Cat long w/Sandisk-Extreme SD 80 MB vs extreme Plus

I just bought this card Extreme 45Mo from Best Buy for $19.99 on cyber Monday.

http://www.BestBuy.com/site/SanDisk-Extreme-16-GB-secure-digital-high-capacity-SDHC-1-card/1066224.p...

But what I received this card at the bottom left in the package sealed the factory as the cards: SDSDXS - 016G - A46 80 MB on both

............... What I received... vs... Here is the new packaging

I talked with a great Sandisk tech person (Bravo Jacob K.) and he said mine on the left is simply old label.  Sandisk website does not show this map of 80 MB "Extreme."

The card that I got for $19.99 is actually an EXTREME PLUS card with EXTREME labelling and pricing.   Fix?

1 can clear up this confusion of labelling more?  When and where this labelling extreme 80 MB was there?  Is this really old card?   The back shows 2013 copyright.     Extreme 80 MB extreme current vs more 80 MB is confusing?

2. my new camera is a S110 cannon that "pourrait" work fine with just the Ultra 30 MB.  Is this 80 MB card no problem for the S110 or my old computer which probably isn't 2.0 USB 3.0.

3. with regard to the speed of card: this card faster, IE 80 MB vs 30 or 45 MB, maybe a worse choice for a reason any?   Reliability, accuracy of data, service life, etc...    I ask because sometimes more is not better.  I remember student years of writable DVD and sometimes actually performing slower versions than the more recent/more rapid versions.

Thank you very much for clarifying my 3 questions.   My last OLD camera was a card compact flash, so I catch a LOT about my old Tech savvy.

O.K.   Nothing to say here.  My apologies.

After some research, there is a change of label at one time.  The 80 MB extreme is extreme more than 80 MB.

It's a little confusing, but it is not serious.  And, reading all the reviews from Amazon, it seems that this card is excellent.  People get different results of speed in real life according to what equipment they use in.

Best Buy price, however, is a little interesting.  Get the version of 80 MB for the price of 45 mb during cyber week.

Take care.   Changes of SD card about the speed/size/prices are crazy from just 2 years ago.  Memory is SO cheap!

  • SanDisk Extreme USB Flash Drive and SMART failure

I just got 3 64 GB SanDisk Extreme USB Flash Drives and all three show SMART failures to reassign bad sectors. I struggle to believe that all three could be bad on first use. I use a program on a Mac (SoftRAID(4)) to certify all drives prior to use, including the SD cards and USB keys. I've never seen a failure so far.

Readers see the successful certification but present a SMART failure.

What is a disk problem or a SMART question or what?

    Thank you

    Lief

I agree that it is unlikely to have failed on the first use. Most likely, it is a problem with the SMART attributes. IIRC sandisk can't CHIP for this product so it formats without error, and data can be copied onto the discs with success, I wouldn't worry too much on this subject.

  • New SanDisk Extreme 120 GB and the slow performance.

    Hello

I recently bought Sandisk Extreme (SDSSDX - 120G - G25) but disappointing the peformance is not good as it is.

    My motherboard: ASUS P9X79 PRO)

First of all, I connect ssd Sata 6 Gbit/s port to intel and update the firmware to R211. Also I put all the options in the bios for Sata AHCI mode.

Then I format and run a few tests.

Here are some benchmarks and other:

your performance is normal. as ssd use uncompressable data. SSD using sandforce controllers do better with data compressable.

  • SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 unusable as Windows support install all other key 3.0 USB works

    Hello

I've explained the problem that is described in detail in the following thread, please read full for understand what is the problem.

    http://www.wincert.NET/forum/topic/11021-SanDisk-Extreme-30-32GB-cant-go-on-at-install-destination/

    In short:

The problem is in the stage of Windows where you select the partition to install it's unpossible click Next:

An error message appears that says: cannot find any partition or create an install for... but the hard drive is visible and its also possible to create and delete partitions, so the error message is bull * beep *.

My thougth is that sandisk stick is detected as disk sata hard and is internally by mistake folders as first hard disk, if I get out the stick at the stage where I select the partition, click Refresh, reconnect the key, other refreshment so I can install on the hard disk.

What is the problem with your extreme poles? Any other key usb 3.0 works well.

To pull the stick and so on is just a workaround dirty, I bougth the stick because of the speed!

        @x23piracy,

I have searched high and low for more more information ob this odd behavior. But all i can find is either not reliable or solutions such as the one tried. No real reason as to why or what is the problem.

I suspect it has something do to with the way the partition tables are setup on the source media (in this case a san disk usb drive.) I would start there.

Resizing a partition would do the trick but do a full back of the drive just in case

Windows setup will run a refresh on the USB bus at the point that you are having problems with.

One way to get around it, is to pull the USB disk out, then put it back in, and go back one step of Windows setup, and try again. This works in most cases with this error.

The questions remains. Why is this happening with this particular brand/size of USB stick while it is not happening with others, and how to prevent this behavior?

It's a good question. I also own the same drive, and have the same issue with it.

I have a feeling that the controller in the stick is slow at initializing, and is simply not fast enough for Windows Setup. If you watch the USB stick when Windows is setting up, you can see that it's being initialized, (just before setup asks what drive you want to install Windows on) as my mouse and keyboard also disconnect and reconnect at the same time.

Stimpy can be correct. One way i found to solve this problem is to create some unallocated space in the drive(150 mb or more).

Even though you weren't talking about that, I don't know why it wouldn't work. I've reformatted them before, Fat32 and NTFS.

OK, I went looking for references. Yes you can do it, but it seems it is not as easy to do as I thought, at least for everyone. Some folks say the standard built-in Windows 7 tools do it automatically, some say they don't. I still haven't tried it, since I don't have a USB stick available to partition at the moment. Some references say that that you need to flip the USB removable bit so that Windows will see the stick as a fixed drive before you can partition it. I also found two different tutorials or how to partition a USB stick here and here. So, yes, one way or another it can be done.

        Cheers and Regards

Yeah, I have looked in to this a while ago. And found that you cannot partition this USB stick. It needs to be seen by the system as a fixed drive, but for whatever reason, Sandisk are not interested in helping their customers out with this, as it is a simple change to the drives firmware, like you described. There is a rumour going round that Sandisk are going to realease an updated firmware that will make this drive compatible with Windows To Go, and turn it into a fixed disk. I think that's unlikely, but you never know!

Have a look here, it seems Sandisk support simply does not care.

    Hello
I have a sandisk extreme pro 128 GB usb and I try to format it to NTFS in windows and it is impossible.
The only way I success for formatting on my MAC but the NTFS partition is not visible in Windows...
Use NTFS or HFS partition without problems, but on Windows the button does not work on my MAC and can...
Does anyone have a solution for me?

PS: I try windows XP, 7 or 8.1 nothing works...
Windows see 2 partitions on my key, but cannot format.

I just fix myself... about here was a good idea LoL

So my problem was when I format the key the first time I use my MAC, and by default the MAC use GUID partition to format the key and on Windows, we should use MBR partition.

Then when I format the USB on my MAC using disk utility, on the score of "variants" tab change when to create an NTFS partition MBR (instead of default GUID) partition

After this, format the key and that's it!

Its working fine now, I'm happy with this beautiful, design USB by Sandisk ;-)

  • 16 GB SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS - I memory vs Kingston ultimateX card

Currently our House has 2 cameras, a Sony Cybershot DSC TX5 and a Nikon D90. Cybershot uses a Promaster SDHC 4 GB then the Nikon uses a Kingston 16 GB UltimateX 100 x SDHC.

These cameras are used for still images and animated images, so I was wondering, did anyone know the differences between the above mentioned cards in all terms and the 16 GB SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS - I memory card (other size, I mean).

    Thanks :)

I don't know how critical these cameras are, but when you use cameras like the Canon XF-300 or XF-305, Sandisk is the preferred brand. Extreme against Extreme Pro gives you the same functionality, including sub - and appreciated, but the Pro version is almost double the price. The SD card on this device for custom image profiles and firmware updates that I use is the Sandisk 16 GB Extreme, not the Extreme Pro.

Admitted, CF or SD is of course incomparable, but if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't go to Sandisk, Kingston, and according to the difference in price, I would probably stop the extreme version, do not spend the additional amount on the Extreme Pro.

    Just my $0.02

  • SanDisk Extreme 64 GB readyboost compatible?

    Hey all.

I can't find the answer to this question anywhere on the net.

SanDisk 64 GB Extreme is compatible with readyboost for windows 8.1?

    Thank you!

    Hello

as far as I know, you can use any available with Windows ready boost FlashDrive. but I also know that Sandisk did not recommend this use due to the fact that the flash player will not wear in a period very short and may be you will lose data.

so I suggest you to use the drive as a normal storage device.

  • What is the correct alignment? (sandisk extreme 240 GB)

each review seems to show an alignment of 1024 k as ssd, as here http://img.hexus.net/v2/SSD/SanDisk/Extreme240/AS-SSDb.png

However my drive is set to 234496 in windows 7.  This is a new installation, the ahci enabled and the intel rst installed 10.8.  Also using the R201 firmware.  All other drives have been disconnected when I installed. c3/c6 processor disabled in the bios.

    Data sheet:

    P8z68-v pro gen 3

    I7 2600 k

    8 GB of ddr3 memory

    Corsair ax850psu

Say you clone the drive, then use a partitioning tool to set the alingment?

as long as AS SSD presents this green number you alignment is good to go. Basically any number can be displayed here so it is evenly divisible by 4, you're good to go.

  • SanDisk Extreme 8 GB does not not in UDMA

    Hello
I bought a Sandisk card CF Extreme (SDCFX - 008G - X 46, BI100912916B) today and seems that it does not work in UDMA mode. I can read/write it max 9, 5 MB/s in my card reader (and this card reader can read/write 18 MB/sec my Extreme III SDHC card).
I have a Canon 7 d and it does recognize it as a UDMA card no more. Any suggestions or should I change to a new?
    PS: Sorry for my English

It's better and more like what you get on a USB drive. to get the full speed of the map, you can use the card adapter Express Pro Extreme.

copuld you try to return the card, but I'm not sure you'll see different results.
