CD/dvd drive does not work - it is recognized when the computer starts, and it is listed in the Device Manager?
I am running Vista Home Premium on a laptop Compaq Presario F700. It is listed in the list of computers of readers, it is listed in Device Manager. The lites drive that the computer boots so I know it is detected. When you run itunes or media player the player does not open. When I push the drive button it will not open. It opens with a paperclip in the exit hole. It cannot read a CD or a DVD. None of the media players even recognize there is a disc in the drive. I tried to run fixit, but it would not drive either. I tried restoring from a previous backup, without change.
Hello
Check / settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 so watch the screen as it starts - place CD/DVD
1st in the boot order (remember to put it at the time where the fact).
Then put in a DVD to boot Windows and see if the driver works.
If it doesn't then it's a hardware problem.
=======================================
If the drive has worked in the test above, that these can help:
Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.
Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.
Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Satellite 2430: CD/DVD drive does not work - i/o error
Hello all Toshiba people.i have recently bought a Toshiba Satellite 2430 for a very good price. One thing the carpet * a DVD - ram Uj - 810 drive does not work when I put in any type of cd or dvd, I get this error
F:\ is not accessible.
The request could not be performed because of an i/o error.I talked to my local computer Wizz and does everything that he suggested to the letter and still the same problem. He suggested updating the bios drivers and the only way to do that is on a disk drive that she cannot take the an or a CD or dvd drive is not working. Can you please help me!
Begging you a lot
Michael BorgerIn my view BIOS update will not change.
I assume that the reader has worked in the past with the same BIOS version
It is a drive hardware problem or some registry keys are corrupt.I think that it s a hardware malfunction may be a matter of lenses.
But try this;
Remove the drive from Device Manager and shut the laptop computer. After restarting again the operating system should recognize the drive again. Then you can check the functionality.Otherwise, you can remove the disk from the laptop, and then start the laptop without the drive. Then stop the laptop, put the drive in the notebook and start over.
The firmware should again loads.But if these procedures help t, I don t see it differently as for replace the drive

There is power to it. The engine turns when I eject and reinsert. Troubleshooting Control Panel for the equipment and devices said it is a driver problem, but cannot fix it. Problem with the driver.
I reinstalled it from the Toshiba site.
It records in the right place?
I am Windows 7 64 bit and chose the right driver for it.Should I use the 64-bit?
I have 3 MB of RAM which was the spec when bought.If I wanted to change to 32 bit how you take you without the CD/DVD drive?
Is there any point in doing this?Thank you
Richard
Hello
To be honest I m a bit confused.
You are not able to boot from THE disks; Windows disk, disk recovery, disk Linux?If it of the case, then it means that your CD/DVD drive is faulty.
Why? Because the CD/DVD drive is recognized and controlled by the BIOS when booting from CD or DVD.When the Windows operating system has started, the CD/DVD drive must use the Microsoft common driver which is part of the Windows operating system.
This means that you n t need to install ALL the drivers in order to get the job of CD/DVD.If you can boot from any disk, but if the CD/DVD drive is not recognized by MY computer, then I recommend this:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-usBefore you remove the upper and lower registry filters, remove the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and then go into the registry and remove the filters. Restart the unit.
Good luck

Satellite A200 - 19L: no sound after hibernation & CD/DVD drive does not work
First of all, my laptop computer became very slow loading vista after formula 1 week to buy it.
Second, sometimes when I put the mode 'sleep' a revival of the laptop, there is no sound and a red circle appears over the speaker icon in the bar of tasks, and when I go into control panel > Sound, he tells me that no. his drive was installed and when restarting the laptop the problem resolved?
Thirdly, after the formula of the week 3 buy the computer also dvd - cd player has the same problem, like the sound and when you open my computer that NO cd\dvd drive icon and when I put a cd or dvd, it does not work or run and it happens all the time, even if the laptop restarts.
Since then im able to watch movies or work.
I'm lost and I don't know what to do!
(Sorry for my bad English, but I hope you understand the problems)Hey Osama
I think I can help you. The questions that appear on your laptop are not serious and the only one associated with software or registry.
Regarding your noise problem:
Please check this Microsoft document

or
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/937077/the MS update must be downloaded and installed ;)
Regarding the missing CD/DVD drive;
I think you should try to remove the drive from Device Manager and reboot the laptop. Then the operating system should recognize the STRANGE again.
Secondly you should access the registry editor and should remove the upper filter and bring back the key filter

CD/DVD drive does not work on my Satellite L300D
Hi all
* I have Toshiba Satellite L300D laptop and my OS is Windows Vista.*
I don't have any driver cd... when buying. They ask me to download from internet if any necessary driver software.
Now if I put a cd/dvd is not readable. The option of cd/dvd drive is invisible in the my computer window.
I renewed my anti virus and checked the laptop. There a few virus and I deleted all the viruses.
But still my drive does not work.What should I do? Also, my warranty period expires last month. I'm not having any recovery cd also.
Please give me the solution.Hello
Please check if the CD/DVD drive is listed in Device Manager.
If it s listed, then it means that ODD has been recognized by the Windows operating system.In this case, try this;
-Remove the STRANGE to the list of devices.
-remove the filters above and below of this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
-Reboot the laptopUsually, this helps.

Question: How can I format Satellite A10 PSA10C - CD/DVD drive does not work
Question: How can I format my laptop?
The problem is that my CD-ROM does not work or it cannot read the CD.
Help me guys and btw, is possible to format using USB Flash Disk?TNX in advance
Model: PSA10C-035WM
As much as I know with USB Flash Disk won't work.
I really wonder why you don't buy replacement ODD. Compatible readers for this model of laptop old are more expensive. Replacement is very easy and you can do it alone.
Wait a minute: you can remove the laptop HARD drive and connect to other PC / laptop as external one. If you can do what you want.
