CD/DVD drives not working only not on the two PC running Vista, heeeeeelp!

Hi guys, two PCs, which is new, both running Vista decided that the installed CD/DVD readers shouldn't work!

The new PC reads a CD/DVD when inserted (lamps flash to recognize this is something), then nothing (Autoplay is configured to use iTunes ) so I'm going to, click on 'Computer' on the disc, and he says "insert a disc into the DVD drive (f) "

So, I installed the MS auto fix jobbie and it says ' insert readable media...» "I've had (several store bought CD and DVD all failed to save) then I tried to search the upper and lower filter using regedit, but there is no file with this name in the folder on the drive.

Device Manager indicates that drivers are up to date, and the device does not work, even though I have many distinguishing!

Apparently, it is specific to Vista, but suggested courses of action left me with an even worse urge to kick the bloody things around the House that I had when I tried to play the CD in the first place, any help from you lovely people would be most appreciated. Thank you, James :)

Hello

If you have too many programs loading CD/DVD they can collide with each other as they
competition for resources. These will be workload often pieces of themselves in memory at startup
so it will have an effect, even if not to use. If you have installed some of these
lately trying to uninstall it to see if it has an impact.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This troubleshooting help:

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
the parameters.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

You can probably find more info here and maybe even the exact registry for your CD/DVD settings

    Hi amireos,

    Yes, you can create your workflow where you can keep all your images on the external hard drive and the Lightroom catalog file as well.

    If you start with Lightroom and then use the Destination location as external hard drive when you import your image of the external source such as a camera or SD.

    If you already have your Images on the Mac HD drive, then play all your Image on the external hard drive first and then import images directly from there.

    Finally, you can change the location of the Lightroom Catalog as well.

    Default location: folder on the Mac Drive HD, there is folder called Lightroom that you can move on the external drive too (however catalog Lightroom can't memory space as its only import previews of the images is not the real image and full)

    Once you move the file catalog Lightroom external hard disk, then you need to browse the catalog file when you launch Lightroom only once.

    See thread: LR catalog moving on external hard drive

    Let us know if it helps.

  • Pavilion Slimline s5-1020: DVD drive not recognized in Device Manager

    My rarely used DVD player no longer works. Here are the things I have seen/made:
    -J' updated to Windows 10. It may or may not have stopped working before the update.
    -I update Windows automatically, and everything seems to be in order there.
    -The DVD seems to be operational, insofar as you can hear it turn when a disc is inserted.
    -Setup recognizes, and it is enabled; It is not at all in Device Manager or in the file Explorer.
    Based on the things I've tried, there are indications that it may be either a hardware or a software problem (or both?):

    SOFTWARE PROBLEM?
    I followed these as much as possible:
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03370738#c03370738_NoDriveWin8
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03370738#c01895589_resetpower
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-CD-DVD-read-only/read-this-for-CD-DVD-drive-with-burning-Missin...

    -I got disconnected/reconnected the drive.
    -J' tried various DVD I knew to do.
    -I don't have to update the BIOS, given warnings.
    - Nor did I mess with registry filters.
    -J' tried to find a Microsoft Fixit solution, but the one referenced somewhere in these pages don't apply to this OS - I think it was for Win 7.  I tried MS Control Panel convenience stores, but none of them worked.
    So I can't say whether or not it is a software problem.

    HARDWARE PROBLEM?
    -J' have set the boot on the CD order in configuration and the desktop with Windows 7 HP Pavilion system repair disc - nothing happened, he went straight to the HD (even if I had turned off).  So that leads me to believe it may be a hardware problem after all.

    Do I have other options at this point, except maybe buy another drive?  And in fact if I do, it is possible that one does not work either?

    While you are not alone in this problem, here's a thread that deals with her.

  • dv7-1285dx CD/DVD drive not recognized

    Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the computer to recognize the CD/DVD drive?  It does not open by pressing the button and not would light up. An open manual with a PIN is not that he can run a DVD or the other. It does not appear in the Device Manager list.  I installed and ran the program Microsoft Fix It.   I've updated what drivers HP support assistant told me to.  Windows Update is current. None of this has helped.  I could have used this $1200 DVD disc 5 times.  I am running Vista 64 bit.

    Thanks for any help.

    Following my own post - perhaps it will help someone else.  My disk must have been loose, how I don't know.  Even if I had pushed on the door until I did the process depending on whether it still does not work.  What I did unscrew the locking screw at the bottom that keeps the DVD drive in place. Then popped the door open with a paper clip and gently pulled out the entire disk.  I reinserted the drive firmly but gently.  Now he came and it now works fine. If you use a search engine there are guides online with photos and/or videos on how to make the process described above.

    * O.T. > dvd player

    Hello

    my dvd drive not recogonising not any disk, I tried MS fixit but no resultsI.I use a Samsung dvd player in my Win 7

    Its possible that the cd/dvd drive does not, it can happen. Try a lens of dvd/cd cleaner to see if that helps.

    Make sure you have the latest drivers and software installed for the reader, if they are damaged, they may have to reinstall.

    If you haven't already done so, check out this article - https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/314060 that has a number of suggestions to try.

    I am trying to install windows 7 on this laptop. Windows 8 are installed, but the drivers for the hardware that I need to use are not supported. I connect to cd/dvd-rom to boot from usb. I can install windows now the next screen ask a driver for the cd/dvd driver.

    I suggest, if you want to run Windows 7 on your system, you must do it through a virtual machine:

    You can use alternatives such as Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare Player.

    https://www.VirtualBox.org/wiki/downloads

    VMware Player;

    http://downloads.VMware.com/d/details/player_401/dGpkYnRwd3didGRwQA==

    or

    You will first need to go to the website of manufacturers for your model computer and first find out if there are native drivers in Windows 7. A large number of computers that are preloaded with Windows 8 have no native driver support for Windows 7 by the manufacturer. If there is no native driver, you will need to consider returning the machine and buying a machine preloaded with Windows 8 Pro with downgrade rights to Windows 7 Professional. Or look through the catalogue of manufacturers for systems already preloaded with Windows 7, usually the business sector will have these options.

However, when I'm on the FF page where it tells you what plug-ins are very good, and which are outdated (with a warning), at the top of the page, there is a message saying that my computer "does not meet the requirements to run Firefox. And yet I have it and use it! Maybe the message actually means that I can't upgrade to the latest version? But also I don't know if I should go ahead and try to download plug-ins up to date. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
