CD/DVD drive has stopped being recognized by Satellite A100 - 01 G

I have a Satellite A100 - 01 G, but the CD/DVD drive has stopped being recognized by the machine.
I have full Vista like the o/s.

Help, please
Thank you

Hello

Have you checked in the Device Manager if the CD/DVD player display correctly?
Please check this!

As a follow-up, I would recommend removing the reader of CD/DVD of the crèche of the device a restarting the laptop.
The Windows operating system should recognize the new device (ODD) and should load the drivers again.

Then access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

and reboot.

Good luck

  • CD/DVD drive has stopped working and now not recognized in 'My Computer'

I have a HP Pavilion computer to office model a6109n, product number GG038AA, S/N CNH7250K0M. I've been running Windows 7 for 2 years. My CD player recently stopped working. I can't attribute this failure to any specific event that would have led to it.  When a CD is inserted, the green light comes on for about 6 seconds then turns off. The CD player is not long represented on the 'My Computer' to readers list. The CD drive appears in Device Manager. I tried to roload the driver for CD drive, Windows gave a message stating that the best driver is already installed. I have no error message and ran three programs different viruses with no problems. I've also updated Windows available current configuration that has not solved the problem. Thinking it was a hardware problem, I checked the CD drive cable connections and that did not help.  I replaced the CD drive with a new drive for HP and had the same symptoms. I returned the new CD player and he traded for an external CD drive and had the same symptoms in all USB ports. I tried every USB port with a flash player and the flash player saved on my computer in all USB ports. If my CD drive is being recognized by the Device Manager but not in my computer. It's okay if it's an internal or external drive. Everything else on the computer works fine. More troubleshooting ideas?  Thank you.

    Hello

Code 39 means that the driver is corrupted or missing.

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
    the question.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Also check with your system manufacturer to see if there are any updated drivers for your DVD. Or even if it
are you can reinstall the 'old'. Many use Windows default drivers however some special aura
ones. Also check the website of the manufacturer of the car.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

I'm VERY inexperienced in this kind of thing!  Can you help me?

    Hello!!

If you have no experience, then do nothing, try to call a repairman or call the manufacturer and ask them to do it for you...

but try somethings first of all you can... I guess that your drive was working fine just before some software have been installed, try the system restore to the date when your computer was working fine.

to the system restore menu-> all programs from start-> Accessories-> systemtools-> systemrestore...

Choose the date when your system to work properly, select the calendar... and follow the instructions on the screen. Don't forget: read carefully the Instructions... :)

Ask if you have any doubt.

When I checked it, I found that the PC DVD R/RW e drive is full when I right click on it and open properties. It says 0 bytes remaining and the pie is complete without space. I don't know what happened, so is my son. You see, I'm not good with this stuff, please someone tell me what to do. Thank you...

Moreover, our laptop is only a half a year old. It was purchased new.

    Hello

To be honest I'm not quite sure what happened but maybe it s m just a problem of windows registry.

First of all I recommend you to remove the CD/DVD Device Manager drive.
Then leave the appliance Manager and start recording (in RUN type regedit).

There, you have to completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

After restarting the device, wait for Windows to recognize the CD/DVD drive and retest the CD/DVD drive

    Hello

you mean that the external hard drive does not work too? Some software blocking your disks?

I think that the best way to check if your internal drive still works would try to start with a bootable CD (perhaps with a live linux distribution on it) and to try this with the external hard drive also.

If you're really a software that prevents the drive work properly, then you should recover your machine with the recovery media to make the drive work again properly.

    Hello

Generally, if the drive is dead only the drive replacement will solve the problems. I don t think that it is possible to repair the disk.
But nevertheless, you must contact the service because there you can control compatible player. The problem is that not all readers are compatible with the device.
The ASP from Toshiba have detailed information about the compatibility of the device and you can be sure that you will get a good player at 100%.

  • New CD/DVD drive is not properly recognized on Satellite A30

    Hi all

I just bought a new CD-RW/dvd-r for my Satellite A30 disk drive, and it does not recognize the new drive. It is certainly compatible (the player itself is the SD-R2412), but when I go to 'my computer' there is no cd drive it at all.

I have the feeling that it could be something to do with the code of the device in Device Manager, but I don't know how to change, what is the new number, or even what to do.

Can someone help me? -Is it something to do with the Device Manager, drivers or something else?

    Thank you, Jon

Edit: I noticed there are a few other people with the same problem - but it is a different cause. For most people than what happens when the software is installed, and when they enter the Device Manager there is a yellow exclamation point.

However - this is not the case for me. This is a new piece of hardware, and there is no yellow triangle in my device manager. I think it's the wrong device i.d. as I changed the drive itself - but do not know how to go for the implementation, so that the computer makes this new record
