I tried Mr. Fixit, and I still keep getting the same message again and again... It was working fine, less then a month ago.
Hello
19 code means there is a driver conflict such as two devices attempt to use the same resources.
Please make all underneath the same if you've done it before as it's often the total of the process which
solves
the question.
Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.
Normally the above will solve this problem if not work your way down through them, even if you
done before.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
correctly.
Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.
Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and

CD/DVD drive does not work - error code 39 on Satellite A300
Good evening.
I have a problem with my Satellite A300.
I can't get the drive to function.Device Manager indicates that the driver is current. But also says that it is corrupted "code 39".
I tried to download the new Toshibas website drivers but they are all come as code 39 cannot install. First, I noticed that it was last night when I was installing Norton 360. I got the cd it worked once then nothing.Anyone ran across this before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Hello
I had the same problem and I found a solution here in the forum.
The problem is that your Windows registry database is confused upward. You must first access the Device Manager and should remove the reader of CD/DVD from the list of devices.
Second, he must start the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}Finally, restart the laptop and test the CD/DVD drive again!
Good bye

Try following the steps under "Windows 7 or Windows Vista" in the MS KB article:

I am running Vista Home Premium on a laptop Compaq Presario F700. It is listed in the list of computers of readers, it is listed in Device Manager. The lites drive that the computer boots so I know it is detected. When you run itunes or media player the player does not open. When I push the drive button it will not open. It opens with a paperclip in the exit hole. It cannot read a CD or a DVD. None of the media players even recognize there is a disc in the drive. I tried to run fixit, but it would not drive either. I tried restoring from a previous backup, without change.

Satellite L500 - 1CQ PSLS0E - CD/DVD drive does not work - driver problem?
Hello
My DVD player does not work.
There is power to it. The engine turns when I eject and reinsert. Troubleshooting Control Panel for the equipment and devices said it is a driver problem, but cannot fix it. Problem with the driver.
I reinstalled it from the Toshiba site.
It records in the right place?
I am Windows 7 64 bit and chose the right driver for it.Should I use the 64-bit?
I have 3 MB of RAM which was the spec when bought. If I wanted to change to 32 bit how you take you without the CD/DVD drive?
Is there any point in doing this?Thank you
Richard
Hello
To be honest I m a bit confused.
You are not able to boot from THE disks; Windows disk, disk recovery, disk Linux? If it of the case, then it means that your CD/DVD drive is faulty.
Why? Because the CD/DVD drive is recognized and controlled by the BIOS when booting from CD or DVD.When the Windows operating system has started, the CD/DVD drive must use the Microsoft common driver which is part of the Windows operating system.
This means that you n t need to install ALL the drivers in order to get the job of CD/DVD.If you can boot from any disk, but if the CD/DVD drive is not recognized by MY computer, then I recommend this:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-usBefore you remove the upper and lower registry filters, remove the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and then go into the registry and remove the filters. Restart the unit.
Good luck

I assume that the reader has worked in the past with the same BIOS version
It is a drive hardware problem or some registry keys are corrupt.I think that it s a hardware malfunction may be a matter of lenses.
But try this;
Remove the drive from Device Manager and shut the laptop computer. After restarting again the operating system should recognize the drive again. Then you can check the functionality.Otherwise, you can remove the disk from the laptop, and then start the laptop without the drive. Then stop the laptop, put the drive in the notebook and start over.
The firmware should again loads. But if these procedures help t, I don t see it differently as for replace the drive
