Cannot use ANY program on computer.

On another computer, I upgraded to win 7 Pro (64 bit) home with the express purpose of restricting access to certain programs. As the administrator, I used gpedit.msc and gives access to the programs as a test. I had assumed that the admin I have access to all programs. However, I can access anything. I get "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. "Please contact your system administrator." all programs I've tried. So far, the only thing I managed to start is regedit, as long I have start in SafeMode (command prompt only). Until I have an idea of what to change in the registry, it really doesn't help me. I activated the hidden administrator by entering: "net user administrator / Active: Yes", hoping that I could repair the damage in gpedit. This account has had no effect and got the same message.

In gpedit: Local computer local\Configuration Templates\System\Run ordinateur\modeles specify only the Windows Applications. I was trying to restrict access to certain programs. I followed the advice of "http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/8739/restrict-users-to-run-only-specified-programs-in-windows-7/", I added a program to the list of allowed applications to test to see if this is the path I should take to set up this computer.

It may be that I have to restart with a cd bootable or usb. If this is the case can I use one of my computers of working files to make a bootable cd / usb? The machine with the problem don't let me even back copy orders. At the moment, the machine is more useful as an expensive paper weight. For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It seems that if you never took the time to record a CD to repair Windows. It is absolutely essential to have such a CD if you decide to do maintenance on your own PC. It takes only three minutes to burn a via the control panel / backup and restore. Now, you have these options:

  • Burn it on another computer.
  • Borrow one from a friend.
  • Purchase one here: http://systemdiscs.com/
When you have one, use it to start your machine in Windows Repair Mode, and then use system restore to restore Windows to a point before the application of the disastrous policy changes.

  • Cannot install any program or make any change on my standard account

    Hello

So I recently reinstalled my Windows, the installation was not made by me. This person created one account we'll call user for simplicity, giving him Admin privileges.

When I noticed it, I created another Admin account and demoted user a standard account. But now, when I tried to install any program, I have some sort of error: "unable to write to the file...". ", I also tried to delete a random file/shortcut and got some kind of error saying that the system is allowed to do this.

Is there a way to fix this?

I had rather not my experience of user account with administrative privileges for obvious reason. What I want is just having the system queries the user the Admin password when you install a program, at least, to have access to what is in the directory of the user.

Thank you for reading this and help me

    Nelson___

    Hello Nelson.

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description, you can not install any program or cannot make changes on your system.

An administrator account is a user account which allows you to make changes that will affect other users. Administrators can change security settings, install software and hardware, and access all files on the computer. Administrators can also make changes to other user accounts.

As you have an administrator account on your system. I suggest you follow the steps below and check if it helps:

    1. right click on the Start button and select (Admin) command prompt.

    2. on the command line type: net user administrator / Active: Yes and press enter on your keyboard.

This will allow your construction in the administrator account. Restart your computer and log in with the administrator account. Once you are in the Build in Administrator account, you can change the type of original Standard user to administrator account administrator and save it.

Once you have made the changes successfully, the Build in administrator to disable the account by following the steps below:

    1. right click on the Start button and select (admin) command prompt.

    2. on the command line type: net user administrator / Active: no and press enter on your keyboard.

This will disable the build in the administrator account. Restart and log in with your user account.

Hope the above information has been useful. If you need assistance, please let us know and we would be happy to help you.

It is possible that you have apps which unknown to you, that run automatically in the background whenever you start your program. It is good to check if they are legitimate and necessary to launch when you start your PC.

Start button, click on you. In the run box, type: msconfig.exe

A System Configuration tool runs. Go to the Startup tab. You will find a list of applications that are set to run every time your PC starts. If you recognize all of them, use Google to help identify their purpose. Many times, you can open the application that is in question and prevent the application from starting. For example, on my system, I see that Java runs once more a verification tool to update each time you start. In this case, I can set my preferences Java Panel, select Java and uncheck automatically search for updates.

I also use OpenOffice and it wants to run a startup of service to reduce the time that openoffice requires to open. I don't really want something constantly running in the background to save me a few seconds to open the application. Then I go to Google to find out where the switch is to disable this "feature".

If you have unwanted applications running in the background, it is best to either uninstall, our to disable the option that allows them to run at startup. Although you could definitely "uncheck" the application through msconfig.exe, it is essentially a tool of troubleshoouting and not intended for the struggle of the apps (even if you do).

You can always uncheck/check again on this list to see their impact when you then restart your PC.

Once you have verified that apps that are set to start, you can run Windows Task Manager and scroll elements in the process and Services tabs to see what is running. The Services tab can be pretty intimidating to investigate on (there is a lot of misinformation the ' net), so if you are unsure about the services listed, it is best to ask or to jump on this area.

  • Cannot open any programs, I think that somehow the files have been changed to .lnk files

Original title: I'm unable to open programs in my Start Menu.

When I click on an item in the beginning, all programs selection and click it, instead of opening, I get the name of the program, for example Microsoft Works... LNK and that's all I get the program never opens.  I think somehow that the files have been changed to .lnk files but do not know how it happened

This happened for several months and I'm sure that there is an easy solution to return to what it was but don't know what.  I tried the system restore, but that did nothing and don't know what to do next.  Any ideas?  Thank you... betseyd112

.. .UAC not OPEN cannot open unless you run as administrator programs.  IE9 IS NOT ONLY IS NOT OPEN

    Hi ionpetcu,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         You get the error message?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software .

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Disable user account control and check.

Enable or disable the User Account Control

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-user-account-control-on-or-off

Note: User Account Control (UAC) can help you to prevent your computer from unauthorized changes. It works by asking permission when a task requires administrative rights, such as installing software or changing settings affecting other users.

Method 3: If the problem persists, create a new administrator user account.

    Create a user account

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/create-a-user-account

If the problem is resolved in a new user account, and then follow the article on how to fix a corrupted user account.

  • Windows Explorer, only the smaller boxes, not open every time. Cannot open any programs.

I try to open programs, such as "Backup and restore", but when the window opens, it immediately says "Windows Explorer has stopped working.  Windows is checking for a solution to the program. "We are trying to revive, on which the entire screen becomes black for a moment and then returns to normal.  It's very well with Internet Explorer, email recovery, etc.  But I think that my computer is looking at an imminent death - HELP!

    Hello FaithBrianne,

Often, we see crashes and other strange behavior as the result of a program from loading at startup.

To solve these, we use the clean boot troubleshooting.

The following article describes this process:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
