CD/DVD drive not working do not, but are there in my computer!
To anyone who can help...
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 with vista, less than 9 or 10 months. Now, the problem I have is that the CD/DVD drive does not work it will opening and closing and makes two short sounds and what - not more. Before this happened I had installed Roxio and then I uninstalled it and since then him dosent drive works.
And to answer most of your questions
1... it appears in my computer
2... it appears in Device Manager and that his work is
3... I uninstalled it, rebooted and it reinstalled the drive itself
4... I deleted the upper and lower and rebooted the laptop and still the same fillters.
5... all drivers are up to date!
6. I searched the web looking for answers, but none has the kind of problem I :(
So, the only other thing that it would be maybe is just nackerd drive. but I hope not.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you.

HI Paul,.
I think that your first priority will be to remove the virus from your laptop. The following link contains the virus details: -.
http://securityresponse.Symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/W32.Desktophijack.html
You are shown in the BIOS to CD-ROM? If yes then set to be the first selectable boot device and you should be able to load your recovery disk and restart it.

Satellite Pro L20 - cd/dvd drive not responding
Hello
I currently have a Satellite Pro L20, recently my cd/dvd drive a work stoppage, and he comes back with the error message i/o device driver. It is impossible to read any form of cd/DVD. I can't explore keeps it the d: drive asking for a disc to be inserted.
Thank you.
I relly m not 100% sure if my advice will help you to solve this problem, but I recommend to remove the drive from the device and then Manager to delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}Then restart the laptop and check if it helps it worth a try.
Anyway if it doesn t help chances are readers equipment would malfunction. Maybe the s drive laser lens can not calibrate in the right position and, therefore, it of not possible to read or write CD or DVD.

Pavilion Slimline s5-1020: DVD drive not recognized in Device Manager
My rarely used DVD player no longer works. Here are the things I have seen/made:
-J' updated to Windows 10. It may or may not have stopped working before the update.
-I update Windows automatically, and everything seems to be in order there.
-The DVD seems to be operational, insofar as you can hear it turn when a disc is inserted.
-Setup recognizes, and it is enabled; It is not at all in Device Manager or in the file Explorer.
Based on the things I've tried, there are indications that it may be either a hardware or a software problem (or both?):
SOFTWARE PROBLEM?
I followed these as much as possible:
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03370738#c03370738_NoDriveWin8
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03370738#c01895589_resetpower
http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-CD-DVD-read-only/read-this-for-CD-DVD-drive-with-burning-Missin...
-I got disconnected/reconnected the drive.
-J' tried various DVD I knew to do.
-I don't have to update the BIOS, given warnings.
- Nor did I mess with registry filters.
-J' tried to find a Microsoft Fixit solution, but the one referenced somewhere in these pages don't apply to this OS - I think it was for Win 7. I tried MS Control Panel convenience stores, but none of them worked.
So I can't say whether or not it is a software problem.
HARDWARE PROBLEM?
-J' have set the boot on the CD order in configuration and the desktop with Windows 7 HP Pavilion system repair disc - nothing happened, he went straight to the HD (even if I had turned off). So that leads me to believe it may be a hardware problem after all.
Do I have other options at this point, except maybe buy another drive? And in fact if I do, it is possible that one does not work either? While you are not alone in this problem, here's a thread that deals with her.
See if that helps

Satellite Pro A210 DVD Drive not working no-error code 39
Hi all
My Satellite Pro A210 dvd player does not load.
When I looked inside, he showed an error code 39.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still doesn't work.Any ideas?
Hello
To my knowledge, the 39 error message appears if the CD/DVD drive is not visible in my computer.
You can try this workaround:
Go to Device Manager and remove the drive CD/DVD from the list of devices.
Then go to the registry (regedit) and remove upper and lower key filters:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then restart the device and test again

CD/DVD drives not working only not on the two PC running Vista, heeeeeelp!
Hi guys, two PCs, which is new, both running Vista decided that the installed CD/DVD readers shouldn't work!
The new PC reads a CD/DVD when inserted (lamps flash to recognize this is something), then nothing (Autoplay is configured to use
iTunes ") so I'm going to, click on 'Computer' on the disc, and he says "insert a disc into the DVD drive (f) So, I installed the MS auto fix jobbie and it says ' insert readable media...» "I've had (several store bought CD and DVD all failed to save) then I tried to search the upper and lower filter using regedit, but there is no file with this name in the folder on the drive.
Device Manager indicates that drivers are up to date, and the device does not work, even though I have many distinguishing!
Apparently, it is specific to Vista, but suggested courses of action left me with an even worse urge to kick the bloody things around the House that I had when I tried to play the CD in the first place, any help from you lovely people would be most appreciated. Thank you, James :)

Audio & CD/DVD drive not working only not with Vista
I have a laptop HP V6500 Pressario, with Vista Home Basic installed recently. I have two problems with my laptop:
1 > there is no sound, and I see the error "no audio device is installed" with a red cross on the "speaker" icon.
2 > drive CD/DVD is not visible in 'my computer '.These two problems are persistent, but begin to work from time to time, say once 20 times when I turn on the laptop, I see the CD drive and also audio works, but these work only for about 10 minutes...
I tried the Dr.Fixit and it did not help and have also installed the latest drivers for my notebook to the hp site:
