Cannot use Windows Update (error number: 0x8024D001)

Hello

I just do a fresh install of Windows XP Pro 32-bit w/SP3 on a Dell Precision M90. I installed all the device drivers and then when I try to get the Windows Update I get the following error after that it checks the version of the update:

"The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below may help you solve the problem. »

"[Error number: 0x8024D001].

I tried to reinstall Windows, this has not solved the problem.

I also tried to install one of the versions of Windows Update, here:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/WindowsUpdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe
.. who made no difference.

I also tried the Microsoft Fix It here:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949104
.. who has not solved the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try the next Windows Update informal Agent. MS last isn't the last. Boo Ms.

Download WindowsUpdateAgent7.6.7600.256 - 257.zip to your desktop (MS does not have the latest version of Windows Update Agent. Only 7.4.7600.243 so make us with this). (The moderator Edit: or this, for those who are reluctant to download things on non-Microsoft Web sites.)

Unzip it, go to the folder and double-click RunMe - MakeInstallWindowsUpdateAgent.bat.

It will download, MS, the files needed to create the Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.256/257 and then install it.
You will be left with the installer, WindowsUpdateAgent7.6.7600.256 - 257.exe. Keep or delete. Your choice.

System Restore will probably not solve the problem at this stage. Unfortunately, you will need to get their hands on your system manufacturer and ask for a replacement disc from them.

  • Cannot use Windows Update - KB982132 and KB972270 fail to install, error 0x800A0007

I can't using Windows Update for two 'critical updates of security". I got anumber of error messages, but the last was 0x800A0007. This is nowhere on their support pages. Can someone suggest a possible solution?  (If I can solve this problem, I can get IE9 fixing.) With the help of Windows XP Edition family

The two KB982132 and KB972270 updates failed to install (twice) with error message that appears now is no longer on the 0x8007001F support page.

Since that time when I get to "check your computer for Updates" page fails to display and code error 0x800A0007, which also appears nowhere.

I'm sorry to tell you that your only recourse now formats the hard drive & then by doing a new installation of Windows. [1]
