Cannot start Windows XP Home edition as usual

The other day I was on my laptop and accidentally, I pressed the button, turn to and went the entire computer. I went to turn on the laptop when a message came saying "your computer has not been extinguished shut down properly etc.." There is a list that I could take
-Safe Mode
-Safe Mode networking
-Safe Mode (don't remember what the other said)

Then there was the start in normal window. So I cliked and it came as he just turned on and the XP loading bar upstairs as when you turn on your computer and it keeps staying like that. Just the Windows XP and the bar under run through all its loading.

Let him like that for nearly an hour and no different when I came back to the laptop. I also tried yesterday it turn on and off and today. The computer will not come. I'm now in Mode without failure.

Can someone tell me please how I can solve this problem?

See you soon
Jordan

Have you installed/updated a driver/software before that? You should uninstall in safe mode and try again.

If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated!

My brother has problems with his laptop - I don't know what model exactly, but it was only bought last November and has not been used that - it's not only recently even had installed on internet!
It is only 14 - and I think that's how it was broken...

He downloaded the new version of iTunes for its new iPod touch. It was good and work fine. Then, he saw a DVD on his laptop computer, from this point on that he has failed the next time he turned...

The Windows startup screen is entered as usual, but nothing, just a black screen. He kept this over and over again. Then a screen comes say he met a problem or something. And these guests:

    Run in safe mode
Run the prompt command (or something)
Execution of the last known good configuration.
    There was something else, too.

So, I tried to run from the last good config. We found a date that he remembered and tried to run from there. This new, just did nothing. A black screen is empty.
Thus so we tried safe mode because there was a small guest saying something about editing a file, but we didn t know what devil do!
    (My apologies for the buzz...)

So, basically, my brother took on himself to try and restore the system - without me! I'm afraid he did it wrong and now it's even worse!
He did the unpacking, etc. Once that was done he apparently "did nothing" again. It lacks a screen saying 'ntdl' or something?
He did restore 5 times more that could have been the wrong thing to do?

But once again, nothing. Just a stupid screen saying the ntdl or anything that is missing. In the manual of the laptop, he said there may be some repairs done with the installation disc - but the phone didn t comes with an and the system doesn't restore disc to tell...

I'm really sorry if this makes no sense. But could someone please try and help?
    Thank you

    Hello

According to your message, you have done all that is possible to get the windows running.
But it s very strange that you have received the laptop without the Toshiba Recovery CD. Wait a minute you have a Toshiba laptop?

In any case my opinion is not much to do apart from a fresh install of the OS
You should really try to do!

    > But once again, nothing. Just a ridiculous screen saying the ntdl or anything that is missing
The error message ntdl is missing is known to me. I found some discussions on this error message.

  • Cannot get Windows XP Home Edition for a mapped network drive / share on a computer of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

I constantly tried to use the "NET USE" syntax to get a Windows XP Home system to keep & share mapped network drive on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit of the system and nothing I tried or worked on ANY blog. I can map the current network through made normal drive right click on 'My computer' and then provide a designation of drive letter with the correct path and have had great success using the function "connect using a different user name." However, even with the box checked to re-connect to the opening of the service is WORTHLESS! I made a lot of attempts to use the Net use syntax to create a batch file to overcome this non-functional raw application. I would really appreciate someone who actually had this issue resolved and work. I have looked at all the Windows files on the XP machine, searched the registry about a possible switch, which could make the necessary changes and have made all necessary changes on the Windows 7 system to accept the mapped network share. Help!

    Hello

Since you have a network with different OS' I hope that Win 7 is configured to run on asnetwork work.

If evry thing is configured properly it can be a problem of how your router keep information network. With the help of Staic DHCP or IP static on computers could help solve the problem.

Just in case you need to reconfigure your network.

    ---------------

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall isactive .

Since you have a network with Win 7 and the other version of Windows, you must configure Windows 7 as work network.

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.

    Hello

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

I formatted the HARD drive a few times but nothing helped... I don't have a system recovery disk and I tried already with integrating the driver configuration via nLite.

I had bought a new larger hard drive (40 GB, as opposed to the old 6 GB one) but impossible to install windows on it because I can not install from the CD. Even if I already downloaded of the Setup files from disk, I need to finish the process of the XP install disk, but I can't.

I don't know what parameters in the BIOS you want to change for your optical drive. How are you optical drive connected to your laptop, it is USB or built in?

  • Windows XP Home Edition has lost drive of installation and CD Key - cannot repair windows (damaged WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM file)

I can't start Windows XP Home Edition at all - everything I try to do using the Advanced Options results in the same error message screen (Windows is not start because the following file is missing or corrupt...). I can't do a repair installation because my friend who has built my computer and installed my operating system lost the disc to install Windows XP Home Edition and the CD Key, I ordered. I can't find anyone else who has their record.

Is there a way I can fix the system without the authentic installation disk files? If not, is there a way I can receive a free/good Windows installation disc market replacement of Microsoft? Also, I don't want to lose any documents on my computer in the process.

    Thanks for the help!

Have you tried 'XP No Boot troubleshooting steps' sticky post at the top of this forum?

As this issues happens several times a day and your system falls into any category to start, why not start there and see if that helps?

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes pulling and buttons power)

These can cause corruption in the file system that must be fixed before you do anything else.

If none of these events occurred (or even if they have not taken place), you must verify the integrity of your file system before anything else (especially "try" things).

There is zero logic to start try to copy files to a hard drive with a corrupted file system so it must first be fixed using the XP chkdsk program and setting that may solve your problem completely, but you must start there.

Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your HARD drive and fix the problems and then try to start your system - this may be all you need to do.  Or, you are welcome to just start trying things that might work.

Start the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD or create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.  If you don't know what kind of bootable CD, you, do a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console and do not forget.

You can create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console when no XP CD is available by following the instructions in this link:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic276527.html

After booting into the Recovery Console, you should be in this folder:

    C:\WINDOWS

For each of your hard disk partitions, you must then run:

    Chkdsk /r

For example, at the Recovery Console prompt, enter:

    CHKDSK c: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.  It may take a long time to complete or seem to be 'glued '.  Be patient.  If the HARD drive light flashes, it's something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

The chkdsk/r must be completed without error, you may need to run several times until it does.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

  • Cannot format disc disc HARD NTFS - Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3

Hi, I hope someone can help me to solve this problem, because it drives me crazy. I have Dell Inspiron 4500 which HDD is running out of space. There was also a problem with the disc essentially installed 2 new 1 x 120 GB Maxtor hard drives and 1 x 320 GB Hitachi. I installed Windows XP Home Edition on the Maxtor from scratch and load all the drivers and patches, etc... However whenever I try to put in place the Hitachi under NTFS, it falls on the formatting. If I use third-party tools all right until you try to access it through windows, then I get "cannot access the disk, the files are corrupted or damaged. In windows Disk Manager, you can see the drive, but the file system is empty. I can take out the drive and set up on my other machine without problem. I can set up the correct disk in FAT32? If I then try to CONVERT, switch again.

Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind rgds

    Hello Maver1ck63,

Thank you for your message.  You have the jumpers physics master/slave accordingly?  Otherwise, the value OS hard drive (Maxtor) to the master and your Hitachi to the slave.  After a reboot, your system recognizes this drive in 'my computer '?  If so, can you right click and format the drive?  (Keep in mind, the formatting will erase all data on the disk, you will need to back up any important information before formatting).  If you cannot access or recognize this drive:
Click 'Start' > right click on 'My computer' > select 'manage '.
    Click on "disk management".
Do you think your player, you can get in shape from here (or assign a drive letter if it is not recognized in my computer)?

  • Cannot install game or applications in Windows 7 Home Edition computer.

Original title: Windows Installer problems - Windows 7 Home Edition.

I am running Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit. I tried to install a game last night and at the start of the installer it disappears from the screen and I find myself with an icon in my taskbar tasks that wont open. Sometimes, if I'm lucky and let him go, he will open full screen and allow me to continue with the installation. I thought maybe it was just the game that I was installing. So I tried to install something else non-related and it appears the installer, but the bar never moves. I try to shut it down and he even used close. It will cancel, but even after I cancel, Setup is still used in the process. I've looked everywhere and cannot find a solution to this problem.

I tried unsubscribing msiexec and re-enrollment it and no luck
