Cannot send mail windows modem ATT using windows vista... help please.

I am running windows Vista Home Basic on a Dell laptop.  This laptop is separated from my desktop computer that is hooked up directly with an ATT modem.  When I try to send the email from my laptop at home using windows mail, it is constantly rejected.  I get the error message below...  How can I fix this?

My default email account is optonline.  I do not wish to change this if possible.

I heard that ATT has exclusive news. on how to set up Windows mail to its outgoing mail server, but I was told that I have to pay $30 for technical support get this info.  Who is plan 'B '.

Any ideas?

I have avast antivirus and I have excluded from its list of scan windows Messaging.  If Avast does not problem - should I turn for Windows Mail?

Then #2 you connecting to your existing yahoo mail att online account and adding a no additional TCA / account yahoo that can be checked when they send a message from your e-mail account checking outside...

1. click on options

2. click on more options

3. click on accounts

4. save your desired email account not att with yahoo.

    If you use the right name and the password, this should be a temporary problem.

    Some email accounts block a device for a period of time when it is trying to connect too often, even with the correct login data. This is for security reasons. I GMX here in Germany, and pressing the button receive by post 20 or 30 times in a row will lock the account for a few minutes. the same thing happens with a bad and unstable network connection: lose them and restore the connection, the device tries to connect too often.

    We have problems with our Windows Live Mail. We could no longer send an email as soon as there is an unsent mail stuck in the Outbox.

    Here's the scenario:

    -the network connection was cut when sending e-mail process is underway
    -After the connection has been restored, we opened/edited the mail on hold is located in the Outbox, and then send.

    Result: the mail will not be sent. When you click on the "Send/receive" button, the status bar freezes.

    When we try to stop/exit the Windows Live Mail, the display is closed.
    But the process (wmail.exe) and the taskbar icon will not be closed.

    Password and username are all correct. POP and SMTP everything is correct. If I remove all virus blocker, always get Windows security pop up asking for password and username; I type in it and click on the option to remember, but the window appears several times without sending a message. Error message box is empty.
    No problem on the end of e-mail servers. Equipped with Windows Vista.
    I deleted the Windows Mail disabled account, rebooted with the new account and the same problem.
    Can I receive the mail, but Windows Security blocking my attempts to send and don't remember the password and username that I type.
    Help!

    This kind of behavior is very often due to antivirus.  You are using.  If its McAfee or Norton get rid of them completely.   There are others who are also incompatible.  Everything you try, make sure that the analysis of e-mail is disabled.   You can also try to repair the database and see if that helps (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).  And see also www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

    This symptom may be caused by the interference of an antivirus program. What antivirus do you use? Some of them are causing problems with Windows Mail over time. At a minimum, email, scanning in the antivirus must be turned off, although maybe it's not enough to eliminate all the bad effects. In the worst case scenario, your antivirus program may be uninstalled/reinstalled or replaced.
     
    E-mail analysis in any antivirus must be disabled, for the reasons explained here:
     
    As an alternative to the replacement of your antivirus, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering from the ill effects of too intrusive antivirus programs:

    I have a Dell XPS computer laptop model PP28L and run Vista Home Premium. When I bought the computer I bought in a pawn shop. Of course it was sold with no records at all. No recovery or restore of Windows disks. I have a valid Microsoft "proof of License'for my Vista Home Premium. Should I be reinstall Windows and if yes how I'd get the disks.

    Your only option is to do a clean install of Vista.  There is no free, download of the disk.  Contact the manufacturer of the computer and they may be willing to sell you a set of recovery disks to reinstall the system (but you will need 23 digit product key to activate it in all probability even if sometimes it is not necessary when it is made with recovery on the same computer discs).

    Here is Microsoft's policy on software lost: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246 you can see is not much help.

    If you can borrow an installation disk of Vista genuine of the same size of the bit of ANYONE, you can use that with your product key to re - install the system and start over (you get a new administrator account and set your own password for him - or to leave empty that you choose).

    Click on Start >
    Type in CMD > 
    Right-click on the result, and then click on run as administrator >
    Then type sfc/scannow , and then press ENTER.
    Reboot your PC and try it a few times.

    Download and install the update tool of the system for Vista (Windows Update hotfix)
