Change my homepage at Firefox startup

After the last update whenever I restart Firefox my homepage changed to "homepage of Mozilla. I then go through the process of change it back which works perfectly when Firefox works but when I close Firefox, and then re - open the home page has been changed. Is there a cure for this apart from uninstalling Firefox and using Google Chrome?

I cured this problem. I completely uninstalled Firefox and then re-installed thanks to all those who reponded

  • change the homepage

Is it possible to 'lock' the homepage so apps can not change? Sometimes I install new programs to evaluate them and they change my homepage. I'm using Firefox 3.6.12. Thank you!

The following method will not prevent the homepage change, but whenever you start Firefox, it starts again home page return to the one you want if it has been changed.

    1. First you have to open the profile folder, for details on how to do this see the article of profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data .
    2. Close Firefox and using a text editor create a file called user.js (this file may already exist)
    3. Add the following line to user.js, using the homepage you want.
    user_pref("browser.startup.homepage", "http://www.google.com/");

  • Cannot change the homepage of Findwide

Tried to change host because by Firefox HELP page (several times), but cannot get rid of the Findwide page at startup. I tried to install and run the module by another post but could not get the add-on to run. I'm on Windows 8 for a Dell laptop. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I guess you mean the SearchReset extension.

Note that the SearchReset extension runs only once and then uninstalls automatically, so it will not appear on the page "> Firefox Add-ons" (topic: addons).

You can also check for problems with preferences and try to rename or delete the file prefs.js and possible prefs - numbered # .js and a user.js file possible to restore the values all default prefs.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

  • How can I reset my homepage until FireFox opens the homepage?

A spam/malware site got itself logged as one of my home pages, and I want to give my pages to a default value. The ordinary mode to do it is to use the Tools menu, but you must leave homepages opened prior to doing it this way. I don't want this site to open again. It appears very suspects windows when it opens. How can I reset my homepage to Firefox externally?

My suggestion would be to send you a link to the home page you want to set as the default value. Click on the link and Firefox will open directly at this link, bypassing your current homepage.

You should then be able to go into tools and change the default home page. I would recommend that you run a malware program to find the cookie or a program that landed itself on your system. Ad-aware is an excellent program to use and is quite comprehensive.

I see you put the tag b well in there, too. It was a mistake on my part I've already edited my original post. I tried to put about: fat home using HTML tags and I went too fast. Try Subject: House. It should come with zefa logo and below that will be a Yahoo! Search box.
