Cannot run the screen saver because it requires a newer video card or one that is compataible with Direct3D.

Hello

I recently rebooted my computer; (Packard Bell) and now cannot run games or screen savers because it does not start. I think my problem has something to do with a Direct3D card? When I run screensavers, I get this message:
Cannot run the screen saver because it requires a newer video card or one that is compataible with Direct3D.
I have the impression that sound when I run the 3D games, such as minecraft or GMOD.
I run on Windows Vista Edition Home Premium and does not do anything but re - install my computer because it wouldn't start.
It is not as if the graphics card is not there, so I'm really confused!
Please help me, like playing games is my favorite thing. ;)
Charlie
I also ran minecraft to double check and I got this error code:
Bad video card drivers!
-----------------------
Minecraft could not start because it did not find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
Generally, this can be corrected by updating the video card drivers.

Hello

After you reinstall the operating system, you should also go to the website of your computer manufacturer > drivers download section > put your computer model number > search for your operating system and drivers (graphics, audio, etc.) > download and install.

See you soon.

    I am running windows 7 ultimate, 64-bit, SP1

The screen savers say they can't run, they need a new video card, or a compatible with direct3d.

I ran the fix.  The issue is pending. Hotfix: KB2159238

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2159238

All of the video drivers are up to date and they support Direct3D.

Seems a lot of people have this issue - how to fix? Yet once again, the fix does not work (says "this update is not applicable to your computer")

    Hello Dave,

    Thank you for your response.

I appreciate your time and your concern.

It is normal that the fix is made for the Windows 7 version without service pack 1.

I hope you can try the following methods provided in the previous post.

However, if the problem persists, I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall display drivers.

    Step 1:
    Uninstall the display driver.

    a. Click Start, type Device Manager in the start search box and press ENTER.
    b. expand 'graphics', right-click on the map and click Uninstall.
    c. restart the computer, if the prompt message.

    Step 2:
Install the latest driver to display from this link:

  • Vista screensaver stopped working because it requires a newer video card or Direct 3D compatibility

Windows Vista Professional Home: The resolution changed by itself, when I restored it to the original setting, the screen saver stopped working because it requires a newer video card or compatibility with Direct 3D. Nothing has changed on my system over the past two years, and everything worked well. That's happened? Why I get this message? Thanks LS

    Thanks for the reply.

Based on your response, it seems that the display driver has been corrupted by a reason, then I suggest you to install the latest display driver. Even if you do not use Direct 3D I recommended to leave the computer updated with the latest drivers that are released by the manufacturer of the computer so that it can run Windows features correctly.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • Windows cannot start the screen saver

I get this message instead of a screen saver... no matter which, I chose. If I go to preview, all he says is that there is "no preview available".

It started this week. I install nothing new at the time it started, at least one week before, and I think it was actually longer than a week.
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2

Thank you! Home at last got to this do and method 1 worked. I could have lived without the screen saver, but I prefer it. Happy to have it work again.

  • Cannot lock the screen saver (zip)

I bought an Ideapad y460p and I don't know how to unlock the screen saver.

The screen saver is that a horizontal zip (from left to right) shows that the screen is locked and a few bubbles go from the bottom of the page top of page. When I press any key press the touchpad, only I hear a sound but the screen will not be unlocked.

    What should I do?

    OK I found it.

When you move the slider from left to right nav, the screen is locked and you see a zip moving from left to right. to unlock it, you must move the nav slode from right to left.

UltraVNC seemed to work very well with win 7, but the only software of remote that I know works without fail and control on a very consistent basis, is the enterprise version of RealVNC. Yes, it costs money, but it is comparable to microsoft RDP, with additional features. They have a free version that does not cost any money and it's missing a few features. In a corporate environment, I am sure that this version is a no no.

    That seems pretty normal.

I don't know how long it will take to isolate the point of failure here in the forums - you can see if MS WGA support can solve the problem without an installation repair or reformatting.

Support of the WGA can be found here-North America: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/cu_sc_genadv_master?ws=support&ws=support#tab4

    Outside of North America:

Please let us know if (and how) MS manage to fix the problem without a BONE repair installation - it would be useful for future reference!

If you want to put here, tehat; s fine by me - me know and I'll do some research and testing.

  • Cannot run the sfc/scannow because of administrator rights

    Hello

Logged in as administrator, I tried to do a sfc/scannow.  I denied my privilege to administrator in normal mode.  So, I disconnected then connected to the Internet in Safe Mode and try from there.  I was able to do the analysis.  I found tons of "Ignore duplicate files" in the CBS. Newspaper.

My first question is, why me I refused the privilege to do the scan in normal Mode using my administrator. privileges?

Second question, which means 'Ignoring duplicate files' and why are there so many of them in convertible bonds. Open a session?  These files are from winsxs, System32, SysWOW64, Program Files and many others.

    I really appreciate your help.

    Hello

the answer to your first question is - you must run CMD (elevated command prompt) as Administrator:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en

Click on start - search box planning CMD and the result a click right on cmd.exe and choose 'run as administrator'.

and here, you can write "sfc/scannow".

And second question - can we copy here a few lines (about 5 lines of error) of the CBS file. OPEN A SESSION?

  • Error messgae: "the screen saver cannot run because it requires a more recent video card", attempting to display the screen saver and the error code 40 download the fix.

Original title: cannot run zip; error code 40 (hotfix for the video card)

Hi, I ' m trying to view my screen saver and it seems to be causing "the screen saver can't run because it requires a newer video card or compatible with 3d graphics." (2030 M-windows7 dell) .thanks Jean-Michel

    Hi John,.

    1. what screen saver are you trying to view?

2 is confined to a specific screen saver?

    3. have you installed SP1 for Windows 7?

This problem occurs because of a problem in 3D screensavers.

Fix error occurs if you have a corrupt hotfix package or may have downloaded the wrong patch for your platform.

This can also occur if the hotfix is included in SP1 and you have already installed Windows 7 SP1.

    Method 1:

You must make sure that the hotfix you download is depending on the version of Windows 7 installed on your computer.

For more information, see the article:

Error message when you set a 3D screen saver screen saver in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2: "the screen saver can't run because it requires a more recent or Direct3D-compatible video card.

Please see if you can copy the file that you downloaded to another computer or location and try to unpack.

When you download the fix, save it in a new location (on the desktop) and the password given with the fix allows to extract the file.

    Method 2:

    Step 1:

You can also try to run the display quality Troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    Step 2:

You too, try to install the latest version of the Site Web of Dell display drivers and check if it helps.

Hope the helps of information. Let us know if you need help with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help you.

  • new video card needs the screen saver

On my new Compaq Presario CQ45-703TUNB when I try to change the screen saver it tells me Ineed new viseo map with thogh 3D, the message is a screen saver

    Hello

According to its characteristics, its video card is not good for 3D, and you can not change the video card on your computer. Also, why do you need screen saver? Did you know that all modern monitors can now go to sleep. Screensaver will force the screen burn its tiny pixels faster so shorten its life and also consumes more electricity.

    I hope this helps.

  • My offices are reorganizing after that the screen saver is running

    Hi all

I encountered a problem with El Capitan that I lived for a while and don't have only recently started to nail.  Every once in a while (and), my virtual workstations will reorganize.  I have three desktops that I keep open at work all the time.  Office 1 has applications assigned to him, and the other two do not.  However, Desktop 2 and 3 office often get switched.  It seems to happen after the screen saver has run for a bit, and as far as I know, I do anything to make it.  I know that you can drag - move desktop to manually reorder, but this is not what is the cause.

Someone would have seen this happen before, and to know what anyone?  Or have I met an unknown problem?

    Thanks for the help!
