  I've deployed the unit of 5.5 vCloud Director and the default values of the hostname to localhost.localdom. I tried to change this to console (Option 3) as well as the webpage (https://hostname:5480). Every time after I reboot, it is up to the localhost.localdom.

  Go to/opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_set_hostname in the cell of vCD

  And change the line that says:

  HOSTNAME = "localhost.localdom" to your desired host name. Save and exit.

  Restart the unit once.

  There is a built-in Windows 8 and 8.1 Win system administrator account. You must enable it first.

  Start the command prompt (black box).
  To start this type in the CMD in search window and choose command line
  You can also go to C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe, right click and RUN as administrator

  In the console window type: + net user administrator / active: yes +.
  Now log out of the system.
  Start the new laptop and now you should see the user account additional administrator
  Use this admin account to identify the system and create new user account or change the existing user account.

• Move the user off the system disk folders? Envy of all the data on E, so need to move directories user E. not individually, but in the world. If all new users, I create will have their user and docs folder on E.

  Got a new laptop with win 7 home premium pre-installed. Using the language of win 7... I have decreased the volume of HDD to 55 GB.  Made new simple volumes. I want all the data personal on E, so need to move user directories to E. No individually change the location tab on dozens of files, but in the world. If all new users, I create will have their user and docs folder on E from the gitgo.

  Under XP, I could just change the 'My Documents' link on each desktop, go to the e. * instead of c *. *, but with win7?

  As a Windows Home Server and most wise OS facilities, the system drive is isolated and a drive of 2 or 3 for everything else.  Get a problem? Just restore the system drive.

  In another forum, I found the instructions to move folders of users to another drive.
  You can follow the post here. This is attributed to Jimmie R. Houts.

  Article:
  You can move the entire folder C:\Users to another drive quite easily once windows is installed:

  1. Boot from the installation media and access the command prompt (I think you need to click on fix everything first)
  2. Use Robocopy to copy C:\Users to D:\Users: robocopy c:\Users d:\Users /mir /xj
     a. /mir says robocopy to mirror directories, this will copy all files and permissions
     b. /xj is very important, it means robocopy does not follow the points of junction. If you forget this, you will have a lot of trouble.
  3. Make sure that the files copied successfully
  4. Delete c:\Users
  5. Create the junction pointing d:\Users: mklink /d c:\Users d:\Users

  That's all. I used this process for Vista RTM with no problems.

  Here's an article that explains as well. Just use robocopy instead of xcopy as it does in the article in order to avoid possible ntfs permissions problems.

  Update: because I discovered the hard way, I thought I would mention also that if you plan on switching "Program Data", or "Program Files" with this method, you will be disappointed to know that everything works as expected, but the windows updates will install is no longer. I don't know if this problem has been fixed in Win 7.

  With the foregoing, it is not a Microsoft forum or Web site so you will have to use at your own risk. I also recommend to do a system restore point before making any changes in directories that you can then go back to a previous state.

  On these corporate work stations (mobile), I'm not able to view the files on the hard drive or flash drive.

  I need your help so that I can save files from the internal hard drive of the mobile platform of book z hard disk external.  And I need to be able to reconnect the external drives and readers to the Zbook mobile workstation to transfer files to transfer flash.

  These are the pop ups that appear for each when displaying of readers by opening my computer:

  This problem has been resolved.

  The book of Z 17 HP installed their software: HP Client Security.

  This software prevents the use of external hard drives and flash drives in its default settings.

  Each customer is on their own in discoverinv and the resolution of this problem.

  There is no warning.   He made no information on why a right click on a drive and checking the property do not work.

  The way in which this issue has been resolved was by a clean boot process in msconfig.

  When miscrosoft services were hidden items that remained were read.  Systematically, some were checked and unchecked, and the computer has rebooted to see if the problem was still in existence or if the problem has disappeared.

  We were lucky that we checked to see if it was or not HP software at the beginning.  This problem was caused by the default client security HP who were to refuse all USB connections.

  On the first book of HP Z 17 thin client HP security biometric authertication failed with a black screen.  The computer is about 15 days old.    All the dirvers for the HP notebook have been uploaded and then the software for biometric devices have been downloaded.  HP determined that it was a hardware failure of the biometric device, when drivers and software downloads together has not fixed the problem.  This computer had / has the same problem with not allowing communication with any external hard drive or flash drive.

  HP did wrong by not providing any information on the inside of this product the HP support assistant.

  Here's a consumer might encounter problems:

  The HP support assistant on Z book provides updates of drivers for windows, but the support phone number book mobile z is not listed.  There is a phone number, but it is a regular support, not z book mobile support or elite support.  Mobile Z book users are supposed to call the number fo elite press and the number is for a regular support on the wizard of book z mobile support.  Support assistant has cat support method and the HP chat support is not trained to book support z mobile.  There is a feature to contact the technical support and the transfer of data to the technician, and again, it goes to regular support who is not trained to support the mobile z book.  If you call the phone number provided some of the choices on the automated line includes desktop, laptop and office work.  If you choose Notepad you won't get z mobile workstation support.  If you choose work center you will get no support of z book mobile workstation.  Instead, you must have someone answer and then ask to be redirect to support elite.  On the first call, you never know that the support you are looking for is elite support until they give you this information on the next contact.

  After many hours spent barely pull on the problems of not being able to view files on an external hard drive or external dirve flash, I was able to change this HP software.  It now unfortunately produces a humming noise when parts of it are displayed.  This has not yet been set.

  Hope this helps all who are unable to view the files on their external hard drives and external flash drives.

  The thin client HP security prevents click right change of ownership and prevent changes, right-click in the security, etc..  Change of Director fails also as the client security administrator HP overides too.

  So end users must change the HP Thin Client Security so that it does not block access to files on external hard drives or flash drives.

  1. open the windows Explorer and check if the CD/DVD drive is detected, if yes

  a. open the CD/DVD content

  b. copy the file setup.exe on the Office

  c. and install the game from the copied file.

• Cannot use command line commands.

  I am trying to install a router on my computer.  I make all the connections and then try to configure the router. To do this, I need to go to the shell.  I have to start > RUN > cmp.  The shell comes up enter the following:

  C:\>ping 192.168.1.1

  the following text is displayed:

  'ping' is not recognized as an internal or external command
  operable program or batch file.

  The same thing happens to almost all I'm trying to use the command.  I can change between directories using the cd and chdir... commands.

  The fact that the box is grey indicates an alteration of the function of Outlook address book.  With Outlook closed, open the mail applet in the Control Panel, and then click e-mail accounts.  Select 'View or change existing directories or address books' and click Next.  Select Outlook address book, if it's there and click on delete.  Then click Add, and then click "Additional address books" and choose "Outlook address book".  Click Next, next, finish.  If, before you click on finish, you see the dialogue specifying the address book sort order and this is not the way you want it to appear, select the desired sort order before continuing.  Close the Mail application.

  Start Outlook, and then try to select the "Show this folder as an e-mail address book" again.  It should now be selectable. Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]

• natural reading program does not work

  I bought this program, which once installed first gave errors in the administrator during the installation of a voice, he accepts no key code and fails to run, I guess it's to do with my system and not the program itself, but after a change of Director, under administrator uninstall, and reinstall the problem remains.   I spent a week trying to fix the program, but nothing helps, the software company suggested to restore the file of documents on 'default' to solve the problem. It does not work.

  I have now re-installed the program again, and when I get to install the voice, I get error 1406, related to permissions.  The end result is the same, the key guard code reappear empty after I enter the code and try to run the program.  This suggests that the problem is due to my set up. Thank you very much.
