CD-ROM not working not

I got a virus in my computer so I had to have everything wiped and reinstalled. Well, when I came back my computer my cd rom drive does not work. I can't install any software and it will not play any dvd or cd. I checked in Device Manager and it says that my cd-rom 'work properly' but I still can't install anything or listen to any music or watch DVDs.

I try to get the manufacturer and the number of model and then try to install a disc directly from the manufacturer of the device. vader95 Windows 95-7 office 97 - 2010 Ubuntu 9.10 - 10.10

I am able to insert and eject the DVD. I tried to change Autoplay and when I go to my computer and click on the DVD and then try clicking on the installer, still nothing happens. • DRAC 5 installation media: "Selection of CD/DVD-ROM not valid."

I connect to a Drac 5 with firmware version 1.33 using 32 bit Firefox 2.0.0.20 as downloaded from Mozilla.org running on CentOS 5.2.

It seems to me installing the Console and media attach the plug-ins OK, but I get a problem when I try to join a DVD-ROM. I select the ISO from Centos 5.2 image, but when I press the Connect button I get a pop-up indicating that "the page at https://192.168.108.102 says: ' then 'selection of CD/DVD-ROM not valid.'.

If I try the same thing using IE 7 under Windows, it will connect, but since I don't have Windows in the data center is too slow and no use for me to try to connect a DVD over the WAN.

I searched Google and found nothing documenting this error so I am a bit stuck as to what it means and what to do about it.

I tried to run firefox as root also in case the plugin was trying to cordon the ISO file.

I also eliminated any firewall blocking the ports.

This problem is related to Internet Explorer 8.
The error can be resolved by adding the IP address as a trusted site in Internet Explorer 8.

    Thank you

    Hello

Code 39 means that the driver is corrupted or missing.

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the total process
    which solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, and then make sure that the cables
at both ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can clean it often
power and contacts data with a pencil eraser.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Also check with your system manufacturer to see if there are any updated drivers for your DVD.
Or even if there are the 'old', you can reinstall. Many use the default Windows drivers
However, some will be more special. Also check the website of the manufacturer of the car.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • DVD-ROM drive works, but does not appear in 'Computer' and discs can be played

I totally messed up my DVD - ROM drive. After graduating the famous blue screen of death once yesterday and once today, I thought that my PC settings reset would fix the problem. Then, I pressed F2 when my computer starts and resets all settings. Unforunately, this is something serious to my DVD - ROM drive. Initially, it did not work, so I opened my computer and somehow got it works. But now, it does not detect the disks I insert in there. I get the message "no DVD - ROM drive found."

Anyone know if it's fixable? I hope I don't have to take my computer somewhere for repair. Unforunately, I don't know the make or model of the hard drive. My the PC features that I think are important are listed below.

    Beyond that...

  • Tecra S1: DVD ROM not recognized burner (Plextor PX-608AL)

    Hi all

I bought a DVD ROM Writer (Plextor PX-608AL) that is not recognized by my Tecra S1 with XP Pro.

I installed the latest BIOS v2.50 as well as the latest Windows patches.

To the search, in the Setup of the BIOS (ESC during startup), the drive is not available.

I tested the drive in my old non - Toshiba with Win2k laptop with no problems.

Mounting frame is also OK (tested with the original Toshiba DVD ROM)

Y at - there a trick to getting a 3rd disc part DVD working in a Tecra notebook?
    What is generally a problem

Thanks for reading my ad and you answers or advice

    Klaus

    Hello

It won't be very easy get your new work of drive on your S1, I will explain why:

Most DVD players for laptops (including your Plextor 608AL) do not have jumpers to set
their place according to the requirements of the laptop.
    Three settings are available: master/slave/CableSelect

Most Toshiba laptops require the CD to react as a secondary master drive, unfortunately
a disc factory settings in bulk comes as a disk Primary Master or CS.

There are two options how to get to missing jumpers to make it work.
    (1) thanks to a new firmware patch that has this option defined by the software based on Toshiba standard or
    (2) by a bridge of material on some pins to the back of the drive.

As you can see, both options will cancel the guarantee of the reader and are not easy for a techie/technician.

As for option 1) on the search for a suitable firmware... no there are none available now. I checked the official site of Plextor, but also sites of patch firmware... NO CONCLUSION.
According to another Forum, business Plextor responded to a request for a firmware adapted with this answer:

    start of quote:
    Dear Sir.

The drive is detected beeing as a master drive.
This setting cannot be changed. Are there no rider to do so.
How mount you the device to your laptop, it's up to you.
It of different for every laptop and either found in the manual of books or you can request that information from the manufacturers for your laptop.

    Kind regards
    end quote (source: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=199145 )

As in option 2), it requires some skills with soldering and I do not think that this forum is suitable for me to explain this procedure. You should google around to find the procedure "pin 47 ashore" on your own, taking all the risks of losing the warranty and/or the drive on your own.

Message in Device Manager - properties:

With an external DVD-writer/CD-ROM (HP) on USB and Firewire, I get the same message.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

41 code means that the driver has been installed successfully, but the material was not found!

Normally, the material is damaged with this error message, but your external drive has got the same message!
So, there is a deeper problem with the support of CD player!

If you set a system point before occure failure for the first time of restoration, start the System Restore tool and return to this point!

Then it should work again! Otherwise post again!

    Hello

Having too many CD/DVD programs can cause problems, because they will be competing for resources if

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE
