  It turns out that it is indeed possible to what I wanted to do.

  I had a contact with HP customer service, and I tried many things. Restart the pc, download the drivers, nothing seems to work. The guy said I had to reinstall windows, and the screen was fine still... Here, there was a simpeler for this solution, but I'm glad that my screen is normal now.

• Tecra M7: Unable to set the screen resolution to 1680 x 1050 on external screen

  I have a M7 and a 1680 x 1050 VX2025 viewsonic monitor.
  I can't set the resolution for external display in clone mode or dual mode.
  Infact I can not get any resolution of the screen to exit the M7.

  I tried this in Windows XP and Vista with drivers from the toshiba Web site.

  Any ideas on how to force this resolution?

  Are you sure that the graphics card supports this high resolution!
  If all goes well it s not a material limitation

  But especially if the display resolution is not available the graphics card driver does not support this resolution of the screen.
  In this case only the new driver installation and usage help

  What graphics card is installed on your laptop? Graphic chip Intel?
  If you use an Intel graphics card, then I recommend to visit the Intel page and search for a compatible driver on this page. Some users here in the forum said that the Intel drivers could help choose the preferred resolution.

  First of all, you don't want to do the hardware updates through the Microsoft Update Website.

  Secondly, there are a couple ways you can do this:

  1. go in the Device Manager (start > Control Panel > administrative tools > computer management > Device Manager).    tedious, but this way you are sure.

  Double-click each item, having developed each sign, select the driver tab and choose Update driver, let windows search automatically, make sure that you are connected to the internet.  Do this for each item that you want to search for updated drivers.

  2. go in the manufacturer's website. For example, I use a Dell Dimension and move the driver Dell downloads Web site.

  If you mean hardware upgrade from Microsoft (not Windows which is software) you would search Microsoft.com site for driver downloads.

• How do I set the screen window size in a guest LinuxMint17 (WS7)?

  I am always on WorkStation 7 (last revision) because I discovered that after installing the update I bought I would be able to use 7 and I need that for some of my virtual machines...

  Anyway, now I need to test some features of Web server and need a KDE LinuxMint17 machine for this.

  Installation went well and I also installed the virtual machine; Tools of dishes without problem.

  As part of the installation, I put the size of the screen for the guest to 1024 x 768 in the properties of the VM.

  Then I could install the basic software that I need the terminal of the virtual machine.

  I'm working on a portfolio where I placed the chapters of my current document in articles.

  Within each article is several pages. I can scroll down through these pages and drag them between articles, but ideally, I would like to be able to scroll using the right side of the screen. (just a small column width).

  On some pages, I have great frames scrollables, centered on the page and when through the images of the user accidentally scrolled upwards or downwards.

  There is a way to use invisible to take away horizontal scan slide shows, but I cannot think of a good way to take away from vertical scan. I suppose you could create a large invisible frame with scrolling to the left of your bar navigation and behind the other recoveries (including other scrollables managers). It would now take vertical actions drag everywhere on the page except for the small column to the right. You might want to give that a try, but it seems that a lot of extra work for minimal gain. If you post an example of what you're trying to do, we might be able to help find you a different approach.

  You're probably not using the correct resolution, IE: you use a display standard aspect ratio when you have a widescreen monitor. This can be corrected in the settings/personalize/display of the Control Panel, adjust the slider to resolution here.

  Your description is not very clear, are the main steps to configure your display:

  -Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card & monitor installed Windows 7 .

  -Search in the manual of your monitor and find out what the native resolution & refresh rate are for example (1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz), then go to:

  Start-> Control Panel-> display

  and together that view you these settings.

  -If you have black borders around your screen, you should increase the size of your screen through the software installed normally with your graphics card. For a basic card ATI look for a feature called overscan/underscan. Look for the option to increase the size of the desktop in the nVidia Control Panel for nVidia cards. For othe graphics cards check support manual/website for advice.
