Cannot use recovery media - bad machine - Satellite A55-S106

Hello

My laptop recently got the blue screen of death and had to reformat my laptop. I jumped the drive and much to my surprise he told me bad machine
even if it's the drive that came with it when I bought it. Now I don't know what to do any suggestions?

As said by Feliks, look on the Toshiba site.

In this bulletin to support there is a solution for this problem. You must restore the credentials of your model (DMI channels) so you can restore the factory software.

If you cannot use this contact Arvato to order it, explain the situation and ask if you can get a new one. I can't say for sure what the problem is, but I can imagine that this recovery disk is troublemaker.

    Hello buddy

It is badly located now. Please try to do it once more.
If the same thing happen there is nothing you can do. I'm not an expert for this kind of thing, but I noticed the image recovery recovery DVD will be copied to the HARD second partition disk) first and then the installation of recovery will go from there.

If the adaptation procedure is not done on the recovery of end procedure cannot be started.
Sorry buddy. In my opinion, you can try to contact the nearest authorized maintainer and explain the situation. Take the DVD created as evidence and maybe they will order new media for free.

  • Cannot use Recovery for my laptop Satellite A series

    Hello

I have a series of satellites A. Recently, it started to freeze on the boot process and I could get in mode Safe Mode command.
Now, I can't even reach that point.

When I get the F8, the only options I get are Startup Repair which freezes and on normal startup, I get an unmountable volume error.
I tried to last good Config known with no luck. Memory Diags reveal no error.

Now, when I use the drive recovery process begins very well, gets past step "Windows loading files. No scrolling screen of the Microsoft logo.
When I get to the dark blank screen with arrow, he never leaves the screen and moves to the next step.
How long should I wait to reach the next screen or not?

Now, I understand that it is possible to boot and do Startup Repair starting from a Vista DVD.
Where to get or make one of these? I use a desktop Windows 98 computer to submit this.

At the very least, how do my files to be able to save them in case I need to reinstall Vista?

    All advice appreciated!

    George

To me, it sounds like a defective HARD drive, maybe. You said that you have tested the RAM, what program did you use?
I can recommend Memtest86 and HARD drive, you should test using the fitness Test drive as Akuma said. I have good experiences with these two test tools.

For the moment, you can back up your files if you put the HARD drive into an external HARD drive enclosure. I put t know what Satellite phone you have exactly, but the external HARD disk enclosure must have a SATA or IDE connector and should be compatible laptop HDD s (2.5).
Then you can save your files to another laptop or PC.

  • Cannot use Recovery CD XP for Satellite M70 168

    Hello

I can't install XP Home with Toshiba Recovery CD for my m70-168.
I did two years ago, but now it is impossible.

I followed the instructions of the user manual. Initially, the system displays the loaded modules followed by a recovery utility menu
There are 3 options 1-Normal 2 - custom installation - 9 altogether. But it is impossible to select one of them.
CTRL-Alt-Del works only, then windows starts normally. Since the last restoration, memory has been upgrded to 2 GB.

I have the same problem using my restore CD backup copy.

    Thanks for your help

Hmm sounds really weird I mean if the copy of the recovery disk is not working too, I doubt that this could be a problem of recovery disk. But nothing is impossible

Maybe you should check to ensure that the problem is not related to floppy disks to install.

  • Re-install Windows 7 using recovery media (DVD)

    Laptop: HP-430 Notebook

    OS: Windows 7 (64-bit)

    HARD DRIVE: THE 298 GB

When I bought recently my laptop HP-430, I partitioned new HARD drive using some other third party software. I created an additional partition (M:\). Here's the info, how I've repartitioned...

    C:\ - 100 GB (changed from 284 GB to 100 GB).

D:\ - have not made any changes.

    M:\ - 184 GB (created a drive by myself).

Then after a few days of testing purpose I thought using the Recovery Manager. So I run the Setup and chose the first option (System Restore) who says he will only reformat the drive (C:\) system and will not issue any other HARD disk changes. But to my surprise it deleted/reformatted the HARD full disc, and I lost all my documents, music, photos and all my important files, I recorded/saved on M:\ (that I had created...)

Can someone tell me why the hack happened...?

So now, next point. After that the Recovery Manager has restored the operating system, I repartitioned again, but this time with the Windows disk management tool. But the Windows disk management does not shrink (resize) the C:\(Systemdrive) of less than 150 GB. So I resized C:\ to 150 GB of GB 284 and created a player more (M:\) 147 GB size. And I deleted the recovery disc (D:\), but I created the recovery DVD before you remove the Recoevery of my HARD disk drive.

Now its time for me to reinstall Windows 7 using recovery media, I messed with some system files when installing a theme for Windows 7 and now my OS is completely unstable. So now I want to reinstall windows 7, but I do not understand what option selected in the Recovery Manager (when run from Recovery DVD)

Options displayed in the Recovery Manager

    1 collect using Microsoft Recovery

2 recovery system (the option that I had chosen for the first time and got all the stuff removed)... He said that he only reinstalls the OS and custom make any other change of HARD drive.

    3 minimized Image Recovery

    4. factory Reset.

So now my question to you guys, it's what option do I have selected in the Recovery Manager so that all my saved content and my stuff on M:\ (I created) will not be removed... and the operating system is reinstalled.

    PLIZZZZZ HELPPPPPPPPPPPP...

    Hello

I don't think that all the disk recovery options will keep your partition custom - as far as I know, the only time where you will receive a prompt to keep a custom partition when you use the option "Recovery of Image is reduced to a minimum" to the recovery Partition D that you deleted.

You can try the following workaround.

Download the good Image of disk Windows 7 from the link below: it must be exactly the same version your OEM Setup - that is to say if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to the version, you must download.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.

Use the disk that you create to perform the installation - when you get to the option to choose the installation type, choose custom and select the C partition.

When asked, enter the activation key Windows located on the underside of your laptop, then when the installation is complete use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just that a new installation of Windows 7 without software load additional normally bundled with OEM installations.

Additional drivers, you may need to find from here.

  • Satellite A55-S106 does not recognize the 160 GB HARD drive

I replaced the 60 GB IDE HDD in my laptop Toshiba Satellite A55-S106 with a 160 GB one of Western Digital.

I've restored a Ghost 10 image to the new drive on a hard disk external. The computer still recognizes only 60 GB. Belarc and HD Tune to see a 160 GB drive, but show the volumes as being only 60 GB.

Disk management Windows show 93,16 GB as unallocated.
I am running Windows XP SP3.

Someone at - it ideas? The BIOS can be crippled somehow? I can't find anything in the BIOS that seems to address hard drive size.

I started directly on the Ghost recovery CD after installing the new drive. Should I have formatted, it firstly somehow? Here I used the original recovery CD to recover everything first and then restored the Ghost image?

I put a 160 GB drive in an old 1999 Dell desktop running Windows 98 and no problems like that. It is hard to believe that a laptop from 2005 would have this problem. It is, however, my first attempt at using a version of Ghost Windows hard drive recovery.

    > I started directly on the Ghost recovery CD after installing the new drive. Should I have formatted, it firstly somehow?

Yes, I suppose the HARD drive was not formatted in NTFS file format.
This is why I would recommend booting from original Toshiba Recovery CD and then check if the HARD drive has been recognized correctly!

    Please check first!

    Hello

Have you used a compatible HDD and supported?
A bit of problems of recovery happens sometimes due to hard drives not supported.

In any case, in my experience, new hard disks must be formatted too.
The Toshiba Recovery CD contains only an image file and I would recommend formatting the HARD drive, first with the help of another like WinXP or Linux bootable CD...

    Can u please help me.
If I had the factory installed default windows vista, then how to create the recovery disk and can also create usb recovery drive, while I was able to boot my system with usb?

And also if I m even have another model of machine, then I can use the recovery disk in the other machine with the same model and OS. ???
as for now, I have two same machines toshiba Satellite L300-190 model.

    Waiting for your response.

I think that this has been discussed much time here in the forum.

You can create the recovery disk using the Toshiba recovery disc creator!
This tool must be preinstalled on your laptop if the laptop was equipped with HARD drive recovery option.

You can also try to restore the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive option.
You must press the F8 key during switching on laptop and I then have to choose the option called fix my computer. Then new window should open, and you could choose the Toshiba recovery.

If you cannot use the two procedures (disk recovery HARD and Toshibas recovery disk) then you can order the new CD from here:

  • Cannot create recovery media after installing the SSD on Pavilion TS 11-e100

    Hello

I just replaced the SSD HARD drive and tried to make a USB support of recovery through 8.1 recovery utility. The process takes strangely little time, but finishes normally have reported that the media are created. The size of all the files on the flash is about 200 MB. When I made the same support with disk size was 12 GB. I tried to start with than flash and it failed with a message on a damaged or similar medium. I always thought that windows does not take into account the physical structure of the disc and can not understand what is happening and what to do.

    Hello

I use HP Recovery manager to create a recovery media for my machine ready and my wife. I use another software to clone HARD disks for other machines after any big change for example after moving from Windows 8 to 8.1, I create a clone which means I can't do it again, simply restore it back. Use a software called O & O DiskImage clone but the following free software can do the job:

PS I tested once the 3rd software, it's ok

  • Re: Using Recovery Disk with portable Satellite

This laptop seems to have a virus that passes without being detected by Windows Defender and Avast.
After about 10 minutes, everything slows down, and sometimes the screen turns off. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes to make something happen.

So I figure it of time to use the recovery discs that I did when I bought the computer - about a year ago. I thought that by putting the recovery drive #1 DVD in the drive and reboot it would start automatically (Windows Vista). But nothing happens. So, how can I reload the operating system from the recovery disk?

Best Buy wants $200 to do, but I would do it myself. Help!

    Hello

    It is easy to do:

Start your laptop and press the F12 key repeatedly Boot Menu will appear
Put recovery media in the optical disc drive
With the help of the arrows (UP/DOWN) select the CD-ROM drive, and then press ENTER
Installation will start and please just follow the menu on the screen.

Please let us know if everything was OK.
