DD Realtek Audio Manager. Is it possible to restore these items and all the other programs that I've not yet used and can be done? I'm only a user base with no or very little technical knowledge.

    Hello PGSW,

Good to see your reply, I'm sorry to hear that the issue is still unresolved.

I would like to ask you a number of things:

1 > please tell me the name of the system manufacturer.

2 > you get an error when you try to use the windows movie maker or windows media player.

3 > if you do not insert a CD or DVD you are able to use Windows media very good player?

I suggest you to check the sound and pilots display in Device Manager and update with the latest and check.

You can also try to do a scan online virus bygoing to: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

Once you are on the home page, click on "full service scan" and make a scan of the computer.

Please let me know about the results.

  • Software of third parties cannot run their automatic updates

Fully working to update Windows 7 Professional (x 64) on a custom desktop. My problem is that I can't get back specifically not updated for a number of products of third parties, including:

    • The Adobe Flash Player installer
    • iTunes
    • Origin
    • StarCraft Setup
    • CyberPatrol installer
    • Skype
    • Spybot S & D

The funny thing is that many of these products have other web services that work very well. For example, all Skype services work. I can access the iTunes store and the Bank of origin without any problem. Apart from these programs, the internet itself works fine - I can browse in IE and FireFox with also good results. I can also surf the internet within the steam with no problems - it is fair updaters that fail. And they all give similar errors with regard to not being able to connect to the internet. Updates Windows has no problem - last update was 28 and I had this problem for weeks, longer than that.

This made me suspect a firewall issue was at stake, so I disabled temporarily all firewalls and security software to test these programs, but it did not help. Including turn off Windows Firewall, all services of Avast, stopping CyberPatrol, Spybot... I don't have any other products like Malware Bytes, etc. Just for fun, I also created a few exceptions in the services to communicate my problem in/out appropriate programs.

The event log shows these update services calendar out or simply crashing when they try to connect to their servers. DNS and other TCP/IP settings are set to automatic. I don't have a proxy set up - which is also the default value. Just for fun, I went ahead and reset winsock, and which did not help the cause.

I feel that it's a really obvious answer, but I am confused. Help would be appreciated - any ideas?

All your software up to date there through any firewall access, you can have?  When testing if a firewall is a problem (except for the built-in Windows Firewall), it may be necessary to uninstall any third party firewall, as it is just deactivation is not enough because many parameters remain active even after you turn off.

  • Windows Update cannot currently check the updates, because the service is not running. But it is!

When you try to run windows update on my win7 box family premium, I get the following message: "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running." You may have to restart your computer. »

    Steps has been involved:

    1. I restarted and even restored to the point when the last update was installed.

    2. I verified that the service is running and checked that there are no errors in the the event log for this issue.

    Any ideas?

    PA bear,

I solved the problem, apparently, some of the dll files becomes involved in the process of updating Windows and just need to be reassocie but for the analysis patterns below are the answers to your questions:

1 Win 7 Home Premium installation

    2 64 - bit OS

    3 avast! Full version

    4. no other anti-virus/anti-spyware has never been installed

    5. computer was custom built by me, destructive disk used on a new HDD before installing it so that it wasn't a possibility of always being on the disc software.

    6. I left on deployment (I'm in the army) and when I came back my wife told me that the PC was not able to download the updates since November of last year, so she switched off and left to me when I got home.

Thanks for the quick reply, I was just in the difficulty that I used while watching a few messages on another Web site.
