Cannot zip (compress) files sent to

I am running Win 7 64 bit and send it to the option of zip (compression) files have disappeared. I ran ' sfc/scannow' and some not found errors. The file is located in 'C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo' type 'ZFSENDTOTARGET. I have to do something in the file Associations? Also, send it to the option of 'My documents' and 'MailTo' disappeared, but the files are there also with the same type of file. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • How can zip compressed file - I add a password?

In Windows XP, it was possible to send a file to the compressed folder, and then in the folder go to file, add password and password protect. In Windows 7, the option to add password is no longer available, how a password can be added in the zip file?

The ability to natively password - protect a zipped file was removed from Vista and Windows 7. Don't ask me why; I have no idea. If you want to protect a zipped file, you will need to get third-party compression software that supports this. WinZip can do but is commercial. Possibly 7Zip can do and this program is free. • When I download compressed files, they go to the local > temp location, when I extracted all the files, they are sent to the My Documents folder. Can I go to the local > temp location and delete the zip file?

When I download compressed files, they go to the local level > temp location, when I extracted all the files, they are sent to the My Documents folder. Can I go to local > temp location and delete the zip file? Knowing that I still have the data in the My Documents folder.

Once they are checked, of course. If you want to keep a backup, you can move the zip file in your documents folder.

In fact, you can delete everything in the temporary folder that is not currently in use. Best time to do this removal is immediately after the start, before launching other applications.

Which app to use to compress files and folders?

Compressed (zipped) folder icon is present in each user's profile as well as in the default user profile. Follow these steps to restore the icon for your user account:

    a. Click Start, type the following command and press ENTER:

    %SystemDrive%\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo

    b. click Compressed (zipped) folder and choose copy (shortcut: CTRL + C)

    c. open the SendTo in your user profile folder. To do this, click Start, type the following command and press ENTER:

    Shell: sendto

    d. right click on a box empty in the folder and choose Paste (shortcut: CTRL + V)

You can also try to download and install the same software or application that allows you to compress files and folders and check if it helps.

Reference Dell restored my laptop to factory - cannot find the compressed files [ZIP]

    Hello

    Where records have been saved?

A restore to factory wipe the hard clean throughout the process. The only option you have is to use a recovery program to recover files deleted from your hard drive. But I doubt if this will help. If the files were very important, then you can give it a try. Search using your favorite search engine to learn more about third-party data recovery programs.

  • 7-zip rar files vs. compressed files?

My question is this. What is the difference between the 7-zip rar files and when I use the selection of compressed file (zipped) on a file? What is the rar files?

I rarely send zipped files. I used to have WinZip on my old computer. My generic desktop minitower PC has XP Pro, SP3, Office 2003. (In addition, awhile back I upgraded to Office 2007 but found totally lame and went back to 2003). A few reciepents some PDF files of architectural plan say they can not open my files when I send them with 7-zip. Sometimes it is 30-60 page pdf construction plans.

    Please explain.

It depends on what you mean by "better"?

I'm looking for a file compression utility that can work with various compressed formats.
Are you willing to pay for a file compression utility, or do you want a free?
Looking for a file compression utility that makes smaller files?

In the end, it basically boils down to personal preference.  Here is a site that claims to have received "more than 500 comments" in order to select the most popular file compression utility: http://lifehacker.com/5065324/five-best-file-compression-tools

And, if you are interested in self-promotion, here's how 7-zip compares its ability to file with some other compression: http://www.7-zip.org/

Personally, I'd go with free rather than pay $29 for WinRAR, WinZip or PKZip.  For most people, the ability to built into Windows zip file is sufficient.  If you are likely to get files compressed in a variety of formats, 7-zip is probably the way to go (packing / unpacking: 7z, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP, and WIM;) Unpacking only: ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DEB, DMG, FAT, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MBR, MSI, NSIS, NTFS, RAR, RPM, SquashFS, UDF, VHD, WIM, XAR and Z).

  • Error: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player can not support the Codec that was used to compress the file, MP3 downloads will not play

Original title: MP3 downloads don't play no not on WMP

My Windows Media Player recently stopped playing downloads from Amazon. I've never had this problem before. I installed VLC Player, has not worked... off the WMP in the Windows app, restarted, turned on the back and restarted... did not help. I get the message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player may not support the Codec used to compress the file. This is for multiple downloads, so I don't think they would be all corrupted files.

  • Error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file' when try to play wav or midi files.

Original title: WMP "can't play wav or midi.

Using WMP 11 on Windows XP SP3.

Windows Media Player has somehow forgotten how to play wav or midi files. Doubleclicking either of these file types give an error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. " There is a button 'Close' and 'Web Help' which still informs me, "you met the C00D1199 error message... ". ». Following the advice given nothing less than useful.

I can easily play these files with RealPlayer or VLC so I don't think it's a driver problem, and it wasn't a corruption right after installing the other players. WMP seems to work OK when playing music or AVI. And there is no harm to hear a sound (wav or midi) in Windows for various system events. Have already uninstalled/reinstalled WMP without result.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.
