Cannot run games in DirectX10, no idea why

From: Akira

Hello, I am writing here because I can't get directx 10 to run on any games I play. For example, Team Fortress 2. The possibility to change the version to use DirectX is grayed out, and it is on x 9 directly on the hardware and software.

My specs:

I am running Windows Vista family premium (32 bit) and dxdiag confirms that DirectX 10 is installed. I have an Intel Core 2 6600 and 4 GB of ram.  The video card, I am running is the MIS Geforce 8800 GTS, updated to the latest drivers (drivers released May 13, 2008). I have two monitors, the main running at a resolution of 1680 x 1050, and my secondary running at a resolution of 1280 x 1024.

When I put a few game options to run at x 10 direct, they will fail to load at all. With more games directx 10 on the way, I wish that this issue be fixed as soon as possible = (.) Thanks in advance to anyone who can help and make suggestions!

From: Andy [YaYa]

Team Fortress 2 only supports DirectX 9 .0c, just because you have DirectX 10, does not mean that the game takes place in DirectX 10.

3 things you need for DirectX 10 games.

1. a DirectX 10 compatible video card (nVidia series 8 x 00 or ATi HD)

2. Windows Vista

3. a game that uses DirectX 10.

A few examples I can think off the top of my head...

BioShock (with patch)

Crysis

Assassin Creed

Company of Heroes (with patch)

Lord of the Rings Online

Lost Planet

Hellgate: London

Gears of War

FSX: Acceleration (with patch)

FarCry 2

World in Conflict

Guild Wars 2

http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_10_support

Note that I have not mentioned all the Steam games in the list. :)

There is a command line you can add TF2 to change your level of DirectX, but your only options are "-dxlevel 90 ' for 9.0 c, or '-dxlevel 81 '' for 8.1, but you usually use only the line if you have problems.»

I don't know what the games fail to load for you, but I suggest you check with the manufacturer of game updates, run DXWEBSETUP. EXE to make sure that you have the latest DirectX files installed (you can get in)

I just bought a 200 X and I can't update / install the drivers for the graphics card on the toshiba site! While installing it gives a message saying that a BONE bundles is installed.
The computer is just out of the box and the only game I have installed is bioshock (which does not run in DX10 mode!

    any ideas?

    Hello

JEPP, I have an idea. Check out these sites:

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
    http://www.OmegaDrivers.NET/

and download the latest drivers for your machine from there. These drivers are native ATI/NVIDIA drivers, but the *.inf files have been modified to operate on mobile systems. Just give them a try and you will be able to play your games.

PS: I really like bioshock and I understand you absolutely :)

  • Satellite L650-16w - cannot run game using the old GPU driver

first of all I had to say that my English is not very good, so if there is a German support it would be easier for me to write with German support.

2 weeks ago, I bought a new toshiba Satellite L650-16w.
After installing my favorite game, I'm trying to start this game, but I can't because of this error message: "3DGM gm_OpenGLError, param err error:"not enough memory"", last error win32 #8 "»

After that, I tried the latest driver and installed the driver version 8.723.2 on the home page of toshiba, the amd driver does not work, but the error is still there.
I tried many things but I wasn't able to run this game on my computer.
I'm sure it's a problem with the driver because when I uninstalled the drivers launched the game! (there was only the installed windows vga drivers).
Unfortunately, I had a low fps rate of relay with windows drivers, so I was unable to play this game without the pilots.

I hope someone can help me to launch this game and there is no solution to run this game on my pc.

My oem is windows 7 64 bit, and Yes this game still works on win 7 64 bit because I got to play this game on an another win 7 64 bit system.

    Hello

Usually, you should always use Toshiba driver because drivers are supported for GPU overheating protection.
If you want to use other drivers, then you can do this at your own risk.

I googled a bit and found two pages that provide updated ATI drivers the:
    www.OmegaDrivers.net/
    www.laptopvideo2go.com/

Perhaps one of the pilots of the mentioned pages would you play this game for sure.

    How can I fix this?

    Thank you!

You can try to reinstall the games you get error sdl_mixer.dll since the program is expected to replace the file.
If this does not help, check if you have the file on your computer.
If you can find the file, you can try to re - register the .dll file.
Click Start, click Run, type the following command:
    Regsvr32 sdl_mixer.dll

Then try again see if you can open the game.

Then, run the sfc/scannow to see if she will not replace missing or corrupt file sdl_mixer.dll copy. If this file was provided by Microsoft, the SFC scan should replace the file.

  • Why my iMac (27 inch, mid 2011) cannot run Windows 10 in boot camp? And if he can't, he would work in something like parallels?

Why my iMac (27 inch, mid 2011) cannot run Windows 10 in boot camp? And if he can't, he would work in something like parallels?

To be honest, Windows 10 is compatible with your Mac, but Apple does not release from Windows 10 drivers for it. There are various guides on the Internet to install the drivers for Boot Camp Windows 10 even if your Mac is not supported, but follow them at your own risk (don't forget that you won't receive help to make).

However, you are free to run Windows 10 on a virtual machine. To do this, you can use Parallels, VMware or VirtualBox, but remember that a virtual machine will give you less performance than Windows natively on your iMac. Read-> Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?

  • Satellite L500 - cannot run the DVD-ROM games

I am currently having problems with my Toshiba Satellite L500 series. The problem is, I can run purchased audio CD, as well as DVDs of the films, but I can't run games DVDrom. Music CD will automatically start Media Player very well, as well as films in their corresponding players... Games (like Dragon Age Origins and Left 4 Dead) DVD - ROM cannot read, or be recognized. When I go to "Computer" and try to access the game, it says "no available disk. Please insert disc into drive D: ". So from what I understand, the CD/DVD-rom may not be completely broken if he reads all types, except for games to DVDrom.

Can someone help me with this please! It is quite frustrating because my computer is just now to a year! I wouldn't think that all computer companies sell computers that fall apart after a year... I was hoping that it was different with Toshiba.

Once more, the CD/DVD-ROM can read CD and DVD of the film, but NOT the games to DVDrom. Help, please! Thanks in advance!

    Hi adecker,.

Maybe it s caused due the upper and lower filters in the registry. You should try to remove as you can read in this article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060

I had a similar problem that some discs can't be read more. And I went thorugh based forum to clean the CD/DVD drive lens with a microfibre cloth. Be careful if you do this and don't scratch the lens.

Memtest for the utility of manufacturers of RAM and HD, and CHKDSK for HD.  You did everything

These accidents were related to the corruption of memory (probably caused by a driver).

Please run these tests to check your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you're overclocking (pushing components beyond their design) return you to default at least until the crash is resolved. If you don't know what it is that you're probably not overclocking.

  • Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process

My computer was working fine until last night. Now when I connect I get a blue screen saying that the computer shuts down to prevent further damage from happening. I tried to restore to an earlier point in time when my computer was working but then I get the error:

The OS disk (C :) has errors.
Windows has detected corruption on OS (C :) file system. You should check the drive for errors before you can restore it.

So I'm going to run the chkdsk utility, and I get the error:
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. You want to schedule this volume to check the next time the system restarts.

I'm confused because the chkdsk unility usually works, and I have no idea why she is being used by another process. I am clearly not very good with computers. I tend to do a lot of spywear and adwear on my computer. I have Spyware Doctor that removes any infection.

Help, please. I've tried everything. Thank you.

    Asha22,
It appears from your last post why chkdsk did not run on reboot and you gave an incorrect message is that you did not a space between the volume and the f number.  The correct syntax is:

    CHKDSK c: /f

You can also run the utility disc in this way:
    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/bc1393cf-9f9c-79C7-0f91-9337c2c41f811033.mspx

    1. open the computer by clicking the Start button, click computer.

    2. right click on the hard drive you want to check, and then click Properties.

    3. click on the Tools tab and then, under check for errors, click check now.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will simply report a problem, but not to fix them.

To perform a full disk check, select search and attempt to recover bad sectors. This scan is trying to find and repair physical errors on the hard drive itself, and it may take much longer to complete.

To check for errors file and the physical errors, select both automatically fix errors in file system and search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

    4. click on start.

Depending on the size of your hard disk, this may take several minutes. For best results, do not use your computer for any other tasks while it checks errors.

Note: If you select automatically errors in file system of fix for a disc that is used (for example, the partition that contains Windows), you will need to reschedule the disk check for the next time you restart your computer.

The reason that it says that the disk is in use by another process is because it is in use by the operating system (Vista), and that's why it must be run at startup, before the operating system loads fully.

Another utility, you need to perform is the System File Checker, if you can get your computer to start, either normally or in Mode without failure.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
Right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
At the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved.

Let us know what these tests are and how we can also provide assistance.
