Cd need to restart?

Hello world. On behalf of all those that forget to say 'Thank YOU FOR YOUR HELP' (including myself) THANKS for TRYING to HELP EVERYONE and registration we probably a good chunk of money. Follow the good aid flowing. Now my question is: How can I get my Toshiba satellite L25-S1217 to detect the correct amount of memory on the information system. I installed TWO a GB chips but shows only 896 MB of RAM. I installed them one at the time and rebooted each time. I also changed values? I'm on Windows XP Home version 2002 with Service Pack 3. Thank you all for your help and your time.

Look at the first screen that appears at startup of the computer and check if it shows what keys to press to specify a startup or to access the BIOS option program installation.  You can change the boot order in BIOS to boot from the CD/DVD drive before the hard drive.

    Hello

Error code 24 characters is a failure of the short test (DST) disk Self and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  It is also consistent with your description of the problem.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - if necessary, you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are no longer under warranty, it's a fairly simple procedure to replace the HARD drive yourself - a brief guide on this is below.

Readers on the following links are examples that would be perfect for your laptop.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 56 of your maintenance & Service Guide.

Your computer has encountered a problem and needs to restart. Collection of information.

    What is this problem for?
    My laptop is TOSHIBA Satellite C660 - 1 M 0 i3

    Is this a Windows problem?

Here is a message I received in Windows7forums on this subject but I don't understand what he means, can understand you for me please? e

    * Re: Heeelp! Your computer ran into a problem! *

These screens generally include a sentence in the screen "fallen on problems." Usually something like Violation of Watchdog DPC (Deferred procedural call) and are often associated with a bad driver and or a power saving state not supported (sleep, hybrid sleep, hibernate, etc.,)

First of all, make sure that you have the latest drivers from your computer manufacturer and or the individual device manufacturer's Web site. Then consider whether this computer manufacturer includes any software that may be incompatible with Windows 8 CP or is somehow patented conflict with Windows 8 CP in energy saving power scheme options. You may need to experiment a little, maybe remove the proprietary tools or taste affecting your schema of high performance or even the options down or max.

The overview of consumption is more or less a new frontier for everyone here to work through this kind of problem is going to be informative and beneficial for all who read your thread, so please keep us posted as to how you are progressing with your current number.

    Hello

Blue screen of death (BSOD) may be caused by software or hardware problems.
To know if it of really a software problem, you can try running a HARD drive recovery procedure which would fix the laptop back to factory settings.

What is an option for you?
    If Yes, check this:

    Thank you for your inquiry.

I understand that when you try to start your laptop, you get the error ': PC encountered a problem and needs to restart. " NOT LESS DRIVER IRQL OR EQUAL (rtwlane.sys)".

I'm assuming you get a blue screen with this error and are unable to load Windows. Is this correct?

You can start in safe mode?  HP computers - Windows Safe Mode (Windows, 10, 8).

If you are able to boot into safe mode and that you have installed Norton, you can try to uninstall it as others have said that solved the problem.

If this is the case and you can again access Windows, run the HP Support Assistant to acquire the recommended updates.

I also suggest to do the Windows updates.

Please let me know the results.

  • After updating Vista, no display on startup. You need to restart each time you start.

    Hello

My pc worked fine months ago, but after an update to Vista, all of a sudden it started not to display what whether at start-up.

Monitor work, Vista loads, because I can hear the opening melody of the speakers.

But there is no display, I have a black screen. LCD monitor remains in stand by mode.

To solve the problem, I need to restart the computer and go to guarantee the mode every time...

After pressing the restart button, the monitor opens normally, I choose the secure mode, if I did not have Vista isn't black, again leaving the screen.

After choosing safe mode, drivers and loading files and when I see the screen of the user, I restart Vista.

That everything becomes normal... Vista starts normally.

I've updated my ATI driver but nothing has changed.

How can I resolve this display problem? To open my pc and be able to see my office properly, I need to restart twice each time you start...
