CD/DVD drive suddenly missing in my computer on Satellite M

My cdc/dvd drive suddenly disappeared.
Still, he turns, but is not recognized in desktop or by any software I use with it.
Any ideas?

A few months ago, I installed a new HARD drive, but this has happened in the last 3 days.
Until then it was working fine.
Driver is installed, but the device is not recognized.

    Hello

Many files that SFC cannot resolve are not important. Probably best to go to the next and upcoming section
    Back to this journal.

Start - type in the search box-> find CMD in top - click right on - RUN AS ADMIN

put the command from below (copy and paste) in this box and her and then press ENTER.

    findstr/c: "[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log > sfcdetails.txt

who creates the sfcdetails.txt file in the folder that you are in when you run it.

So if you're in C:\Windows\System32 > then you will need to look in that folder for the file.

How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program
    in Windows Vista
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/928228

This creates sfcdetails.txt in C:\Windows\System32 find and you can post the errors in a message
here. NOTE: there are probably duplicates so please only post once each section error.

You can read the newspaper/txt files easier if you right click on Notepad or Wordpad then RUN AS ADMIN - then
You can navigate to sfcdetails.txt (in C:\Windows\System32) or cbs.log (in C:\Windows\Logs) as needed.
(You may need to search sfcdetails.txt if it is not created in the default folders.)

Some full scans there is our operating system to xp does not recognize our 2 dvd/cd players after a full scan, by security essentials.

We went into the control panel to check the cd/dvd drivers... and they were gone.  Then we went in the 'my computer' window, and neither one of them were there either.  It's like they were never there.  We can somehow reset something to collect, to use?

    Hello

I see that the CD is missing on the computer.

    1. You did changes to the computer before the show?
    2. The computer is connected to a network?
    3. Is detected in Device Manager?

Device Manager provides a graphical display of the hardware installed on the computer, as well as the device drivers and resources associated with this material. Using the Device Manager provides a central point to change the way the hardware is configured and interacts with the microprocessor of the computer.

To access Device Manager, try the following steps:

  • CD or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows

Original title: another question about the DVD drive is not detected in Windows 7

I have the same problem that many others have described here on the DVDR drive not detected after installing Windows 7. I still have not solved this issue. But I have another similar problem. The system will not recognize an external USB DVDR drive connected to a USB port. In essence, I have no access to the internal drive (in a Dell Inspiron 1545) or the external hard drive. Without access to a DVD player I can't even uninstall Windows 7, and I can not install or save anything else without a drive. I'm at my wits end. If anyone can help I will shower you with praise.

    Hi Therevmrbill,

    Scenario 2:

1 try to connect the DVD USB drive on another computer and check if the problem persists.
    2. try to connect other USB devices to the computer and check if it is detected.

Try to run the troubleshooter and see if the problem is resolved.

    Can you help me please?

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community Forum, please be assured that we would do our best to help you.

Please answer the following questions that would help us provide a better solution.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer number?

2 were there any hardware or software changes made in the computer before this problem?

As your CD/DVD drive is not detected by your computer, it could be a hardware problem. However, I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

Method 1: Check if the CD/DVD drive is seen in BIOS Basic Input Output System ().

IMPORTANT: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Method 2: follow the steps described in the following link and check if it helps.

Your CD or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • CD/DVD drive suddenly stopped responding

    Hello

I recently bought an article for my computer, which forces me to use a CD to install some stuff, and I just noticed that my CD/DVD drive has a problem. Here's what he said when I check the properties:

Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

I have never experienced this problem before, and I don't know what could be causing it. I rarely use my CD/DVD player, except in cases where I need to install something. I have looked around for a little help from Google, tried to use a common solution that people suggested on other errors on the CD/DVD drive, such as uninstall, restart the system and let it do its thing, but it doesn't seem to work, because it still gives me the error. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

So I recently built a new office because my laptop fried itself, and I ran into the famous message "drver cd/dvd required is missing."  I tried many solutions to internet: change SATA AHCI, ATA, IDE; starting with only the hard drive; and the solution that works for 95% of the population: pulling out the USB and insert into another port to the Welcome screen.

Nothing has worked.  I have downloaded the drivers for my motherboard out of their Web site, uncompressed them and put the files on the USB key.  The drivers are not yet recognised because they don't show up in the "Scanning for drivers.

I used the tool Windows 7 USB Installation and WinToFlash to make the USB bootable, nor work.  I have my USB drive plugged into a port DAC - UP, because I read that Windows 7 is not supported with native support for USB3.0.

    Please help me!

Well, I just fixed this problem.  I found a Youtube video on this specific issue, and he said that the non-existent USB3.0 support was to blame.

I followed the video, mounted the USB3.0 drivers to the boot.wim and booted up my office as usual.  This time, he spent the error message and let me install Windows.

    I am so happy.

  • Load the driver - A required CD/DVD driver is missing

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, and at the time of installation, I get the following message:

A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. I f you have a driver disk, CD/DVD or player of the USN, please insert it now.

I guess only he eans there not a device driver for the CD/DVD that contains the installation disk. Which drive do I need and why is it not standard on Windows 7 installation cd?

    Hello

The following message by Bummed about the details of the Support Forums Windows 7 how he got it past: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/a43574ad-e8d0-4d9e-aa86-6ddfda1e9079/Bummed Tuesday, may 12, 2009 18:25

OK, so after three days to try and fight with the installation I have WIN7 RC 7100 64 bit operating.

Given that many people had with missing driver CD/DVD, error I was blocked I'll list the steps I took to work. Before I did anything, I downloaded a free copy of Boot disc Hiren with Patch keyboard just in case I had of problems (freeware and easy enough to find if you google it). I found myself only use it for the DOS prompt but hey - ho...
Some of these steps may seem redundant, but ultimately, this is what took the OS for me:
1 partition and reformat HD's BACK with the commands FDISK and FORMAT C:
    2. install a Vista 64 bit version which, in turn, re-partitioned the drive itself
    3. once Vista was running (does not have a code because I knew that I wouldn't be on it for a long time) inserted the RC 64 bit DVD
    4. in the install window, I ran the check compatibility online tool
    5. He told me that my ITE IT8211 ATA/ATAPI controller must be updated in order to install
6 Ran Wizard to update to Vista which has found a new driver for the ITE IT8211 ATA/ATAPI
7 rebooted Vista 64 to finalize the updates updated (removed DVD RC while restarting disk)
    8. once started, re-insert the DVD of the RC, click on install and went through all the normal installation steps.
Again, this may seem unnecessary (as the FDISK / FORMAT) time, but ultimately it's what works and what I've been through, the problem people seem to have with the CD/DVD driver not found is that the ITE IT8211 ATA/ATAPI controller is not updated. I couldn't find a place to just "Download driver" and put it on a drive flash or something, I got allow windows to do that I hope it will not be the people back. I'm not enough common sense to see if you can install the driver in another way.
Hope that this info is of use to someone and if anyone has questions, feel free to leave a message and I'll check it out later today.
Many thanks to Amrooz and Java_az who helped along the way!

  • CD/DVD drive suddenly not recognized - under Vista Ultimate.

I have a HP Pavilion running Vista Ultimate.  Recently it stopped recognizing my cd/dvd drive.  The regedit procedure does not help, because I have no UpperFilter registry entry.  Where should I go next?  Is there a link that will take me to more useful information?  I don't know how to get instructions for regedit go to "next steps". Thank you!
