  Western Digital internal hard (second drive) drive is not visible after I updated from XP to Windows 7.  The missing SATA drive is visible in the BIOS, but not when Start Menu Windows 7 finishes launching.  Westerm Digital "Data Lifeguard" also does not detect the SATA drive.

  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  Shut down the computer and unplug the SATA cable on the second disc.

  Restart Windows and go to your computer manufacturer's support web site and search for Windows 7 drivers for your specific model number.

  If you have Windows 7 drivers then download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them,from the card mother/chipset drivers, SATA, LAN, Audio, etc, and so on. Then shut down the computer.

  Now reconnect the cable SATA and Windows startup, it should normally detect a drive is connected and indicate via a popup.

  Then open "Disk Management" and see if the drive is listed.

  After the upgrade to Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop Dell Vostro 1500, the Optiarc AD-5560 DVD +-RW drive doesn't recognize DVD-R media.  I tried to burn a DVD of the musical of my daughter using create DVD Windows to find that player whirred and sputter before it me a disc unrocognizable the notification.  After trying several different and even during running brands in store for an additional brand, it is clear that the player does not play well.  I also tried:

• Drive letter missing after upgrade to Windows 7

  After the Vista Premium upgrade to Windows 7, the letter of partition and recovery disk do not appear in Windows Explorer.

  Have you installed just Win7 upgrade or maybe clean install of Win7?
  I updated several laptop computers, and something like that doesn't happen. Just if you have deleted the existing partition.

  By the way: there is no recovery partition. Recovering files is saved in the folder HDDRecovery on the second partition of HARD drive.

  Please answer a few questions to refine the question.

  1 are you referring to the "documents" folder in Windows thelibrary?

  2. did you check the exact location of the folder "documents" in Windows 7?

  3. from which operating system you have upgraded to Windows 7?

  4. have you received an error during the upgrade to Windows 7?

  Method 1:
  

  As was the Document and Settings folder in Windows XP Pro in Windows 7 does not have access to any user, as it is a protected file. The folder you're talking has now been replaced in Windows 7 with the USERS folder. And you can also access the folders of documents in libraries. You can search the documents folders in C:/Users/user_name.  If the problem persists, proceed to the next step.

  Method 2:

  $INPLACE. ~ TR and $WINDOWS. ~ Q are leftover folders created by Windows during the upgrade process, if there is no error while upgrading files may be saved in these files.

  Individual records will be hidden by default and you can view the folders to view the folders. You can look in the C: drive.

• Yoga 2 Pro - sleep setting missing after upgrade to Windows 10 RTM

  Here's another interesting event. I use sleep mode all the time, that's what happens "when I close the lid. After upgrade Windows 8.1 for Windows 10 RTM, "standby mode" is not found. "when I close the lid" and related parameters in power management have an empty selection, sleep does not appear in the drop-down list of choices. It seems revenue to "Put to sleep" by default. By reading the other Windows 10 forums I know sleep is supported in Windows 10, how can I get that back? I tried to download and install the latest driver for power management (as dated 17/07/2015, I think) but I get the message that "you already have a newer version of the driver installed", I cancelled out of the facility. Are there newer drivers planned for soon? I can shoot with Microsoft Basic Display Driver (3200 x 1800 only, see my other ad in the forum), although I used a different resolution in Windows 8.1 and hibernate instead of mode 'sleep', but I hope that these features will work soon.   I have a PC running OEM Win7 x 64... just did the free update to Win10 a few days ago. HARD drive just crashed hard. I did an ISO when I upgraded to Win10. I'm trying now reinstall on another HARD drive... and no matter if I use Win7 OEM drive or ISO Win10 disc, it tells me that the activation code is invalid. I was under the impression that, as long as the mobo (and everything else except the HARD disk) is the same, Windows will allow you to reinstall with the key?

• Loss of CD/DVD driver on the upgrade to Windows 10

  I have a gateway all-in-One ZX4270 model which I updated from Windows 8.1 to 10.  Everything is OK except that I apparently lost my CD/DVD drive in the process.  He is still physically there, and he turns a drive when it is inserted, but the computer does not recognize the drive.  It is not shown on the file Explorer.   Based on the advice of the Microsoft forum, I first run the troubleshooter (no effect) and then uninstalled the driver in the Device Manager and rebooted, but no new driver has been installed.  I looked on the Acer website for a new driver to download, but none seem to be included.  Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

  I'm sorry but I'm out of ideas.  I don't know if the registry change will help or cause problems.

  I might even consider buying an external DVD and then plug it into a USB port.

• Network Controller Driver missing after upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium

  I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 on my HP G71-340US notebook.  The installation went well except that when the computer is started, I found that the PC did not find any wi - fi connections.  After further investigation, I found that the network controller do not have a driver installed.  I downloaded the latest software of NIC driver on the HP website (via ethernet cable) and directed the pilot.  Updated the Realtek PCIe Controller Family driver, but the driver for network controller did not.  As a result, I could not even connect to wi - fi networks.  The information of the network adapter are listed below for reference.  Your help would be greatly appreciated to resolve this issue.  Thank you.

  If your wireless device is a part of Intel and Intel has a driver download page which has a driver update utility you can download (maybe on your desktop) and let it scan your system and see if it suggests a driver for you:

  It is generally not a good idea to use Windows Update to hardware device drivers (video, audio, network) because Microsoft does not know what are the best drivers for your system.  Always get material on the www of manufacturers if possible device drivers (if you want your system to work properly).

  If you ever see updates of hardware driver provided by Windows update that I would refuse them, and then hide them if you do not install the wrong drivers accidentally.

  Here you can see where I chose not to install and then hidden Windows updates for an NVIDIA graphics card since I know that they are probably not right and I know I should get only the right NVIDIA from WWW NVIDIA site drivers.
