Change network name

When I change the name of the network should I reconfigure all printers on the network?

Potentially, Yes. If your printers are wireless, then you will need to reconfigure with new wireless network name to connect.

  • 1217nfw MFP how to change network name and password when you buy a new routers

I have a 1217nfw MFP.  It was working fine without thread.  Then my router has stopped working properly.  I bought a new router and easily set up my computer, the iPad and the iPhone to work with her.  But I don't know how to change the printer set up so that he will see and connect to the new router (i.e., change the network name and the password that the printer uses to connect).  Someone knows how to do this without having to uninstall and reinstall the printer as if it was fresh out of the box?  Thanks for your help.

Thanks a lot for your help.  The choice to click on my laptop were not quite the same as stated in the article, but the article got to the right spot and I was able to figure out the rest.  So now my laptop is wireless printing.  MacBook Air my wife still does not work, but I'll play with it after the holiday weekend.  Do you know of an article that allows to change the name of the router and the password when it is a Mac?  Whatever it is, thank you very much for your quick response and help.

    Thanks in advance

A few things on this blog could help.

If you know the names you want to use, you could also just use something like:

    Get-Cluster X | Get-VM | Get-NetworkAdapter | Where { $_.NetworkName -eq "OldNetwork" } | Set-NetworkAdapter -NetworkName "NewNetwork" -confirm:$false
    Get-Cluster X | Get-VM | Get-NetworkAdapter | Where { $_.NetworkName -eq "NewNetwork" } | Set-NetworkAdapter -Connected:$true -confirm:$false

  • WRT54GS V4 suddenly changed network name

I've had this work of router for about 2 years now and there are several weeks, he began to stop recording automatically. Today, she totally disappeared from the list available wireless. I recycled the power several times, and now he's back with a brand new SSID. It is the available network only. on the list. One of the times I have to motor off / market, Cisco light blinked at a very fast pace with a white light instead. When I checked for available networks, he has appeared as an unsecured network for several minutes before the light changes its normal color. The WLAN led is green, and I'll send it through the router with a cable. The DMZ light is off. The power light is on.

When I run the Net set utility, I get a message that the router cannot connect to the internet, which is wrong, because I could of course send you this message.

    What's up with the router?

    Thank you

    Steve

For WEP, enter the WEP "key 1" (found in the router) in your computer, not the WEP password or the passphrase.

  • Computer cannot connect to internet after the user changed network name

    Original title: "Network__".

We offer free wifi in our lobby and yesterday a man asked our pin # so he could get on the internet, we discovered after leaving one of our computers cannot connect to the internet as the name of network now shows its computer network and it has need of a code key passes and the password , how can we disable and back to ours?

    You gave your PIN #?

There should be a reset button on your access to restore your system to
by default. Of course, you will then have to re-enter many of your
security data, unless you have saved it.

    (a) Alberto Network

I have not foud a way to change the name of the connection of comments.

Cisco COnnect allows me to change the password for the network comments, but not the name.

How can I change the name of the connection of comments?

    Alberto smell, MD

As dalime said, you must set the name of the router and then the guest account is generated on that basis.  But it's a bit stupid.  If you have configured your router from the web panel name or after you set up your guest account, it will generate a generic name of Cisco.

    Solution:

    (1) disable comments

    (2) change the name of the router (as dalime has shown)

    (3) (cancel) the stupid usb key exchange request

    (4) change the name of the router to what it should be

    (5) (cancel) the stupid usb key exchange request

    (6) turn on comments and now he will recognize the name of the OK to add router "-guest" at the end of

  • How can I get unidentified network settings stick, private and change its name?

I use Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on my computer at home, because my Internet is wireless usb (AT & T Quicksilver) device that can be plugged directly into my router (Linksys WRT110).  Given that the router accepts only as an internet connection ethernet cables, instead I use my desktop computer as the connection (ICS) and using the router only as a hub, essentially.

Everything is working well at the moment.  The Office will connect to the internet and other computers and devices connected to the router (wired and wireless) are all works well and can share the internet connection.

But whenever I restart the desktop computer, the default network is "unidentified network" and as a type of 'Public' without discovery service.  So every time I go to network settings and make it private.  It works fine until the next reboot.  In addition, I am not able to change the network name.  The field seems open for entry, but selecting and typing does nothing.

I don't know if it's relevant, but other devices to connect to the network are laptops (of various working groups, need to be since they are mainly used to work) and a DirecTV DVR, using Mediashare (via Windows Media Server).  Yet once, they all work, after doing the private network, but this is lost at every restart of the desktop computer.

I wish I could have it be a private network that is identified by a name and keep these parameters at each reboot.  But I have yet to find an online solution that worked for me.

    Matt,

Thank you very much.  It worked like a charm.  I was pulling my hair out on this one for a few months.  Once again, a big thank you!

For anyone else trying to solve the same problem, here is the summary of the solution.

I have already had no default gateway specified.  As advised by Matt, I right click on the Local network connection (in network and sharing Center / manage network connections) and went in the IPV4 properties and put in the address of a default gateway (equal to the IP address of my router/hub).  I left the ICS settings and all the way IP addresses which I had them before (with zero in the third byte of the IP address of all and ICS turned on).  I have no registry changes.  The only change is the default gateway.  After this change, a wizard appears to allow me to set up the network properly.  And I could rename and define the private network.  And the changes were intact after several reboots.  Perfect.

  • Change the name of the network printer wireless

We have several Officejet Pro 8600 in our building.  We are printing wireless on their part and need to change the name of the printers so that we know who is who.  How can I change the name of the network to a printer?

You can RIGHT CLICK on the printer in PRINTERS AND DEVICES. There will be a tab RENAME you can choose to change the name.

You will have to do it on EVERY COMPUTER in the building. The printer itself has a HOST name and is the name of the NETWORK.

It's about the only way that you can change the name of the printers.

    I hope this helps.

  • How can I change the name of my HP OfficeJet Pro 8100, which is a network printer?

My employer asked if I could change the name of one of our network printers, so it could easily say that it is the choice of location of printers.  I opened the printer from the control panel and choose Customize your printer, general.  I changed the name in the box. After I did it, the printer was grey in the control panel and I got a message saying something about checking the name on the network.  What should do besides changing the name in the box in general?

    LottaLatte,

    Welcome to the HP Forum.

One of the dangers of changing the names of "stuff" is that sometimes, this 'trick' is the actual program or a link to a real program that the computer must follow.  Next thing you know, the computer lost track of the program used for - print, get on the network, or make a conference call.

An easy option and one that usually works is the following:

No matter when you want to rename an icon, or customize a program, or do something that can change the way a program - works first of all make a shortcut to the program and then change the shortcut.

    Example:

Control Panel > set display icon > devices and printers >

Scroll to the bottom for printers >

Right click on the Active printer (HP PhotoSmart 8200 series) > select Create shortcut *.

    * Text may vary according to the type of action - you can select "Send to desktop" to create certain types of shortcuts

The action creates a shortcut on the desktop

    Next:

Right-click on the shortcut > properties > general tab >

Replace the name with any text you prefer

If the person for whom you are making the shortcut wishes, you can move or copy the shortcut in a folder, instead of the icon on the desktop.
