    Hi Ryan,

You can try to reset the DRM licenses and check if the problem persists.

Important: The ResetDRM tool removes all existing Windows Media DRM licenses and licenses of Zune DRM on your current installation of Windows 7. Reset DRM tool should only be used if all Zune DRM and Windows Media DRM content playback does not work. After the following process is finished, you must license the DRM from your Windows 7 computer.

Download the ResetDRM tool and save it to your desktop. To download this file, visit the following Web site:

    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkId=105000

    a. right-click ResetDRM.exe and then click Run as administrator to reset the Windows Media DRM.

    b. read the multimedia file ripped in Windows Media Player 12 for re - test Windows Media DRM.

  • Windows media player: the server is running has no error

    • Network Windows Media streaming settings are corrupt

All errors have been shown to be fixed, and when I tried again to play the music, everything was fine - until I then restarted the pc when the same error "Server execution" appeared.

I removed the WM Center and WM Player, rebooted, reinstalled WMC and WMP and restarted.  This time, when I tried to play a song that I got a very strange message that was clearly not of Microsoft origin "trial expired, buy now or enter your serial number" in a window had.

I ran a full scan MS Essentials without result.

    Codec is missing

Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or can't play the part of the file either audio or video) because theMP3 - codec MPEG Layer III (55) is not installed on your computer.

The missing codec may be available for download on the Internet. For more information about codecs, seeCodecs: frequently asked questions.

    Hello

    1. What is the file type or extension that you try to play?

If you get a message stating that your computer is missing a codec, you are probably trying to play, burn, or sync a file that was compressed by using a codec that does not include Windows or the default player. You will need to download codecs.

  • Windows media player 11 on downloaded videos error "cannot read drive file does not support the file type or does not take in charge the codec used to compress the file.

    • now that the full version of k'lite seems to stop what is happening why hasent windows incorporated something similar in the windows media player 11, or they have another type of codec full, we can use to make this.only so many people have the same problem .please can help you.

    Hi bbdunford,

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file.

You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:

    (a) the file type is supported by the drive, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.

    (b) the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.

Windows media player will play only the files and videos only if it supports this type of file.

    Method 1

Check if the video file format is supported by Windows media player using the link below.

Information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316992

If the files are not supported by Windows media player, then you will need to use a few players from third party that supports this file format.

    Method 2

See the link below for more information on the codec.

    Hi Michaelgdr,

    1. the problem occurs with all videos?
    2. What is the file format of you play it?

I suggest you to reduce hardware acceleration for windows media and (if supported) graphics card player

I suggest you to make Windows Media Player as a default player.

You can also change the hardware acceleration and check.

Try to reduce (or turn off) video hardware acceleration by doing the following

    a. open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, and then, under appearance and personalization, clicking
    Setting screen resolution.

    b. click Advanced settings, click the Troubleshooting tab and then click change settings.

Note that some video card drivers do not allow allows you to change the settings.

    c. move the hardware acceleration slider toward none to reduce or turn off video hardware acceleration.

  • Error in Windows Media Player, Windows Media Player is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled. You want to install the Player from the Microsoft Website

I don't know how or why it happened, but one day to another, WMP won't open. I tried to open an MP3 file, and he says that WMP has not been correctly configured "Windows Media Player is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled. Do you want to install the player from the Microsoft Website? ».

I assumed that since I had to make some updates yesterday, that he was at fault, it had installed an update/new version of WMP and it was either buggy or doesn't work do not, so I went to the Windows updates, but no recent updates on the list had a remote connection with Windows Media Player.

So, I accept the first proposal of the error message, and I'm headed to the Windows Media Player download page on the Microsoft Website. However, the version I should install (which was the one I already had) has Windows Media Player 12 for Windows 7. But this option is locked for me, and as I tried to install it, it says it is not compatible with my system. Not to mention, it's a whole package and not just the WMP installation.

I tried everything and nothing seems to work. It won't even let me uninstall WMP because it won't let me open.

My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. And the error messages that I get to try to launch any WMP feature (the tool, the installation program, no matter what), opens an error window stating that "there is a more recent version of Windows Media (12.0.7601.18150) player already installed on your computer. It is not possible to use and more old (12.0.7601.17514) installation package to install files or repair your current version of the reader. »

Please, I ask for any intervention in this case.

This arises from time to time, but I don't think that there is a difficulty of 100%.

You can try (in no particular order)

    1. uninstall, reboot, reinstall WMP- http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/26107/how-to-reinstall-windows-media-player-in-windows-7-to-solve-problems/ if that doesn't help, try a SFC/scannow check - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
    2. There is this diagnostic tool - http://support2.microsoft.com/mats/windows_media_player_diagnostic/ that can help (from http://support2.microsoft.com/fixit/en-us?wa=wsignin1.0 )
    3. You could try a system restore to a date before the problem occurred to see if that helps - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/system-restore-faq#1TC=windows-7 and see if it gets a WMP work back
    4. Last resort, a repair install - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html
    5. Or just simply forget about WMP and try another party 3rd multimedia player that you can install and uninstall at will, as free VLC - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

But it may be worth waiting a while to see if someone else has a better solution.
