  Sounds like a user related error message. Unfortunately, some machines can detect if the cartridge has been tampered with or reused. For various reasons, reload a cartridge is not recommended because it may harm your machine. I went to Sams Club and bought a new HP 6700 Officejet for $114,00... it is up and works fine... but work once beautifully C6180 is now sitting in the trash... and I'm stuck with a value of $150.00 of ink unused... After spending a whole day, at this point leave it outside in this forum. Thank you HP. I really wouldn't buy another HP printer, but I'll let the lesson be: only use original ink manufacturing. ... I think that the cost of it is... A SCAM! JUST VENTILATION!

  HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-one has been arrested and brought to the college for the summer.  Now, the error message above is displayed.  The 75 cartridge is correct and a real HP that worked previously.  Removed and reinstalled the cartridge, turned off and restarted the printer, removed, cleaned and reinstalled the cartridge without success.

  What is a printer or cartridge problem?

  The only thing that worked (finally) is the semi full Reset.  Thank you!!!

  I have had this printer for a few years. Computer system is Windows7. I have the connection USB or Wifi access. Bought new replacement XL60 black and color cartridges. Once installed, received message they were non hp cartridges. I bought them at BJ and they are exactly the same ones that I removed. The only difference is the 16-digit number printed on the face of the cartridge's plastic. I followed the link on the popup of the HP Solutions, and there is no resolution of this situation. The printer works well but I don't know if there will be consequences function-wise for the State of the non hp cartridges. I am located in New Jersey. The package notes "product of the Malaysia. I guess it is ligitimate.

  Thank you for your response. A few days at the start of the printer, Center apparently recognized HP solutions HP cartridges and displays ink levels. The opinion of "non HP ink" had disappeared. Everything seems to work now. I guess it was just a one-time glich.

  I have had this printer for years.  I had a few problems here and there, but it was basically a machine reliable and quality.  A week or two ago, my HP black ink cartridge ran out.  I tried an ink cartridge not HP for the first time.  (Gasp!)  It did not work.  I assumed it was less and I pulled it.  I then installed a new HP black cartridge 564XL.  But still no black ink is printed.  I ran 'clean' in the Tools menu print head several times.  I cleaned the electrical contacts.  I made sure that the evacuation of cartridge area was clear.  I removed the cartridges, unplugged for a minute or two and reinstalled them.  Nothing has worked.  Probably put in this cartridge not HP for a few minutes is not totally destroy my printer!   Any help will be greatly appreciated.
